Welcome to another hop with the Caseing The Catty Crew. This weeks theme is a little different, we are Casing Punched Projects from the Holiday catalogue. So in looking at the projects in the Holiday catalogue, we are drawing inspiration from ones that use a punch.
My inspiration came from this project….
It’s featured on page 4 in the bundle index. I just love the monochromatic feel about the background and then you have this punch of colour to highlight the main feature. It’s simple and stunning.
So I wanted to recreate the monochromatic feel but with colour, here is how my card turned out….
I used the Most Wonderful Time product medley… hey have you spotted that in the Holiday catalogue yet? It’s hiding on page 39, such a gorgeous collection of coordinated products. You can create so much with this clever little set.
Here I used the smaller tree and stamped it, using the generational stamping technique. Which works really well with these two colours Shaded Spruce ink stamped on Soft Sea Foam cardstock. The tonal range in the Shaded Spruce ink worked really well here.
For my main focus element, I went with a red tree. Now… normally trees are not red, but then I don’t think Moose are gold either and we shouldn’t let realism hamper our creativity!! So here I have heat embossed the larger tree, in the set, with White embossing powder and using an empty Wink of Stella brush I painted a thin layer of Frost White Shimmer paint – to give it a light washed effect that is nice and shimmery.
I punched out the tree using the coordinating die and tied some of that lovely thin tinsel ribbon, from the medley, around the it. The ribbon is thin enough to add texture and sparkle but not so thick it takes away from other elements.
I adhered the tree with dimensionals and topped it off with some gorgeous Glitter Enamel dots from the Toile Tidings suite… they have a lovely gold fleck which matching in great with the tinsel.
I embossed the sentiment in white on Real Red cardstock to match and added some texture to the card with a simple tie of some Whisper White bakers twine.
After I finished, I wondered what some dots from the Shimmery Crystal Effect pen would look like. So I added some small dots over the trees and I think it gives them a soft rain drop effect.
Next up in the hop is the clever Rachel Palmieri.
After you’ve enjoyed the awesome hop with the team, I’m looking forward to seeing your CASE over in our challenge group. Be sure to load up your creation by 6pm next Sunday night, September 29th.
Until next time… Stamp Creatively,
