CTC140 – For Babies & kids

CTC-BlogBanner

At Caseing The Catty this week we are focussing on the For Babies and Kids section of the Annual Catalogue. Welcome if you have just joined me from Fiona or if you are starting the blog hop here, there are so many awesome inspiring creations by the team this week.

This time, it was this image from page 105 that called to me, the same used to head up this weeks CASE too. In particular the card in the bottom left, with the flag element.

Whilst, I have missed playing with Foxy Friends stamps and punch, today I really wanted to play with the A Little Wild stamp set, which is new in this catalogue on page 108. So I combined the two stamp sets and here is what I came up with.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, A Little Wild, Little Loves Framelits

Keeping the flag element as the feature, I also looked at how the placement of other elements and worked with those. I decided on the bear from the A Little Wild stamp set, he’s just so cute. Whilst this stamp set is designed and created to make decorative tags, used this way but inking up just half the stamp, means you can use them on cards like this too.

I stamped him in Soft Suede ink and coloured him lightly, just adding a touch of colour in shadow areas. I added some colour to the Bee too. It worked to have him seated on the tree stump from the Foxy Friends stamp set. I used the coordinating bear framelit to punch him out and fussy cut my tree stump.

I set these aside for now, while working on the base of my flag element. I worked with a long piece of the Whisper White cardstock, trimming the flag to one end. Then I worked my way up with elements. Using the coordinating sentiment from the A Little Wild stamp set, however this is in a stacked layout and I wanted a line stretching across the bottom of my flag. So used my markers to ink up the stamp in stages, and my stamp-a-ma-jig to help position them in a line.

Next I double stamped the grass in an offset manner, so the top line of grass is brighter than the lower one. I punched a 2” circle from Daffodil Delight cardstock and snipped in from the edge toward the centre (but not all the way) to create some texture. Using my bear image, I found the position for my circle element and adhered this in place. Using dimensionals, I adhere my tree stump and bear in place too.

Next I worked on the elements to feature at the top of the flag. The leaf element is a die in the Little Loves framelit set, and I thought it would work great. A combination of Ombre ribbon in Lemon Lime Twist and some Linen Thread was used to accent with the leaf die.

I stamped some of those cute little Bees around my bear and I was happy with the flag element feature.

I finished off the card with some of that yummy Wood Textures DSP over a card base of Lemon Lime Twist. I adhered my flag element with Dimensionals and stamped a coordinating envelope. Such a cute little card.

  1. Beautiful card Rose, I especially like your treatment for the sun behind the bear- how effective is that cutting – I went looking to see if you had used a new embossing folder . Nice way to mix the 2 stamp sets with the tree stump. Cute!
