CTC292 – Sketch Case

I love a sketch challenge, I hope you are up to playing along with us for this one. Welcome to another hop with the Caseing the Catty crew. Thanks if you have hopped over from Shannon or welcome if you are joining me here.

This week, we are Caseing the card sketch on Page 159 of the Annual Catalogue… It’s this one and here is the sketch too.

Here is the card I created using this layout.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Ornate Garden suite, Ornate Garden, Ornate Layers dies

I went with a few of the products from the Ornate Garden suite. Starting with a Whisper White thick cardstock base, I layered this with some of the Ornate Garden Specialty Designer paper, but first adding a touch of the gorgeous Snowflake Splendor ribbon. I chose one of the gold foil designs to bling it up and love how the glittery ribbon is just as blingy!

The idea for the main feature of the card came from a swap I received from one of my team members. Here I used White embossing powder and heat embossed the large flower arrangement from the Ornate Garden stamp set onto some Vellum cardstock.

I die cut a frame from Gold foil sheet, using one of the frames from the Ornate Layers die set and a Stitched Rectangle die. I knew these two die sets were going to be best friends the minute I saw the Ornate Layers one. I adhere the Gold frame over embossed vellum, using a very thin stripe of liquid glue.

I added some Just Jade cardstock to the back of the vellum so that it gave a hint of colour but not overpower the Gold bling. Heat embossed a sentiment from the Love You stamp set – again White embossing powder onto some Just Jade cardstock, again to echo the elements used for the main image.

I chose this sentiment as this card is going to my Mum. With us living in Melbourne and my Mum living down along the Coast about an hour and half drive away, we haven’t been able to see her. With Melbourne being under Stage 4 lockdown and having a 5km travel limit, it feels like an eternity since we have visited her.

I finished off the card with a simple bow tied with some gold thread from the Forever Green ribbon combo pack.

Next up in the hop is Judy May.

After you’ve enjoyed the awesome hop with the team, I’m looking forward to seeing your CASE over in our challenge group. Be sure to load up your creation by 7pm next Sunday night, November 8th.
