CTC-BlogBanner

So this week at Casing The Catty we are looking at what inspires us from the Annual Catalogue and giving it a holiday twist. The crew having some great inspiration for you and we hope you will play along with this great little challenge.

CTC256

So my inspiration came from page 97. It’s this one, the box with the die cut “Thank you” on the top…

Here is what I did with that inspiration…

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Merry Christmas thinlits, Detailed bells dies

I used my Merry Christmas thinlit dies and die cut the sentiment out from Real Red Glimmer paper. I layered some Silver foil behind it and then set about adhering all the little shapes to fill in the letters to give them form making the sentiment easier to read.

I adhered this onto one of those amazing Silver foil edged cards and envelopes. They are so great and I just love the look they give. I used some of the Foam Adhesive strips to cover a large area and they give a slightly higher lift, which works in this case.

To finish off my card, I die cut some baubles from the Detailed Bells dies set using some of the green foil from the Noble Peacock Foil sheets pack. I adhered them with mini dimensionals and twirled some silver thread around my fingers a dozen times. Then around the middle of the loop to make a bow and used a glue dot to hold it all together and adhere to the bauble.

Simple but really cool and weirdly… no stamping today!

Next up in the hop is the amazing Julia Quinn.

Colour INKspiration – CI67

colink-blogbanner-v3

I’m a little bit stoked this blog hop with the Colour INKspiration crew. I provided the inspiration photo for this challenge and helped pick out the colours. I was just captured by the colours in this image, I knew it would make a great challenge. So grab a cuppa and enjoy this hop with the crew.

Here is the inspiration and challenge colours …

The combination of Pacific Point, Merry Merlot, Balmy Blue, Pear Pizzazz are a striking combination. They certainly provide a challenge to work with. Once I got going the ideas began flowing and here is the creation I came up with…

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Butterfly Beauty dies, Birch stamp,

I went with some favourite products I had used in a long while. I had to show them some love before they started feeling left out!  I went with Butterfly Beauty dies. I thought they would suit the purpose of the card I needed. A friend is having surgery and I want them to know I am thinking of them and wish them a speedy recovery.

Beginning from the top this time, I layered the top of my Butterflies in Basic Black, I think it really helped to frame the layers of blue beneath. Next, I die cut the intricate layer of butterflies in Balmy Blue cardstock and using Pacific Point cardstock, I fussy cut pieces to fit behind to fill in the butterflies –  thankfully you can’t see how untidy that is from the top!!

Once I had my main element complete, I set about creating the card for them to sit on. The base is Whisper White thick cardstock. This is layered this with regular Whisper White cardstock, which I stamped with the Birch background stamp in Pear Pizzazz ink.

I added some elements to create some detail…. Some leaves from the Rooted in Nature stamp set, stamped in Pear ink provided some subtle detail while the die cut foliage elements, from the Butterfly beauty dies, in Merry Merlot cardstock provided some drama. I love how that colour just pops against the blue. I adhered the leaves flat then adhered my main Butterfly element with dimensionals. I tucked in the Merry Merlot elements in with the help of some Multipurpose Liquid glue.

Finishing off with a simple sentiment stamped in Merlot ink, I used part of a sentiment from the Beautiful Day stamp set. I trimmed this down and cut a flag to one end and adhere it on with some more liquid glue. I finished off my card with some embellishments – some silver metallic pears and one of the small clear faceted gems. They really are a favourite!

Next up in the hop is the ever amazing Nicole Wilson.

CTC254 – Case a layout

CTC-BlogBanner

I am back hoping along with the Casing The Catty Crew, and this time we are looking at the project layouts featured on page 22 of the Holiday catalogue. Welcome, if you are joining me here or if you have hopped over from Judy. There are some really cool ideas to help inspire your next projects.

CTC254

I could have gone with any one of these idea, but November is traditionally “Tag” month for me. I feature creative ideas for classes and many of my projects this month, so I really had to go with the cute little Elfie. Here I used the tag with the elf to inspire me to make this card….

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Elfie, Puff Paint

Here I replicated the layout and repeated it across the card. Using some Crumb Cake cardstock, I stamped the elf in Memento Black ink and coloured him using Cherry Cobbler and Shaded Spruce Blends.

To add some fun, I used some of the cool Snowfall Accent Puff Paint… OMGosh… how much fun is this stuff! You can use it for many purposes, here I used it to add fluffy fake fur look to Elfies hat! It can be a little tricky to use until you get the hang of it. But so much fun, I really don’t care too much if I pop on a little too much!!

I layered the Elf images on some Designer paper, I adhere the two outter Elves flat to the Cherry Cobbler card base, the middle one is up on dimensionals. The middle Elf also has the sentiment stamped on some Whisper White cardstock and layered over the original placement, to help add dimension.

I finished off with a few little embellishments, which I think makes all the difference to a card…. transforming it from a nice card, to one with some “wow” about it. Here I threaded some White Bakers Twine through a gold Jingle Bell from the Wrapped in Plaid Suite and tied a large bow. I adhered it to the corner of the middle elf with a glue dot (love those things!). Then I added a couple of gold Metallic Pearls to the raised sentiment to echo the gold. I think it finishes off my card just nicely.

Next up in the hop is Julia Quinn.
