Sketch Challenge – CYCI#151

Over at Can You Case It? #151 this week is another great sketch created by our amazing Eva. Check it out.

Here is the card I made using this layout. Again, I rotated the layout to make it work with a landscape card.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up! Number of Years

This special occasion card I made for my hubby. We celebrated our 15th Wedding anniversary this weekend.

I choose black and copper for the colours as they are very masculine plus they just suit a special occasion like this.

My card base is Basic Black and over the top I used a piece of Urban Underground Designer Series Paper. The main element is a square piece of copper foil from which I punched out the 15 using my Large Number framelits.

RosePacker_17-20b

Behind them is some black glimmer paper which I had left over in my supplies. It can be a little tricky sticking to the front glittery side of glimmer paper, but it can be done. I use the Fine Tip Glue pen, the glue in that is very strong, and normally you don’t need alot, but when using it on the front of glimmer paper I use a bit more and then I apply pressure to it and hold that pressure for maybe 3 to 5 minutes – a looooong time. This gives me success each time. Then I adhered this on to my card base with dimensionals for extra height.

I finished off this card with heat embossing the sentiment in copper powder and topped off with a couple of those gorgeous wooden elements in the Sending Love embellishment pack.

I can’t wait to see what you create with this sketch. Head over to our Facebook group and look for the post with this Challenge sketch image. Our Design team inspiration will be posted in the comments, so be sure to soak up their inspiration. When you make your creation, upload it in the comments to play along.

Last entries are Midday, Saturday 1st April (AEDT). Top picks and next challenges are announced on the Facebook fan page too.

Welcome if you are joining me from Rachel or if you are starting here – the team has another lovely set of projects for you.

Colour INKspiration CI06

The colours on the menu this fortnight are:
Pool Party,
Night of Navy,
Calypso Coral and
Gold Foil.

A great match for this amazing photo.

Today, I’m all about quick, simple and easy, but fun, creative and lovely. Here is my card:

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up! Hello You thinlit dies

It’s great when we have time to play, but sometimes we have a few things on our “to do” lists which means project like these are great to have up your sleeve.

Quite simply, the card base is Calypso Coral. The flag from the Subtles pack of Designer Series Paper Stack, okay so I couldn’t resist inking up another Lace Doily – LOL, I think I’m on a roll with that now! Over the top is a gold foil doily and it’s all topped off with “hello” sentiment from the Hello You thinlit dies in Coral.

Not much stamping today… but it’s great to see what else you can create with your supplies isn’t it?

For some more yummy INKspiration, Julia Quinn is next in the hop and I’m sure her project wont disappoint.

Once you’ve finished the hop, I hope you feel inspired to join in on all the fun and head over to our Facebook Challenge group and share your project created with these colours.

Colour Challenge – CYCI#150

This week over at Can You Case It? CYCI#150 we have a cool set of colours to challenge you with. They certainly challenged me… Navy is not a colour I reach for often, so it always gets me thinking. Which is good, isn’t it?

Can You Case It? CYCI#150

Here is what Kevin come up with… Mint, Navy, Copper and White.

Once I got going with them, this is how it all came together.

Photopolymer stamps are really great for lining up stamps so easily. This is what I did with the lace border stamp in the Delicate Details stamp set – which is a Sale-a-bration exclusive. I lined them up to mirror each other, leaving a tiny gap between. I think it worked out pretty well. I topped it off with one of the A-Ma-Zing dragonflies from the Detailed Dragonfly thinlit set in Copper foil, using a dimensional to

It was looking a little clean, it needed something else plus I wanted to add some more navy into the mix too. I decided adding a little texture was the way to go. I have many texture stamps but they all felt a little too structured, I wanted something more organic for this.

Reaching for one of my acrylic blocks, I dabbed it into the ink pad, and smeared it across the corners of my white background. Adding a mix of Mint and Navy ink, some times straight on to the card in a stamping motion, sometimes I dabbed off some of the excess ink and smeared what was left on – giving this nice grungy feel.

It occurred to me, while doing this, this technique could be good to use when you “accidently” catch the corner of your block when inking your stamp and some of it makes it over to your cardstock…. Hmmmm, food for thought!

RosePacker_17-18b

I finished off with a little sentiment “Just a note…” from the Better Together stamp set in some Navy ink.

Holiday crafting

I have a quick little share today. Last weekend here in Victoria, Australia, we had a public holiday, so off our family headed for our annual extended long weekend camping trip with our group of friends.

It was lovely time away, with 11 kids swimming in the river for nearly 3 days, and generally keeping themselves occupied. Most friends got some down time to relax and catch up – me… well for the most part I was chasing our 2 year old around making sure she didn’t get into mischief. But I did manage to find some crafting time. Yes… out in the middle of nowhere… me, my stamps and I….

RosePacker_17-17b.jpg

This holiday generally falls close to our friends boy’s birthday. So we often celebrate while away. I had his pressie ready to go, but just needed a card to go with it.

