CTC261 – Case Sale-a-bration Catalogue

It’s our regular Caseing The Catty Sunday night blog hop time and this weeks hop is focussing on the Sale-A-Bration catalogue. There are so many great idea in such a little catalogue, we have lots to fuel our creativity with. So sit back with a cuppa and enjoy the inspiration we have for you tonight.

For this fortnights challenge, this week, I took inspiration from page 13 of the SAB catalogue. Remember this challenge runs for the next two weeks, so you have heaps of time to play along.

I just love the gift bag with all the repetition of those flowers. So simple but so effective. I wondered what I could do with that idea. Here is what I came up with…

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Smooth Sailing dies, Sail Away suite

It’s my Dad’s birthday…. Today!! He’s 86 and still going strong. He’s agile and works hard in his veggie patch and loves to go out on his boat and fish. He’s resourceful – can make something out of nothing and we affectionately refer to him as the Maltese-McGyver. (I know… I’m showing my own age here hey!)

So what better way to celebrate him than with the Smooth Sailing dies. I used the anchor, ships wheel and rope to create the repetitive feature pattern. I laid this over a base of Balmy Blue cardstock, which I stamped with the parquetry floor stamp from the Gallery Grunge set in Balmy Blue ink to add some background texture.

I die cut my pieces from Blueberry Bushell cardstock – can you believe it’s only 6 more months until this gorgeous colour retires in June – eek! I layered these over the stamped card base. Then finished off with a simple tie of thick twine and the sentiment.

The sentiment stamp is from the Peaceful Moments stamp set, new in the 2020 Mini catalogue. This is fast becoming my go-to set for sentiments, it has so many useful ones. I stamped this in Blueberry Bushell ink on some Bermuda Bay cardstock.

It’s simple but effective just like the sample gift bag in the catalogue.

Next up is the very creative Lauren Meiklejohn.

After you’ve enjoyed the awesome hop with the team, I’m looking forward to seeing your CASE over in our challenge group. Be sure to load up your creation by 7pm, Sunday February 2.

We will be back next Sunday with more inspiration for you for this challenge.

Until next time… Stamp Creatively,

Colour INKspiration’s 3rd Birthday

Happy 3rd Birthday to Colour INKspiration –  #CI70. Can you believe it’s been 3 years already? I hope you have been enjoying all the hops along the way. Welcome if you are joining me here, or if you have hopped over from Nikki Spencer.

We are celebrating this milestone with a special hop of current and past Colour INK Crew members. The theme is Birthdays and we each chose our own combination of three colours to create and I can tell you… settling on just one combination is really hard. But for my colour palette, I settled on my all time favourite….. drum roll….  Coastal Cabana, teamed up with Lovely Lipstick and Highland Heather.

CI70 - Birthday Hop

Like many other Stampin’ Up! demonstrators, I’m pretty much hooked on the Peaceful Poppies suite. If you are feeling like you are seeing it everywhere, I don’t blame you. It’s been hugely popular. It’s made up of two bundles – Painted Poppies which has all the imagery and Peaceful Poppies with has the sentiments; and has bunch of amazingly coordinated products to go with them. So many of the projects seen online have been in Black, White and Red.

However, Poppies come and in a range of colours and so I wanted to give them a different look with my chosen colours. Here is my card…

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Peaceful Poppies, Ornate Frame dies

I water coloured the background with my aqua painter using Coastal Cabana ink onto some Shimmery White cardstock. After allowing that to dry, I stamped the group of poppies stamp in Memento Black ink, and using Highland Heather and Lovely Lipstick Stampin’ Blends, I set about colouring them in. I used the light and dark shades of the markers separately, rather than blending this time. This allowed for different shades of poppies.

I covered the bottom edge of the Shimmery White cardstock with some of the tri-colour ribbon. I used Tear and Tape to adhere to the card base which is Thick Whisper White cardstock.

I finished off with a Happy Birthday sentiment, which is from the Lovely Lady Bug stamp set, an exclusive SAB Host reward. I stamped this in Coastal Cabana ink on to some Whisper White cardstock. I used two different dies from the Ornate Frames dies set to punch and create the side decorations.

Next up in the hop is Tanya Bell.

Once you have enjoyed all the amazing inspiration in this hop, it’s your turn to choose your favourite 3 Stampin’ Up! colours to create a Birthday card with. Our first hop and challenge for 2020 is all about the new MINI catalogue! Isn’t it wonderful? O. M. Gee… I’m so in love…. as much now as I was 10 years ago when I joined!

So here is my first play with my new toys….

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, STampin' Up!, Outdoor Barbeque, Blends, Brick & Mortar EF

I really couldn’t go past the Outdoor Barbecue stamp set. My hubby is a smoker… of the BBQ kind just like the stamp in this set. It’s an artform for him – getting the perfect smoke-ring and tenderness in cuts of meat you would ordinary pass by at the butchers. So as soon as I saw this set I squealed in pure delight.

Here I kept the design simple and classic…. Card base of Blueberry Bushel, stamped around the edge in same colour ink is the T-Bone steak and fire flame stamps. I layered some Seaside Spray Designer Paper in the middle.

On the main layer of Whisper white cardstock, I stamped the Smoker BBQ image in Memento Black ink and used Stampin’ Blends, in Smokey Slate, to colour it. As the image itself, has shading already, it was easy to blend shadows in and I didn’t spend a lot of time getting it right… it looked good already! I added some Crumb cake for the side rest, and a dot of red, for the temperature gauge.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, STampin' Up!, Outdoor Barbeque, Blends, Brick & Mortar EF

By embossing the bottom third, with the Brick and Mortar 3D embossing folder, added some texture and making it look like it’s sitting on a bricked floor. I lightly sponged some Crumb Cake ink over the top to help define the texture of them.

I finished it off with a simple sentiment. I stamped the sentiment in Blueberry Bushell ink and punched the circle with the 1” punch. I layered this over a punched shape from the Ornate Frames dies set, which carried over from last year.

Next up in the Hop is the amazing Michelle Stradz.

After you’ve enjoyed the awesome hop with the team, I’m looking forward to seeing your CASE over in our challenge group. Be sure to load up your creation by 6pm Sunday night, January 19th.
