CI52 – Colour INKspiration

Welcome to another Colour INKspiration hop. This challenges features equally yummy colours as the yummy looking cake that they are inspired by, Early Espresso, Granny Apple Green, Soft Seafoam and Whisper White.

What I really like about this combination is it lends itself to creating for our male folk. So I opted for some help from the amazing Birthday Cheer Bundle, featured on page 17 of the Occasions catalogue.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Birthday Cheer,

It’s an awesome set and allows you to create different effects – here I have used the thinlit with the presents and I have pieced different coloured combinations of cardstock behind them, some I have even the paper piecing technique.

Here, I die cut the main image from Early Espresso cardstock, and used a combination of Soft Seafoam and Granny Apple Green cardstock to layer behind the presents.

I create a large volume of scraps and I really don’t like to throw them out – two reasons, one is cost but the other is about being environmentally responsible. One of the best things about working with dies like these is they lend themselves to using up these scraps and that is a winner in my book.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Birthday Cheer,

The main present element is layered on some Granny Apple Green cardstock and I used a touch of Whisper White cardstock to line the side edges. To add a touch of interest I cut the edges with the Stitched Rectangle framelits and finished off the element with a simple strip of the Sheer Ribbon in Whisper White for some texture.

I stamped the edges of the Soft Seafoam card base in the same colour ink, with one of the stamps for texture, before layering the main elements over the top. I finished off with a simple birthday sentiment on Whisper White cardstock, with a Flag cut to one end. Again, adding some interest by echoing the Stitched edge from the rectangle framelits.

Next up in the hop is the amazing Jackie Aitken.

Once you have enjoyed all the amazing inspiration in this hop, pop over to our Facebook Challenge group and load up your creation using these colours. This challenge is open until Monday, 8 April. Look forward to seeing you over on the group.

  1. This is a great card, Rose. I do like this set, but I’m amazed at how effective it is in these shades of green.

  2. You’re right, these colours do go really well for guy cards. And what amazing paper piecing. Such amazing attention to detail!

  3. Really effective, Rose! Those dies are a knock out and I can see how you could dress them up in so many ways after seeing your clever piecing of bits.
