CTC176 – Favourite 2018 Occasions Catalogue project

CTC-BlogBanner

Here I am back with my regular blog spot with the Caseing The Catty crew. Welcome if you are starting here with me or if you have hopped over from the talented Peta.

CTC176

Today we are featuring our favourite projects from the Occasions catalogue. Like last week, how do you choose a favourite when the Stampin’ Up! catalogues are filled to the brim with amazing projects. So I went back to the first thing that caught my eye all the way back in November when I first saw the Occasions catalogue.

Occ18_p15c_Perennial

This card here, featuring the Perennial birthday stamp set. I think it was the drama of the black ink against those lovely bright colours. I like a bit of drama.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up! Perennial Birthday

Here I made my own version copying the sample closely. I always admire projects like this, where the stamps are pieced together to create a gorgeous arrangement. It wasn’t as hard as I first thought it was going to be, I just stamped around in a circle so to speak in Basic Black Archival ink. I prepped my sentiment first, and used that as a guide as I stamped my flower arrangement.

Once finished, I grabbed an aqua painted and used it like a paint brush, rather than flooding the project with water. Picking up some ink from the lid of my ink pad and painting to colour my stamps. I wasn’t too fussed if I went outside the lines here and there either.

RosePacker18-23b

I stamped a few extra pieces, which I fussy cut and adhered with some dimensionals.

I had a little play with these stamps to create a more simplified card, but still bright and fun.

I used several of the flower and leaf images to create a little scene like they popping out of a flower box. I love that sentiment beneath the main one too. So sweet.

ESAD 2018 Retirement List Blog Hop

ESAD_Banner

Welcome to the ESAD blog hop featuring items on the Stampin’ Up! retiring list. You may have joined me from my stamping friend, Fi Cobbin, or if you are starting here, you are in for a real treat.

You may be wondering what ESAD is? It’s a group of Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from Australia and New Zealand. If you are demonstrator, not part of the ESAD group – more info is located at the bottom of this post.

The theme is all about retiring products from the 2017-18 Annual and 2018 Occasions catalogues. Today I am sharing with you A Mothers Flair stamp set, the Lots to Love Box die set and that ever so gorgeous Painted with Love Specialty Designer Paper.

Here I have made a simple but elegant card to match with a gift card holder, made using an alteration to the Lots To Love Box die.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, A Mothers Flair, Lots to Love Box die

First up – the card. I’m so in love with the design style in the A Mother’s Flair stamp set. It was a set I had to have when I saw it in the Occasions catalogue – it was the hat stamp, I had to have that hat. But then, once I started playing with these stamps, they all grew on me. I just love the feminine style and the multitude of occasions these can be used for.

I kept the card simple, the paper is so busy, a simple design complemented it. Here I stamped the shoe, in Fresh Fig ink, and coloured the flower using the Peekaboo Peach marker, topping it off with a simple pearl. The sentiment is stamped in Sweet Sugarplum ink and I used some thin strips of Peekabook cardstock to edge the stamped element. I added a strip of the Painted with Love Specialty paper to the cardbase and adhered the stamped element with dimensionals.

I was thinking about what package to make to go with this Mothers Day card. I have used the Lots to Love Box Die to make the boxes as they were designed to create, but this time I wanted something flat to hold a gift card.

I give gift cards a lot for a range of occasions – birthdays, Christmas, and Mothers and Fathers day are always gift cards or money. So when I was thinking about giving a gift card, this idea came to mind.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, A Mothers Flair, Lots to Love Box die

Here, I extended the bottom edge to create a longer panel, that is scored and closes over the card securely. I decorated the front by fussy cutting the hat stamp from the A Mothers Flair stamp set. I adhered this with dimensionals to a Whisper White 2” circle layered with Peekaboo Peach Starburst punched cardstock. If fussing cutting isn’t for you, there are stamps in the set that fit that size, so it can be a simple stamp and punch creation. Again colouring the flower in Peekaboo Peach and topped off with a simple pearl.

