Colour INKspiration – CI41

colourinkspiration-banner

I’m back hopping with the Colour INKspiration Crew and this hop is all about the new Regals colour collection. Welcome if you are joining me here or if you have hopped over from Nikki Spencer.

CI41-120918

We have mixed up a few of our colour palettes this half year, allowing ourselves to be inspired by Stampin’ Up! new colour range. The three colours from the Regals range I have chosen to focus on are Blackberry Bliss (so happy to see this one back!!) and Old Olive and Crushed Curry.

Here is what I came up with.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Thank You thinlit, Petal Palette

I thought I’d show so love to a couple of my favourite stuff, waiting patiently on the shelf for me to get over my Holiday catalogue excitement – like that is going to happen soon huh?!

Starting with a Blackberry Bliss cardstock base, I have layered some Crushed Curry cardstock around some of that yummy new Festive Farmhouse Designer paper. This is new in the Holiday catalogue but has a great couple of woodgrain pieces which have become my favourites. Me thinks, I could use a whole pack of these two designs on their own!

First I stamped the DSP with the large leaf image from the Petal Palette stamp set with some Old Olive ink and adhered these three layers together. I die cut the thank you from some Blackberry Bliss cardstock and adhere this over the top. Finishing with a stamped flower from the same stamp set and colouring it with Crushed Curry Marker, I layered this on some Blackberry cardstock – punching both using Layering Circle framelits. Before adhering I applied a little snail adhesive and arranged some of that lovely polka-dot tulle ribbon to the back, so it framed the punched circle on three sides, then allow some extra length to flow from one edge to act like an underline of my sentiment.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Thank You thinlit, Petal Palette

I was having so much fun creating this, plus I needed a few more Thank You cards, I created some in a couple of different colours (ok so not all of these are form Regals! Sshhh – don’t tell Bronwyn, she’s up next!) and used Tropic Chic stamp set.

Why not join in this challenge and show us what you create with this collection. Remember choose 3 colours from Regals and you can use the Basics collection (Black, White and Vanilla) to compliment.

Next up on the hop is the amazing Bronwyn Eastley.

CTC195 – Festive Farmhouse

CTC-BlogBanner

It’s another hop with the Caseing The Catty crew and this week it’s all about the Festive Farmhouse suite, pages 12–17. Welcome if you are joining me here or if you have hopped over from Peta.

This weeks inspiration has come from the Noel card on the bottom of the main suite page.

CTC195

Here is where the inspiration took me.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Making Christmas Bright, Festive Farmhouse

I used different layer combination on my card, but I think the result is nice and clean. Using the Festive Farmhouse Design paper (OMG… so in love with this pack!) I layered this over a Chery Cobbler card base.

The two green punched elements are Call Me Clover and are from Petal & more thinlit dies. I used one of those gorgeous pearlized doilies and some Champagne foil to layer.

The stamp set I used is the Making Christmas Bright, the circle I stamped on some vellum so that you can still see some of the detail beneath it, and the sentiment I stamped on Whisper White and both these elements were punched using Circle framelits.

RosePacker18-61b

I didn’t over embellish this one as I thought the layers do all the work here. Keeping the stamping clean and simple helped to balance these layers too.

Next up on the hop is Sandra Collett.

Colour INKspiration – CI32

colourinkspiration-banner

Welcome to this colour challenge with the Colour INKspiration crew. Welcome if you have joined me from Rachel or if you are starting here with me. We have an awesome colour combination for you to play with this time, they are:

CI32-250418

Night of Navy, Pink Pirouette, Whisper White and Gold.

Here is my inspiration. I have gone with a Mothers Day themed card, using the A Mothers Flair stamp set.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, A Mothers Flair, Detailed Dragonflies

I have always found Pink Pirouette to be a very light shade of pink so when I want to use it for watercolouring backgrounds, getting a dark enough coverage, can be challenging. Obviously, water colouring washes out the colour, so this is how I went about achieving a darker background:

  • I used the ink pad and lightly tapped it directly on the cardstock, I used Shimmery White cardstock;
  • Next, I used an aqua painter and blended the ink together, providing a smooth appearance;
  • I repeated this process again, building up the depth in colour. This allowed for a more intense pink, than what the tradition ink would give; and
  • Lastly, I squeezed a few drops of water from the aqua painter and allowed them to drop on to the cardstock in different spots. This moved the ink around the surface of the cardstock, allowing it to pool in other places to create that watered edge look.
  • I dried it off with my heat tool, just for speed. But this can be air dried if time permits.

I love how it came together. Now to finish my card.

I overlayed the water coloured background onto Pink Pirouette cardstock, which was adhered to a Night of Navy cardbase.

