School colours – CYCI#135

While we have been shivering though what seems like the coldest winter yet, it’s back to school week over in the Northern hemisphere after their long summer break.

Can You Case it? #135

This week is all about school, over at Can You Case it #135

Here, in the Southern Hemisphere, we are almost to the end of term three. I’m sure I will blink and the year will be over. We don’t officially have school pride colours either, so I thought I would focus on our uniform colours.

We had a light and dark blue checked dress with a Maroon jumper.

Today, I’ve created my card in those colours. I’ve used Cherry Cobbler, Dapper Denim and Soft sky to represent the colours.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Playful Backgrounds, Badges and Banners,

I borrowed the “you are” from one of the stamps in the Sunshine sayings stamp set and I think it works well. I love how the badge could look like a school emblem. This card can be used for many different purposes including teacher thanks or even for Fathers Day.

So what were your school colours? Let’s see what you can create with them.

Until next time… Stamp creatively,
Rose.

It’s Pet week – CYCI#134

… and who doesn’t like pets?! We’re celebrating pets over at Can You Case it? #134 for this week’s challenge.

Can You Case It CYCI#134

You can follow the sketch in the graphic or you can freestyle your design, either way it just needs to celebrate your Pet!

I must admit, I don’t actually own a pet – eek!. We would like to, but our lifestyle at the moment is too busy and I don’t think that is very fair to a four-legged family member. So it’s just us for now.

But if I did have a pet, I would choose a cat. I think this is because they reflect my personality in some ways – independent and self sufficient.  Here is my pet for this week…

Rose Packer Creative Roses Stampin' Up! Foxy Friends

Using my trusty Foxy Friends stamp set and Fox builder punch, I created my little ginger friend.

How I made this:

  • The card base is A6 size (148.5mm x 210mm) scored in half to create a portrait card. The colour is Calypso Coral.
  • The Designer Series Paper – is the coordinating A Little Foxy paper stack. I cut a piece 70mm x 100mm.
  • The top layer is Whisper White (100mm x 142mm). I first punch the Oval, centering it horizontally, but more toward the top of the card font.
  • Next I stamped the vine along the sides of the punch line. This stamp come in a circle shape, so l laid my clear block over the top of the edge of oval punch and used this as a template to bend my stamp to match the oval shape. The flexibility of photopolymer stamps is great feature! The colour is Smokey Slate.
  • Then I stamped my mushrooms at the bottom. The colour is Calypso Coral.
  • I began building the card by positioning my layer piece over the cardstock, so that I could get a visual on where to stick my pattern paper piece underneath. I stuck the patterned paper down flat, first. Then used Dimensionals to stick the White layer piece over the top.
  • Next I cut a strip of Whisper White (25mm x 110mm) and punch a flag end to one side.
  • I stamped my sentiment. The colour is Pool Party. I adhered this to my card towards the bottom of the oval.
  • Next I created my little ginger friend, by using the individual stamp pieces to stamp and punch out. The colour is Calypso Coral.
  • I used Memento Black ink to stamp the facial features.
  • I adhered the body and tail at the same time, positioning them so that the tail tucked behind the body but the tip over-lapped the oval.
  • I used dimensionals to adhere the head.
  • The ribbon detail is the 3.2mm Stitched Ribbon. The colour is Smokey Slate. I tied a simple bow and used glue dots to adhere.
  • Finishing off with a coordinated envelope, I stamped one of the full body animal stamps in Smokey Slate and added cat features in Memento Black.

I’m really looking forward to seeing your pet creations this week, when you play along with us at Can You Case It?

Until next time…. Stamp Creatively,
Rose.

Aussie, Aussie, Aussie – CYCI#133

Oi, Oi, Oi!

It’s the Australian version of a chant, mostly commonly heard at sporting event. It’s so famous, it’s become part of our culture…. our brand.

