Colour INKspiration CI17

It’s been a little while since playing along with the Colour INK crew, life gets busy as times doesn’t it? But I’m back with some inspiration for you using some really cool colours. Welcome if you are starting here or if you have just joined me from Nikki Spencer.

Our colour combination this fortnight is Lemon Lime Twist, Pool Party, Tempting Turquoise and Flirty Flamingo.

Gorgeous aren’t they? Here is my inspiration… I went with Fabulous Flamingo stamp set for this challenge.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up! Fabulous Flamingo

I really couldn’t go past it really, all the colours in this challenge really suited this set. I started with a Thick Whisper White card base and stamped the fern down the sides in Lemon Lime Twist, I even double-stamped in some instances to create a different tone, which added depth to the colour variation.

I cut a wide strip of Whisper White cardstock and stamped the outline of the flamingo in Basic Black Archival ink. Next I stamped one of the infill stamps in full Flirty Flamingo ink. Then I stamped the other infill stamp in Flirty Flamingo ink as well, but this time I stamped it off first, so that it would create a lighter shade of pink.

I used tempting turquoise ink for the water ripples and added some wash with some pool party ink. I used my aqua painter so that the water would flood the ripple lines, making them appear blury. I finished off the stamping with some fern in the top left corner. This top section was just about done, I needed a sentiment and for this I used the congratulations from this stamp set and stamped it in Flirty Flamingo ink and cut it out. I layered this over some of that yummy Ombre Ribbon in Lemon Lime Twist.

Next, to adhere my Flamingo piece to the cardbase, I decided to add some additional cardstock to frame the edges. I trimmed a border with the ribbon border punch from Tempting Turquoise cardstock. I layered this over some Pool Party cardstock and used Dimensionals to adhere it to my cardbase.

I hope you enjoyed my inspiration and are ready for some more with Nicole Wilson, who is next up in the hop.

  2. Such a fun card, Rose, full of colour and cheer. I adore your layout, the centered stamped panel is gorgeous, especially with those stunning layers of colours behind. Love the palm leaf stamped card base, ties in beautifully with the corner detail on the cantered panel.