I decorated a panel to go inside the holder so that it’s not so plain once the gift card is removed. This set has two little dies that cut out the semi-circle notches which I used to for two purposes – one so that the holder can close over securely; the second to hold the gift card in place inside the holder. For extra security, I wrapped some of that blingy coordinating Love Mini tinsel in Sweet Sugarplum around the front half of the holder and tied in a bow to finish off the front.

I’m so glad I have these stamps and dies even though they retiring. I will continue to use them quite a bit!

Colour INKspiration – CI32

colourinkspiration-banner

Welcome to this colour challenge with the Colour INKspiration crew. Welcome if you have joined me from Rachel or if you are starting here with me. We have an awesome colour combination for you to play with this time, they are:

CI32-250418

Night of Navy, Pink Pirouette, Whisper White and Gold.

Here is my inspiration. I have gone with a Mothers Day themed card, using the A Mothers Flair stamp set.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, A Mothers Flair, Detailed Dragonflies

I have always found Pink Pirouette to be a very light shade of pink so when I want to use it for watercolouring backgrounds, getting a dark enough coverage, can be challenging. Obviously, water colouring washes out the colour, so this is how I went about achieving a darker background:

  • I used the ink pad and lightly tapped it directly on the cardstock, I used Shimmery White cardstock;
  • Next, I used an aqua painter and blended the ink together, providing a smooth appearance;
  • I repeated this process again, building up the depth in colour. This allowed for a more intense pink, than what the tradition ink would give; and
  • Lastly, I squeezed a few drops of water from the aqua painter and allowed them to drop on to the cardstock in different spots. This moved the ink around the surface of the cardstock, allowing it to pool in other places to create that watered edge look.
  • I dried it off with my heat tool, just for speed. But this can be air dried if time permits.

I love how it came together. Now to finish my card.

I overlayed the water coloured background onto Pink Pirouette cardstock, which was adhered to a Night of Navy cardbase.

The embellishments over the stop featured a flourish in Gold Foil from the Petals & More thinlit die set, a cut square using the Stitched Shapes Framelits, a 1 ½” circle punched from Whisper White cardstock. This was layered with a Scallop Circled punched shape from Pink Pirouette cardstock. Off the top right, featured a dragonfly in Gold Foil from the Detailed Dragonflies thinlit set.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, A Mothers Flair, Detailed Dragonflies

Lastly, my stamped images – I just love all the sweet girly style imagery that feature in the A Mother’s Flair stamp set. They are just so delicate and so very useful for many different occasions. There are a couple of sentiments that can be used for other occasions also, and a few that are Mother specific.

Here I stamped the hat in Night of Navy ink and fussy cut it. I coloured the flower with a Pink Pirouette marker and used dimensionals to adhere this over the circle punched shapes. I added my sentiment to the bottom right and finished off with a couple of gold faceted gems.

I really like how this turned out and look forward to giving this one away in a few weeks. I hope that I have inspired your Mothers Day projects. I know there are many out there who may not have their own mums along side them just now, but there are still a lot of Mums out there, many who are doing it tough. Stop and look around you and bless them with one of your lovely creations.

CTC175 – Favourite Occasions Big Shot Project

CTC-BlogBanner

I don’t know about favourite…. There are just waaaay to many great projects using the big shot, it was really hard to choose. Welcome to Caseing The Catty where this week, we are looking at big shot projects.

CTC175

Here is my card…

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Lovely Words, Petty Kitty

Here I have used Foil Frenzy Specialty paper stack to cover the card front. I used the Parquetry style pattern in Soft Sky. I overlayed this with a piece of Soft Sky card stock. I stamped the bottom with a couple of those cute and mischievous kittens.

I overlayed a circle in Whisper White cardstock punched using the Stitched Shapes framelit. I just love them. The sentiment is one of the thinlits from the Lovely Words thinlit die set, here I have snipped it out of the frame to use on it’s own. I added more words to it to create the sentiment. These are from the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Lovely Words, Petty Kitty

I topped it off with the Pansy from Birthday Blossom stamp set and one of those metallic rimmed pearls.

