CTC235 – Case the card on page 159

Another really cool Case from the team here at Caseing The Catty. Welcome if you are joining me here or if you have hopped over from Rebecca. This weeks case is using the card sketch on page 159…

And here is how I interpreted it…

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Come Sail Away, Sailing Home Stamp set, Smooth Sailing dies

Like all card sketches I case, I first break down the elements… cardbase, designer paper layer, Whisper White layer, decorative element on the top left.

Using the Sail Away suite, I first chose the piece of designer paper I wanted to use… here I went with the gray coral design. This made choosing the rest of my colour palette easier. I decided to stick with mostly black and white and just used the Mint Macaron as a pop of colour.

What I really like about the stamp set, is how clever the Stampin’ Up! stamp designers are. In this set, they have designed two sail boats for us to use. They are similar in style, but different in size and direction. This allows us to create realistic scenes if we wanted to.

On my card, I have kept things simple, but used basic art principles… objects in the distance appear light and smaller and objects closer to us are larger and more vivid. So on my card, the smaller boat is stamped higher in Smokey Slate to give the appearance of being further away and the larger boat is stamped lower and in Basic Gray for a closer feel.

I finished off the card with a sentiment framed with a little Mint cardstock and the ships wheel trinket with a little of the Mint ribbon behind.

Next up in the hop is the amazing Michelle Strazds.

After you’ve enjoyed the awesome hop with the team, I’m looking forward to seeing your CASE over in our challenge group. Be sure to load up your creation by 6pm next Sunday night, July 7th.

  1. Great card Rose, I love your colour palette, and your snip of Mint ribbon actually looks like a sailing pennant shaped flag- very clever. I love your mint frame behind the sentiment also. just the right touch.
