Bye bye hexagons – part II

When I finished my early posted project, using the Six-sided sampler stamp set and coordinating Hexagon punch, I wasn’t ready to put them away straight away. So I thought I would make a “Hers” card with my hexagons. So here is one for the ladies.

This project also features the coordinating Honeycomb embossing folder and Tea lace doilies, which are also retiring. Here I lightly applied some ink to the raised side of the embossing folder before inserting my cardstock and running it through my big shot.

The base card features a Z-fold. These are easily created by making a card base as you usually would – cut your A4 piece of cardstock in half and score and fold in half. This method works for either portrait or landscape cards.

For this project, I cut my cardstock at 105mm and scored it at 148mm to create a landscape base card. Next, on the front face, I scored that (at 74mm) in half and folded it back on top of the card. The metric scoring plate comes in really handy for this fold, as it has the 74mm marked out for you!!

To decorate, another favourite was used, the Deco Labels framelits and I positioned the punched element so that half was attached to my folded side only. Leaving the remaining half to cover the exposed base, giving me more room to write my message as it will be covered!

More Tea Lace Doilies adorn the front along with the lovely Hexagons (*sigh).

Bye bye hexagons

It’s time to start saying goodbye to some old faithful favourites. This year the Six-sided Sampler stamp set and coordinating Hexagon punch made the retirement list. Meaning they will only be available to purchase until May 31st.

When they exploded on to the scene three years ago, I fell in love them straight away!

I just knew these products were going to be great for making male themed projects. I’ve used them plenty over the years and they will remain in my collection for my own projects down the track – I know when I’m onto a good thing!

Last week, I was asked to make a 40th birthday card for a guy. So I pulled out my hexagons and had a play. Here is what I come up with.

Here I also featured a number of retiring items, like Tangelo Twist, one of the retiring In Colours, the Word window and Washi tape punches and the sentiment is from And Many More stamp set.I love how the orange pops off the page when teamed next to the Basic Black and Mint Macaron.

Thankfully the Large Numbers framelits are staying, I’m not quite finished with those babies yet! LOL!

Until next time… Stamp Creatively,
Rose.

Retirement day mixed emotions

What a day it’s been today with the excitement of the Retirement List release. This is the day when we find out what stamps and accessories are retiring from the 2015-16 Annual Catalogue and current Occasions catalogue.  It’s a day I always greet with mixed emotions.

At first, I’m saddened when I see some of my favourites make the list (ok a lot of my favourites, lets face it everything is my favourite!). But then it is quickly followed by a sense of excitement for the upcoming new products. I am always thinking… “if this is going, what is coming?!”

One of hot items that always sells out fast on Retirement day are the InColour products. This year we are saying goodbye to Blackberry Bliss (my favourite by far), Lost Lagoon (so going to miss this one too), Tangelo Twist, Hello Honey and Mossy Meadow.

Today also marks a special shopping day – it’s the only day you can shop from the Retiring List (up to 50% off), the Weekly Deals (which finishes up tonight) and the Clearance Rack (up to 80% off). Lots of Bargains to be had one this one day – Today! Products are only available while stocks last though. So if you are thinking of shopping, shop here pretty soon.

Today, I’m sharing the project I did with my Stamp Club this month. It featured the colours Lost Lagoon and Tangelo Twist from the retiring InColour collection.

Themed for Mother’s Day, this card design would also make a great layout for any occasion though. The lovely dots in the leafy stem, is just lovely. I gushed over it in my last post too. It’s from the Grateful Bunch stamp set and coordinates with the Blossom Bunch Punch.

Take note of the Tangelo Twist (orange) frame around the raised stamped decorative element. I’ll be coming back to you soon, with the challenge I set for my stamp club team members.

The retiring list items will be available while stocks last or until May 31st.

Until next time… Stamp Creatively,
Rose.

What I used to make this:

Clean and simple

Sometimes we need a few cards up our sleeve that are clean, simple and most of all quick to make. I haven’t had a lot of time to stamp lately (waaa…) so something like this was the order of the day.

Have a play with my Grateful Bunch stamp set and coordinating Blossom Punch I created this little number. It was inspired by cards I’ve created before and also surfing social media.

I love those dotted leaves, it’s nice to have a stamp that is not a solid line in my collection. I have so many leaves but they are all different and give different look and feel to each project made. This one keeps with my quick, clean and simple theme.

Until next time… Stamp Creatively,
Rose.
