CTC279 – Casing the Sketch

I love casing sketches… I tend to do this when I’m short on time or my creative mojo escapes me. Using an existing layout can really help. This is what the Casing The Catty crew are doing this week…. we are casing the card sketch from page 72 of the Annual Catalogue. Welcome if you are joining me here or if you have hopped over from Judy.

A sketch refers to the layout of a card… meaning which elements are featured in what location. Here is the card we are casing this week and a breakdown of the layout features.

For my card, I kept the same orientation and feature elements – but changed up the colours and stamp set used, which gives an amazing different look altogether.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Today's tiles, stamparatus

I am back playing with Today’s Tiles stamp set and here I have stamped them in Mango Melody and Gorgeous Grape. What I did here, was stamp the tiles twice, using the Stepped-hinge technique on the Stamparatus. This was so that I had enough tiles to file the shape I was after for my card. So I trimmed out three rows to make my layer.

I layered a card base of Whisper White thick cardstock, with some designer paper from the Playing With Patterns 6×6 pack. I wrapped some tri-colour ribbon around the cardfront. I adhere my tiles layer over the top with dimensionals.

The embossed the sentiment, also from this same stamp set, in Whisper white powder onto some Gorgeous Grape cardstock. I went with sentiment, as I feel like I am telling myself this several times a day at the moment.

I punched it out using the Timeless Label punch, I went for an angled look this time, I thought it matched the hand writing style. I borrowed the small hole punch from the Label me Fancy punch to create a place for the linen thread bow.

I finished off the card with a scattering of the very cute Playing With Patterns Resin Dots embellishments.

Next up in the hop is the amazing Siobhan Fitzsimmons.

After you’ve enjoyed the awesome hop with the team, I’m looking forward to seeing your CASE over in our challenge group. Be sure to load up your creation by 6pm next Sunday night, August 9th.

Until next time… Stamp Creatively,