CYCI-133_0814

So when I saw this weeks colour challenge at
Can You Case It #133 I was more than a little excited!! This weeks colours are Australia’s sporting colours – Green and Gold! (Okay… well… close enough!)

I had to use this opportunity to be patriotic, especially with the Olympics currently happening in Rio. Have you been watching?

Here is my card – Oi, Congrats!

Rose Packer Creative Roses Stampin' Up! Swirly Scribbles Playful Backgrounds Thoughtful Banners

I used the largest of the swirls from the swirly scribble thinlit dies for the O and the I is from the Large Letter Framelit dies. I used these to create the Oi. [For my international friends, the word Oi is one of those multipurpose words where it can mean a few different things depending on the context. Most commonly, in Aussie slang, it is used as a way of getting someone’s attention –  a bit like calling out “hey” or “hey you”.]

So my card actually says – “Hey, Congrats” and is a salute to our athletes.

The stars are from the 2016-18 In-colour Enamel shapes. I used the Emerald Envy stars and assembled them in the formation of the Southern Cross constellation.

I can’t wait to see what you create with these colours. Looking forward to you playing along.

Until next time…. Stamp creatively,
Rose.

P.S. if anyone knows a returning athlete and would like to give them this card, message me and I’ll post it to you so you can use it to give to them.

It’s a Sketch challenge – CYCI#132

Is it too early for Christmas? I know some people do a range of events for Christmas in July… but August? Living on the edge for this weeks Sketch Challenge over at Can You Case It? #132, that’s what I did!

Here is the Sketch….

Can You Case It?

And here is my card….

Rose Packer Creative Roses Stampin' Up! Time of Year

Okay, I may have taken up a little more real estate for my sentiment, but you can’t help it when you have such gorgeous stamps to play with. This set is a hostess exclusive called Time of Year and it a little gem.

The other gorgeous little accessory I love, is that foil acetate. I love that you get one side printed in gold and one side printed in silver (so clever!).

Rose Packer Creative Roses Stampin' Up! Time of Year

How I made this:

  • Base card is a standard A6 size – here I have used Thick Whisper White
  • Using Real Red ink, I stamped my decorative texture element from the Touches of Texture stamp set
  • Next I cut my flag, slicing my foil acetate to 1 ½” x 3” and punched one end with the Banner punch
  • Using strategically placed glue dots I adhere this on to my card base
  • The glue dots where covered by the Real Red ribbon bow
  • Moving on to the “Thinking of You” stamp, I embossed this in gold. First, prepping my cardstock with my embossing buddy, I then stamped the sentiment in VersaMark ink, then sprinkling with the gold powder. After removing the excess, I heat set the image
  • Finishing off with the banner sentiment, I stamped this in Real Red ink and punched is out using the Bunch of Banners framelit. I also stamped one to my envelope to coordinate
  • I tied the two sentiments together with the word “this” stamped in Crumb Cake ink
  • Lucky last is my envelope, using markers to ink up my holly I finished off my envelope.

I love to have a range of cards to create that are nice and quick and easy.

Can’t wait to see what you create with this Sketch – entries close Midday Saturday (Australian EST).

Until next time… Stamp Creatively,
Rose.

Foxy Friends… where?

Foxy Friends stamp set is in the spotlight over at What Will You Stamp? this week #WWYS75.

What Will You Stamp?

I thought I would use Foxy Friends set a little differently today….  I decided my little critters deserved a holiday, so I am focussing on the Pine trees that feature in this set.  There are two sizes of the pine trees and both coordinate with the Perfect Pines framelits.

Here is my entry.

Rose Packer Creative Roses Stampin' Up! Foxy Friends Time of Year

Both trees are stamped in Mint Macaron, the larger one is a straight ink and stamp however the smaller ones either side are stamped off. The lighter shade helps to make them feel like they are in the background and create depth to the scene.

I added the banner from the Time of Year stamp set, a hostess exclusive, to make it a Christmas card. A star at the top and some bling to finish it off.

Until next time… Stamp Creatively,
Rose.