To make things a little easier for myself, I CASEd this card from Stampin’ Up! Artisan design team member, Holly Stene. Her card came across my Pintrest feed and I loved it and through it would be perfect for our little friend. I did some prep at home, so I didn’t have to take absolute everything with me, but allowed myself to create enough while out there to give me some of the down time I love.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Everyday Hero

As soon as I saw the Everday Hero stamp set in the Occasions catalogue, I just had to have it. I have so many little friends, including my boy, this stamp set would be perfect for. Who doesn’t like a super hero? Now we can create our own with this little beauty. With all the cleverly coordinated scenery stamps that come with it, means the possibilities are endless.

I’m sure I’ll be back with some more inspiration using this set at some point soon.

Sketch Challenges are back – CYCI#149

So excited that Can You Case It? are back weekly and with sketch challenges making their long awaited return.

I love sketch challenges and here is our first one for 2017.

Can You Case It? CYCI#149

Okay, so maybe this one may have been my suggestion. It was probably easy to spot as you may remember I like the alternate angles of layered cardstock.

Here is my design inspiration for you.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up! Bold Butterfly Thinlits, SAB Glimmer paper stack

I made a simple hello card with lots of bling. I’m so in love with the Glimmer paper stack right now, I used it here for my butterfly in Sweet Sugarplum. As if he wasn’t blingy enough, I had to put a Rhinestone on his back!

The layer beneath the butter is Mint Macaron and here I have embossed it with one of the patterns that come from the Floral Affection set. The folder is a frame, but here I have used just one half. Then I coordinated the next layer with some Sweet Sugarplum cardstock and finished off with a Basic Black flag.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up! Bold Butterfly Thinlits, SAB Glimmer paper stack

A couple of posts ago I was looking for a little “hello” stamp in my collection. At the time, I couldn’t find the right size I needed so used a marker and part of another stamp to get the right sized sentiment. Well guess what…. I found one that works… There is one hiding in the Banners for You stamp set!

Also, I rotated the sketch 180° so that the elements where in the bottom right corner. It just seemed to work better while I was in design process mode. You can rotate the sketch 90° or 270° if you wish and see what shapes and patterns they create for you.

Now that we are back to weekly challenges, this one closes Midday next Saturday, March 18th (AEDT). Check out all the details here on the Can You Case It? website and while you’re there, don’t forget to check out all the amazing inspiration from the design team too. When you have created your masterpiece, head over to our Facebook Challenge group and load up your image or link to your blog in the comments section of the challenge post.

Looking forward to seeing what you create.

Colour INKspiration – CI05

colourinkspiration-banner

Every time I think about Blushing Bride I immediately think Vintage. I guess it’s because it’s one of those colours that’s not a true colour to me…. It’s pink, but it’s not a baby pink or a bright pink, you know what I mean. It’s kind a little dirty/muddy… it’s Vintage! So that’s what style I went with for this colour challenge.

CI005-080317

Welcome to this fortnights Colour INKspiration Colour challenge. With the new set of yummy colours of Blushing Bride, Soft Sky and Sahara Sand.

Here is my card.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Dragonfly Dreams

This colour combo is right out of the Falling in Love suite from the Occasions catalogue’s. For my creation this time, I opted to use only those lovely Lace Doilies. What I really like about them is one side is Very Vanilla and the other is Whisper White, making them so versatile.

Here I coloured the whisper white side by simply up ending my Blushing Bride ink pad directly on to it. There is something very liberating about swishing your ink pad upside down! I did this a couple of times to get a very saturated look. When overlayed onto the Blushing Bride cardstock it creates a lovely tone on tone look.

Rose Packer. Creative Roses, Stampin' Up! Dragonfly Dreams

I kept on with the vintage theme but adding some sponging with Sahara Sand ink over my embossed brick wall cardstock and stamping some of those lovely dots from the texture stamp in the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set. I also used a sentiment from that same stamp set, I stamped it several times – four of them were in Soft Sky adding more light texture and one more bold in the middle in Sahara Sand. I topped it off with that cute little bunch of dragonflies in some Soft Sky and a little bling on each of them.

Next you’re in for a real treat with the very talented Kelly Kent, who is next up on the INKspiration crew blog hop.

Okay on to this weeks set of colours, we have – Gray, Yellow, Turquoise and White.

Here is the card I made… It’s a gate fold with a front panel.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up! Cupcake and Carousels, Birthday Carousel

I was really excited to see the diamond design paper in the Cupcakes & Carousels Designer series paper stack – perfect for this colour challenge.

I decorated the front with this paper on the base card panels. I used that gorgeous carousel from the Carousel Birthday stamp set, I just love those cupcake carriages! The Up & Away thinlit dies set has a little cloud like die that fits these cake toppers, making it so easy to stamp and punch colour coordinating carriage tops.

Here is how the fold looks from the top.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up! Cupcake and Carousels, Birthday Carousel

Inside, I wanted to neaten off the join where the front panel overlaps the base card front panel. This is how I achieved that – by sticking a coordinating piece of the diamond patterned DSP over the part sticking out. This made the join much smoother as they now sit at the same level. I added some more of the diamond patterned DSP down the right side of the white panel to match.

Oh and don’t you love how the sentiment on the front and inside work beautifully together? The styling just works too.

Okay… so now it’s your turn. I can’t wait to see what you create with these awesome colours. You have until Midday on Saturday 11th March (AEDT) to enter. The post will be live here on our Facebook Challenge Group – you just need to post your entry into the comments.
