Colour INKspiration – #CI74

I’m back creating for Colour INKspiration today, #CI74. We have a great colour combination for you tonight. It was inspired by a photo taken my upline Simone on her Incentive Trip to the Greek Isles last July.

The colours are Night of Navy, Whisper White, Basic Gray and Mango Melody.

Here is how I used these colours…

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Braided Border Punch, Stitched So Sweetly Dies, Well Said dies

I created a fun birthday card over-sized candles as the main feature. I created these candles using the new Braided Border punch. I just love this punch, there so many different ways you can use this other than just punch and stick.

Starting with a card base in Night of Navy cardstock, I layered this with a piece of Whisper White cardstock. It’s important to note that when I’m creating cards like this, I never stick any thing down until I’m happy with all the elements.

At first, I cut this piece to layer with my cardbase, but came back to it later to finish it off. This is where not sticking things down really helps!! I cut it down to be shorter at the bottom, adding some sponging with Mango Melody ink and finishing with embossing with the Mosaic folder.

To create my candles, I first punched three border strips from Night of Navy cardstock with the Braided Border punch. Using the border punch the way it was intended, punching my cardstock, sliding along to match the punched pattern to the printed pattern on the base. Then, I set about trimming the centre detail from some of the pattern of the border punch, to achieve the look of candles.

I layered these over some Whisper White cardstock and arranged them over my card. I finished them off with a flame created from a leaf die and some Mango cardstock.

Then I set about creating the label sentiment detail… I punched the words Birthday using the Well Written dies and Mango cardstock, and layered this over Whisper White Flax Ribbon. This was layered over some punched shapes – The white layer is my other favourite punch… the Label Me Lovely punch. I trimmed this in half and layered them to make them shorter to fit inside the vellum die cut shape – this shape is from Stitched So Sweetly die set. The Happy is from the Well Said stamp set.

Fiddling with the elements until I was happy with this arrangement. I set about adhering it together to complete the card. I think this will work great to give to our men-folk.

CTC265 – Week 2 – 2nd Release SAB

I’m back hoping along with the Caseing The Catty crew for week 2 inspiration of Sale-a-Bration’s second release. There is where we share more inspiration from the second release catalogue, with so many ideas inside it was certainly hard to choose just one.

I settled on this layout from page 7. It’s the one at the back, using the gorgeous Mint Vellum…

I just love the simplicity and ease of which you can create cards for any occasions using this layout. Here is my card…

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Ornate Garden suite

If these products don’t look familiar and have you guessing where they come from, you’re not going crazy. This is the Ornate Garden Suite that is coming next month. It’s an early release from the 2020 Annual Catalogue. So today, I have a little sneak peak post for you too.

The suite features two bundles. Here I have used one from the Ornate Border Die set. These dies are shaped in strips and work well on the edge of your card stock, but can work many different ways of course. Here I thought it would work beautifully on the angled edge, just like the sample.

Starting with a card base in Whisper White thick cardstock, I layered some of the Ornate Flowers Specialty Designer Paper from this suite. I went with this one, in Mint Macaron that features some lovely gold foiling. The paper in the suite features lovely garden style flowers patterns featuring lots of colour on one side and more muted and less busy design, most a monochromatic or feature Gold foiling detail. You are just going to love it!

I die cut the border design from Whisper White cardstock and trimmed the Designer paper around the bottom edge of the pattern, so that they sat neatly together.

There are some layering pieces included in the die set too which I used two to add some very simple embellishment with. To finish, I have topped them the Guilded Gems that come in the suite. I love these, I love how they are a solid gold look, rather than a gold backing beneath a clear gem.

All the details on this gorgeous suite are coming April 1st so stay tuned.

Next up in the hop is the amazing Sandra Collett.

After you’ve enjoyed the awesome hop with the team, I’m looking forward to seeing your CASE over in our challenge group. Be sure to load up your creation by 6pm next Sunday night, March 29.

Have you discovered the Tags in Bloom stamp set yet?

I’m so in love with this new Sale-a-Bration exclusive Stamp set. It’s the Tags in Bloom stamp set and it’s available for free when you spend $180 on regular products. It’s a stretch $$-wise but its so worth it. I really love how this stamp set coordinate with two new punches featured on page 41 of the Mini catalogue – the Label Me Pretty punch and the Label Me Fancy punch.

Take a look…

And here are the punches….

The set is constructed in a way which allows you to create many different looks pending how you feel like creating. You can keep it quick and easy and use the different pieces to colour the flowers or you can stamp the outline and colour it however you like – by water colouring or pencils or here like I have with Stampin’ Blends.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Tags in Bloom, Label Me Lovely punch, Label Me Fancy Punch, Sale-a-Bration

I embossed a piece of cardstock for the background – here I used the new and gorgeous Parisian Flourish embossing folder from the Parisian Blossoms suite, new in the Mini catalogue. I adhere this to a black cardbase, then over layed a strip of Golden Honey Designer Paper, another SAB exclusive free item.

Keeping things simple like this allows for creating quickly and you can swap out colours and paper design to adapt to many different occasions.

Then I set about creating my feature element – first stamping the large label stamp in Memento Black ink. I coloured the cute little flowers that adorn one corner with Stampin’ Blends – alcohol markers. Use light and dark shades of colours to blend to create highlights and shadows. To add some additional highlights, I used the colour lifter to push the colour out. To add some sparkle, I dabbed some Wink of Stella over the flowers.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Tags in Bloom, Label Me Lovely punch, Label Me Fancy Punch, Sale-a-Bration

I fussy cut the label image to create a stand alone element and used dimensionals to adhere it. I stamped the border shape and sentiment from the stamp set and used the coordinating the Label Me Lovely punch to punch out the shape and adhere it over the label element.

These punches feature in March’s Online classes coming soon. Stay tuned…