Nice and bright and sparkly – just enough to brighten the recipient’s day.

Next up in the hop is the ever amazing Kelly Kent.

CTC174 – Hostess Sets and Memories & More

CTC-BlogBanner

Welcome to another week of Inspiration from the Caseing The Catty crew. I hope you are enjoying the hop so far.

This week, we are celebrating Memories & More products and Host Exclusive stamp sets. I have opted for Memories & More as I luuuuurrrrvvvv these card packs!

CTC174

My inspiration came from the Occasions catalogue. Page 24 has the Petal Passion Memories & More card pack, which is sadly retiring on May 31st. These card packs are traditionally for Photo pocket memory keeping system but can be adapted for many other uses. I was inspired by the card made for the photo page, to the right of the scrap page, in the banner image above.

I adapted the design to make it work on a card. Here is what I came up with…

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, One Big Meaning, Memories & More

Using the retiring Elegant Eggplant colour to contrast with the Petal Pink card, I created a Thank You card. I used the same card from the pack and layered some Whisper White cardstock between it and the card base.

I punched a circle from Eggplant card stock, using the Star burst punch and layered the sentiment on top. The sentiment is from One Big Meaning stamp set – another item on retiring on May 31st. I adhered the same punched flowers from the Petals & More thinlit die set. I added some Silver metallic thread to the back, before adhering with Dimensionals.

RosePacker18-19b

I added a little accent stamp in the background by stamping in the same ink colour as the cardstock. The little stamp is from Window Shopping stamp set – another item retiring on May 31st.

This is just one of the many uses these cards are great for. I really enjoy working with them and I’m sure I’ll be back with more projects using these cards.

Next up in the hop is the amazing Rebecca Scurr.

CTC173 – True Gentleman

CTC-BlogBanner

Welcome back! I’m back hoping with the awesome Caseing the Catty crew. I hope you have enjoyed the projects shared so far.

It’s been waaay to long since my last blog post – don’t you hate when life gets in the way of the things you really enjoy? March was a huge month for me with many different things happening, sadly I didn’t get a lot of crafting time in. I find when those times hit, getting back into the swing of things can be harder, creativity is like a muscle – the more you use it, the easier it seems.

That’s why I love this crew – drawing inspiration from Stampin’ Up!’s amazing catalogues are a great way to get that kick start. This week the crew are focussing on the True Gentleman suite and pages 44 to 51.

CTC173

There was so much inspiration in these pages, I did have a little trouble narrowing down what to choose to work with. I had to create a wedding card for my nephew, so this I went with the Dapper Day card featured above.

My nephew and his partner eloped to Los Vegas a few years ago, but thankfully, with Marriage equality becoming a focus last year here in Australia, they are now able to cement their relationship, just like me and my hubby did 16 years ago. This is the card I made for them…

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Colorful Seasons

I cased the card design in the catalogue but then added a few extras. I thought about what their home looks like – neutral colour palette, lots of natural materials – timber, brick and stone. I chose colours and papers to match. Soft Suede for the card base and I chose one of the Wood textures paper stack designs to compliment. I opted for an earthy green in Tranquil Tide – which is featured in this suite.

I stamped a sentiment from the Colourful Seasons stamp set in Tranquil Tide ink on Very Vanilla and punched it out using one of the Lots of Labels framelit dies. I accessorised with some Tranquil Tide ribbon. As the elements laid in place (before adhering) it just needed something else.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Colorful Seasons

I decided on some bling – I know!! On a boys card!!! – but it works and it’s only a little and it just finishes it off nicely. So I added some gold mini sequin trim, in a loop beneath the sentiment. I pulled a couple off one end and stuck them on in a strategically scattered appearance. Finished off with a piece of the Tranquil Tide ribbon tied in a knot over the top.

I hope they like their card! Congratulations Anthony and Lawrence.

Next up in the hop is Angela Meiritz-Reid.
