Dreaming of a White Christmas?

I had this idea in my mind for a little while and I was sure someone would beat me to it. But to date, I haven’t seen another created. So it was nice to nut out this idea without help.

Here I have had some punch art fun with the Trim your Stocking framelit and created an ice-skate for a more wintery feel to this card.

I found some reference material to help guide me along and started with punching a simple stocking from Whisper White cardstock.

Next, I created the sole of the shoe by punching out the foot section of the stocking from Basic Black cardstock. Then I overlapped the framelit on the punched piece and punched it again to give me just the strip I needed. I adhered this on with Fine Tip Glue pen.

Next, I free cut some shapes to create the heal and adhered that from behind. I created the blade of the skate much the same way as the sole. Punching the foot from some Silver Foil, then punching again, cutting off as much as I needed. I did practise this part with some scrap paper first as I needed to know how much of the foot I needed initially. Then I fussy cut out the shapes to leave the two connectors – one to the heal and one to the ball of the skate. I cut teeth into the front curve of the skate for the stopper and adhered it in place. Now my skate was starting to take shape.

Skates are only ankle high, or just over, so I trimmed the stocking down to where I thought an ankle would sit within this shape. I rounded the corner freehand.

Now to finalise the detail…. I punched eyelets with the handheld punch, I threaded some bakers twine through for the laces. For the hooks at the top, I just popped on some circled from the Metallic Shapes pack. I added some stitching detail by paper piercing.

Once I completed my skate element, I prepared a base card in Whisper White Thick cardstock and layers some of the yummy ombre paper from the Color Theory Paper stack.

I adhered on my skate with some Multipurpose liquid glue and finished it off with some Silver edged ribbon, thread and a simple sentiment.

Until next time… Stamp Creatively,