The embellishments over the stop featured a flourish in Gold Foil from the Petals & More thinlit die set, a cut square using the Stitched Shapes Framelits, a 1 ½” circle punched from Whisper White cardstock. This was layered with a Scallop Circled punched shape from Pink Pirouette cardstock. Off the top right, featured a dragonfly in Gold Foil from the Detailed Dragonflies thinlit set.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, A Mothers Flair, Detailed Dragonflies

Lastly, my stamped images – I just love all the sweet girly style imagery that feature in the A Mother’s Flair stamp set. They are just so delicate and so very useful for many different occasions. There are a couple of sentiments that can be used for other occasions also, and a few that are Mother specific.

Here I stamped the hat in Night of Navy ink and fussy cut it. I coloured the flower with a Pink Pirouette marker and used dimensionals to adhere this over the circle punched shapes. I added my sentiment to the bottom right and finished off with a couple of gold faceted gems.

I really like how this turned out and look forward to giving this one away in a few weeks. I hope that I have inspired your Mothers Day projects. I know there are many out there who may not have their own mums along side them just now, but there are still a lot of Mums out there, many who are doing it tough. Stop and look around you and bless them with one of your lovely creations.

CTC174 – Hostess Sets and Memories & More

CTC-BlogBanner

Welcome to another week of Inspiration from the Caseing The Catty crew. I hope you are enjoying the hop so far.

This week, we are celebrating Memories & More products and Host Exclusive stamp sets. I have opted for Memories & More as I luuuuurrrrvvvv these card packs!

CTC174

My inspiration came from the Occasions catalogue. Page 24 has the Petal Passion Memories & More card pack, which is sadly retiring on May 31st. These card packs are traditionally for Photo pocket memory keeping system but can be adapted for many other uses. I was inspired by the card made for the photo page, to the right of the scrap page, in the banner image above.

I adapted the design to make it work on a card. Here is what I came up with…

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, One Big Meaning, Memories & More

Using the retiring Elegant Eggplant colour to contrast with the Petal Pink card, I created a Thank You card. I used the same card from the pack and layered some Whisper White cardstock between it and the card base.

I punched a circle from Eggplant card stock, using the Star burst punch and layered the sentiment on top. The sentiment is from One Big Meaning stamp set – another item on retiring on May 31st. I adhered the same punched flowers from the Petals & More thinlit die set. I added some Silver metallic thread to the back, before adhering with Dimensionals.

RosePacker18-19b

I added a little accent stamp in the background by stamping in the same ink colour as the cardstock. The little stamp is from Window Shopping stamp set – another item retiring on May 31st.

This is just one of the many uses these cards are great for. I really enjoy working with them and I’m sure I’ll be back with more projects using these cards.

Next up in the hop is the amazing Rebecca Scurr.

CTC168 – Petal Passion

CTC-BlogBanner

Oh… I just loved this suite from the minute I saw it in the Occasions catalogue. I mean it’s black and white, with lovely watercolour texture to the stamp imagery and DSP. The options for projects with this one is endless as you will see as you hop along with the Caseing The Catty Crew.

CTC168

Welcome if you have just joined me from Sandra or if you are starting here with me. There are so many ideas from these pages in the Occasions catalogue, you are bound to pick up a few.

This suite being black and white, has people deciding whether they like it or not. Me… I love that you can put any colour with it. Even some of the dark black pages of Designer Paper, can be teamed up with colour to life the heaviness. Here is my idea for you…

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up, Petal Passion

Here I have created two cards using the same design, one is basic creation and the second is a little more stepped up. But both show using one of the black based sheets of the Designer paper sparingly. Which is always a great approach when using strong colours. I don’t mind bold and dramatic most of the time, but sometimes you need to allow other elements to shine and this is a great way to achieve it.

I cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock down to 100mm x 142mm to work on, rather than working directly on to the card base this time. The strip of Designer paper is 25mm wide on both cards. The card bases are Whisper White Thick cardstock.

On the basic layout card, I stamped the leaves from the Petal Palette stamp set in Pear Pizzazz ink twice in two different directions, then layered the DSP over the top – adhering it so it hugged the left edge. I added my sentiment in Basic Black Archival ink and topped it with my flower arrangement.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up, Petal Passion

For this flower arrangement, I stamped the images in Basic Black archival ink and simply coloured them using markers. I punched them using the coordinating die.

With the stepped up version of this card, I replaced the stamped leaves with die cut ones from the Petal & More thinlit die set. I cut these from the green glimmer paper from the Magic & Myths pack. I adhered these using some Fine Tip Glue and then layered my designer paper the same way to the left edge.

RosePacker18-17c

I added some of that gorgeous Coral shimmery ribbon, which is a Sale-a-Bration exclusive available at the moment. The flower arrangement over the top is again stamped with Archival ink, but this time I coloured with Stampin’ Blends. Colouring with alcohol markers just gives a different look and a much richer shading. These were adhered on with Dimensionals to give some height.

If you started the hop from our Challenge group, then technically I am last in circle of hopping.

But if you are mid hop, next up is Judy May.
