CTC216 – Sale-a-bration

It’s another week of Caseing The Catty Crew hop time. Welcome if you are joining me here or if you have hopped over from Sandra.

This week we are back drawing inspiration from the Sale-a-Bration catalogues.

Today, I have focussed on technique used on one of the backgrounds of a card. It’s this one on page 13 of the main Sale-a-Bration catalogue.

See the green card with the juggling frog? Notice the background on the green layer with the stamp Yay!? I loved how that looked from the moment I saw it.

Using the Piece of Cake stamp set, I have recreated that same background.

Here I have lined up three of the cake stamps from that set on my H clear block. Using Coastal Cabana ink, I stamped them in similar pattern across my Coastal Cabana cardbase.

I love the way this looks, it creates some interest on what would otherwise be a plain background. I also like that stamping tone on tone keeps it subtle enough to not take over. Plus it’s just a great way to get maximum value out of one stamp set.

To finish off the card, I decided to keep the same colour theme for this week, by adding some Melon Mambo and Gorgeous Grape to my Coastal Cabana.

I stamped the Happy Birthday Cake stamp in Melon Mambo and the cake stand is in Gorgeous Grape. I coloured the base with my grape pencil to add some shading. I finished off my cake with some Lollypops and popped them on some circles in Whisper White and Gorgeous Grape. These sit over some Gorgeous Grape mini striped ribbon and a strip of cardstock in Melon Mambo. Simple but cute.

Next up in the hop is the amazing Kelly Kent.

After you’ve enjoyed the awesome hop with the team, I’m looking forward to seeing your CASE over in our challenge group. Be sure to load up your creation by 6pm next Sunday night, Sunday, February 24th.

Until next time… Stamp Creatively,

  1. This is a fabulous technique. Thankyou for showing it off so well. Now I’m inspired to have a go doing this too. Awesome card.
