Case the Colours of the Kerchief Card Kit

CTC-BlogBanner

It’s Caseing The Catty’s new challenge blog hop week. Welcome if you are joining me here, or if you have hopped over from Siobhan. This fortnight is a colour challenge – you can use any combination of colours from the Kerchief Card kit.

CTC263

The Kerchief card kit is a free Sale-a-Bration item you can choose, when you spend $90 or more on regular products. The kit contains two card designs and features lots of colours to choose from. Today, I have focussed on the combination that makes up one of the card:

RosePacker-ColourSwatch-CTC263-01

But you can use any of these colours that make up the kit in any combination: Balmy Blue, Coastal Cabana, Early Espresso, Gold, Mossy Meadow, Night of Navy, Petal Pink, Pear Pizzazz, Poppy Parade, White.   You have two weeks to create and play too.

Here is my card.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Classic Garage, Garage Gears dies

I went with a male theme card and use the Geared Up Garage stamp set and coordinating Garage Gears die set. Here I used a card base in Coastal Cabana and punched out several of the large gears dies in Coastal Cabana cardstock to over lay the base, to create a background. I’ve done this quite a few times recently, it’s really effective. Then kept the feature elements towards the bottom.

Here I have stamped the car image in Memento black and coloured it using Night of Navy Blends. After die cutting it out, I layered it over some Gold Foil. I die cut the shape using a label die from the Painted Labels die set. I twirled some Gold metallic thread and fluffed it before attaching to the back with some Snail adhesive. Then I popped some dimensionals on the back to hold it in place. I used some glue dots to hold the gear elements that I die cut from Night of Navy used to adorn the corners.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Classic Garage, Garage Gears dies

Before adhering the element to the cardbase, I coloured some of the Metallic gold edge/Vanilla ribbon with the dark Night of Navy Blend to match my card. This went on the card base first, followed by the car element.

To finish off I added some Navy Rhinestones from the Peacock pack and I’ve always wanted to do this… highlight this section of the large gears die… I’ve always thought it looked like a steering wheel!

CI71

This is our inspiration for this challenge….

Highland Heather, Pear Pizzazz, Pool Party and Gray Granite. Plus you can add the basics of White, Black and Vanilla as well as metallics.

My card today features a sneak peak…

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Tags in Bloom, Sale-a-Bration

This stamp set is new Sale-a-Bration set coming in the second release on March 2. It’s called Tags in Bloom and it’s a ripper. I love that it coordinates with the new Label Me Lovely punch from the Mini catalogue!!

I kept things simple for my first play…. Water coloured the background in Pool Party ink with an aqua painter. Once dry, I adhered this to a Whisper White thick card base.

I stamped the main image on some scrap whisper white and used the punch to create a window. Using the Stitched Rectangle dies to trim around it. I found the one that fitted three sides, then trimmed down the fourth edge in tight.

The stamp set comes with pieces to colour with, so I coloured the flowers in Highland Heather and leaves in Pear Pizzazz – with some I stamped off to create a lighter shade.

Stamping two separate flowers which I fussy cut out, I adhered these on the right. Trimming a small piece of the Granite ribbon, I folded this and layered it on the left. Then used dimensionals to adhere the frame down, over the water coloured background.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Tags in Bloom, Sale-a-Bration

I finished off with a sentiment from the set, which are sized perfectly to fit in the punched shape size. I stamped this one in Gray Granite ink. I just love this sentiment, it is one I write in cards a bit, so I’m very happy to have a stamp that says this!!

I hope you have enjoyed this inspiration, for more pop over to our Facebook Challenge group and check out the crews inspiration in Album #CI71. Then load up your creation using these colours. This challenge is open until Monday 24th February. Look forward to seeing you over on the group.

Here is the Sketch…

CTC262-Sketch

Here is my spin on it for this week.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Beautifully Braided, Braided Border punch, thank you

I know… it’s a little different from the sketch but the basis is there, three panels. I just happen to cut them with angles instead of straight, making triangles instead of rectangles this week.

I have featured the Beautifully Braided bundle which I’m really enjoying creating with at the moment. It lives on page 29 of the Mini Catalogue and comes with the Beautifully Braided Stamp set and Braided Border punch. Here I have coloured the main flower image with Stampin’ Blends – So Saffron and Mango Melody, which I fussy cut to make a feature.

I started with a card base in Soft Seafoam – love this colour in cardstock!! Then layered over the triangular panels from the Lily Impressions Designer Paper, which is a Sale-a-Bration freebie right now. (Click here to learn more about how you can get this paper for free).

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Beautifully Braided, Braided Border punch, thank you

I cut a braided border from Soft Seafoam cardstock using the punch. I threaded some of the Mini Striped Ribbon in Gorgeous Grape through the punched pattern and adhered it over the panels. Then layered the fussy cut flower and topped with the “thank you” sentiment from the stamp set.  I finished off by colouring some jewels with my Mango Blend and scattered them around.

Next up in the hop is the amazing Michelle.

CTC262 – Sketch Case

CTC-BlogBanner

Welcome back to another hop with the Casing The Catty Crew. Welcome if you are joining me here or have hopped over from Sandra. This hop marks the start of the new challenge that will run for the next two weeks.

We have a great and different challenge for you this time. This fortnight, we are drawing inspiration from this card featured on page 34 of Mini Catalogue. We are Caseing the layout.

CTC262

Aren’t those Koala’s just the cutest. You may wondering if we chose this card, featuring the Koala’s, on purpose. With the devastating bushfires that have swept across the amazing country that is Australia, more than half the population of these native creatures have been wiped out. Mostly likely they will be classed as an endangered species now, as hopes of recovery of numbers are very low. Fingers crossed our wildlife agencies work diligently to help them.

So in breaking down the sketch layout… it looks like this:

CTC262-Sketch

The main feature of the sketch is the three panels. You can choose to work this in so many ways and there are loads of ideas on how to do this in the hop. Plus we’ll be back next Sunday with more ideas to inspire you along.

Here is the card I created…

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, From My Heart suite, Heartfelt stamp set, Heart punch pack

I went with a Love theme, featuring elements from the From My Heart suite (page 8 of the Mini catalogue). But don’t let the pink and red colouring of this suite fool you – this set can be incredibly versatile when you change up the colours or theme of the card.

I used the Heart Doilies as my three panel elements. Starting with a piece of Designer Paper from the Golden Honey Specialty Designer Paper – which is a Sale-a-Bration freebie available until March 30. See more here about Sale-a-Bration.

I chose a fairly simple design so that it blended into the background. Then layered my three heart doilies over the top to get an idea of how they would work. I stamped two of the small hearts from the Heartfelt stamp set, in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, and fussy cut them out. I adhere them to a red and pink doily and adhere them on to the Designer paper, then adhere the third plain doily over the top.

I stamped the larger heart stamp from the same stamp set, in Flirty Flamingo and punched it out using the plain heart punch from the coordinating punch pack. Adhered this over the plain red heart.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, From My Heart suite, Heartfelt stamp set, Heart punch pack

I tied some Black twine, from the Country Club twine pack, around the designer paper twice and let the strands hang off on the left. I adhered the Designer Paper and heart elements to a card base in Basic Black.

Then finished off with heat embossing the sentiment and arrow in White powder on some Basic Black cardstock. I fussy cut these out tight and adhered them with dimensionals, and finished off with tying a bow with the black twine.

Next up in the hop, is my team mate Lauren Meiklejohn.
