Welcome to the ESAD blog hop featuring items on the Stampin’ Up! retiring list. You may have joined me from my stamping friend, Fi Cobbin, or if you are starting here, you are in for a real treat.
You may be wondering what ESAD is? It’s a group of Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from Australia and New Zealand. If you are demonstrator, not part of the ESAD group – more info is located at the bottom of this post.
The theme is all about retiring products from the 2017-18 Annual and 2018 Occasions catalogues. Today I am sharing with you A Mothers Flair stamp set, the Lots to Love Box die set and that ever so gorgeous Painted with Love Specialty Designer Paper.
Here I have made a simple but elegant card to match with a gift card holder, made using an alteration to the Lots To Love Box die.
First up – the card. I’m so in love with the design style in the A Mother’s Flair stamp set. It was a set I had to have when I saw it in the Occasions catalogue – it was the hat stamp, I had to have that hat. But then, once I started playing with these stamps, they all grew on me. I just love the feminine style and the multitude of occasions these can be used for.
I kept the card simple, the paper is so busy, a simple design complemented it. Here I stamped the shoe, in Fresh Fig ink, and coloured the flower using the Peekaboo Peach marker, topping it off with a simple pearl. The sentiment is stamped in Sweet Sugarplum ink and I used some thin strips of Peekabook cardstock to edge the stamped element. I added a strip of the Painted with Love Specialty paper to the cardbase and adhered the stamped element with dimensionals.
I was thinking about what package to make to go with this Mothers Day card. I have used the Lots to Love Box Die to make the boxes as they were designed to create, but this time I wanted something flat to hold a gift card.
I give gift cards a lot for a range of occasions – birthdays, Christmas, and Mothers and Fathers day are always gift cards or money. So when I was thinking about giving a gift card, this idea came to mind.
Here, I extended the bottom edge to create a longer panel, that is scored and closes over the card securely. I decorated the front by fussy cutting the hat stamp from the A Mothers Flair stamp set. I adhered this with dimensionals to a Whisper White 2” circle layered with Peekaboo Peach Starburst punched cardstock. If fussing cutting isn’t for you, there are stamps in the set that fit that size, so it can be a simple stamp and punch creation. Again colouring the flower in Peekaboo Peach and topped off with a simple pearl.
I decorated a panel to go inside the holder so that it’s not so plain once the gift card is removed. This set has two little dies that cut out the semi-circle notches which I used to for two purposes – one so that the holder can close over securely; the second to hold the gift card in place inside the holder. For extra security, I wrapped some of that blingy coordinating Love Mini tinsel in Sweet Sugarplum around the front half of the holder and tied in a bow to finish off the front.
I’m so glad I have these stamps and dies even though they retiring. I will continue to use them quite a bit!
