CTC215 – How Sweet it is

CTC-BlogBanner

Welcome to another hop with the Caseing The Catty Crew. This week we are drawing inspiration from the How Sweet it is suite, pages 14 to 23 of the Occasions catalogue.

CTC215

There was really so many things that inspired me in this section of the catalogue, I found it hard to settle on which idea to Case. I decided on the colour palette…. I love these colours together….

This has renewed my love for Coastal Cabana. I was really excited when it came back into this annual catalogue, but I haven’t used it as much as I thought I would. But look out… I’m back in love!

So using these colours, I created a simple card using the All That You Are stamp set. I have been eager to use this set and this seemed like a great time. It’s an outline stamp, meaning it’s perfect for colouring and today, I went with watercolour pencils.

First, I stamped the image in StazOn Jet Black ink. Then used Granny Apple Green, Gorgeous Grape, Coastal Cabana and Melon Mambo pencils to colour. With the help of a blender pen, I was able to create two-tone flowers by blending the colours together. I didn’t have a Pineapple Punch pencil, so I went with Daffodil Delight and only used it a touch on the stamens. Can you tell?

Layering my Whisper White cardstock on some Gorgeous Grape, then onto a cardbase in Coastal Cabana. I heat embossed a sentiment in white powder onto some Melon Mambo cardstock, punched it out using the Classic Label punch and adhered it using the mini dimensionals. I decided to align it with the left edge, which gives the appearance of breaking out of the centre layers of the main image.

I finished off with some embellishments – a bow tied from that lovely two-tone ribbon from this suite, which is in Coastal Cabana and Granny Apple Green. I thought it needed something else. I remembered, I had a pack of the Glitter Enamel Dots, I was excited to work out that all four colours in the pack match this colour palette completely. I love enamel dots and these are just gorgeous with a glittery fleck. I think I’ll be stocking up on a few more packs of these!

Anyway, next up in the hop is the lovely Angela Meiritz-Reid.
