Is it a bottle? Is it a balloon?

Just a quick little share for today, I saw a few crafters post this idea and I just loved it.

So when we had a big a birthday celebration come up within our family friends, I knew this would suit her perfectly. Ok so I may have coordinated this card to match in with the gift but it was perfect none the less.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Up and Away thinlits

I love the drama black creates and it coordinates so well with Copper foil, so that’s where I started. I made my perfume atomiser first, punching the intricate balloon from basic black cardstock and layering behind with copper foil, I love how the Up and Away thinlit die set has the die pieces to punch out the shapes needed to “colour” in the balloon – so very clever.

I stamped the smaller balloon with black Archival ink and made a tassel from solid black twine for the handle. I set those aside and moved onto the rest of the card.

I went for a square card this time (125mm), the shape just seemed to suit. I was able to work out the size of the inner square panels from my perfume bottle elements. I embossed the background with the Large Polka Dots embossing folder – sadly retiring tonight…

I cut a square panel from copper foil (95mm) and a whisper white layer piece (90mm). I tend to layer my pieces together to get a rough idea of how it’s going to come together before I permanently adhere anything in place. This worked really well for this design, as it allowed me to work out where the perfume elements will go and what white space was left.

I masked off triangle with post-it notes and used the spray paint splatter stamp from the Touches of Texture stamp set and Sahara Sand ink to create the perfume mist. I stamped a 40 in the top left corner, also in Sahara Sand ink.

At this point I began assembling my card, the whisper white panel to the copper foil (I like to use Liquid glue for this as I know it will stick to the shiny surface of the foil), then attached that layer to the base card with dimensionals.

I used dimensionals to adhere my hot air balloons, oops I mean perfume bottle, and then a few strategically placed glue dots to hold the tassel handle in place.

A simple happy birthday sentiment (this one is from the Party with Cake stamp set), placed in the bottom right to balance with the large 40, worked well.

So glad most of these products will be carrying over, I look forward to blending in my catalogue toys with these great ones.

Berry Lovely

I’ve been playing around with incorporating my new Stampin’ Up! toys into my existing collection of favourites. It’s always fun isn’t it, when you get new toys or new clothes to bring into the fold.

This week, my hubby asked me to make a card for a colleague of his – who has just been diagnosed with Stage 1 breast cancer. So I put on my thinking cap. I didn’t want to make just any old “thinking of you” card, I wanted it to be uplifting and positive.

This is what I came up with…

rosepacker_17-311

I love the Lift Me Up bundle – those hot air balloons can carry me away anywhere they would like! I thought this could be nice thoughts to have for someone who is about to undergo that kind of treatment. Positive thoughts of somewhere exciting to see her through some dark days. I particularly love the sentiment – again a message of thinking of you, but it a positive way.

Plus I wanted to incorporate the colour pink – as I quite often that colour is associated with Breast Cancer awareness. Here I have used new In Colours that are coming June 1st – Berry Burst, Powder Pink and that splash of yummy Lemon Lime Twist. I’ve used some of that lovely Woven Ribbon in Berry Burst, which is just so soft.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up! Lift me up, Up and away, Pretty Label punch

Tucked in behind the large hot air balloon is another sneak peak – it’s the Label Me Pretty stamp set and Pretty Label punch. Here I have used one of the decorative stamps in Powder Pink, punched it out using the new Label Love punch. Then I have framed it using another punched piece in Berry Burst – I simply snipped it down the middle lengthwise and adhered to the stamped shaped framing it nicely.

I finished off the card with some of those incredible Glitter Enamel Dots, I love the ombre shades they come in, allowing you to choose the right shade to match in with your project, plus they give a lovely sparkle without overpowering. I popped on two in darker shades on the larger balloon and one lighter shade on the smaller balloon.

I hope this card give her the lift she needs and lets her know she’s in our thoughts.

The layout for this card came from this weeks sketch challenge over at Freshly Make Sketches #FMS288. I enjoy playing along with their fun layouts.

Okay on to this weeks set of colours, we have – Gray, Yellow, Turquoise and White.

Here is the card I made… It’s a gate fold with a front panel.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up! Cupcake and Carousels, Birthday Carousel

I was really excited to see the diamond design paper in the Cupcakes & Carousels Designer series paper stack – perfect for this colour challenge.

I decorated the front with this paper on the base card panels. I used that gorgeous carousel from the Carousel Birthday stamp set, I just love those cupcake carriages! The Up & Away thinlit dies set has a little cloud like die that fits these cake toppers, making it so easy to stamp and punch colour coordinating carriage tops.

Here is how the fold looks from the top.

Inside, I wanted to neaten off the join where the front panel overlaps the base card front panel. This is how I achieved that – by sticking a coordinating piece of the diamond patterned DSP over the part sticking out. This made the join much smoother as they now sit at the same level. I added some more of the diamond patterned DSP down the right side of the white panel to match.

Oh and don’t you love how the sentiment on the front and inside work beautifully together? The styling just works too.

Okay… so now it’s your turn. I can’t wait to see what you create with these awesome colours. You have until Midday on Saturday 11th March (AEDT) to enter. The post will be live here on our Facebook Challenge Group – you just need to post your entry into the comments.

Balloons away – #CYCI144

Can You Case It?’s [CYCI#144] first colour challenge for 2017 are some of my favourites. Well… I feel like I need to say that as I suggested this yummy combination, LOL!

cyci144_080117

Seriously though, I’m sure you’ll agree, they are lovely and very summery. Check them out… Watermelon, Aqua, White and Light Gray.

Here is my inspiration using this colour combo.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up! Lift Me Up, Up & Away thinlit dies

Doesn’t this make you want to jump in that basket and go in search of Dorothy and Toto?!!

I’m totally in love with the Lift Me Up bundle in Stampin’ Up!’s Occasions catalogue. I love how the hot air balloons are sized differently, some are dies and some are stamps, but all work together to give you lovely coordination. On the card is the loveliest of the largest intricate balloon dies, then I have stamped two balloons from the coordinating set on the envelope. I just love how they all work together.

The background paper is the Carried Away Designer Series Paper set, which is a Sale-a-Bration freebie and designed to coordinate beautifully with this set. I added a layer of vellum over the top to dull some of those balloons, giving them the feeling that they are off in the distance. I added in some angles for interest.

I hope you are loving these colours and the inspiration the Can You Case It? Design team are sharing. You can join in by creating a project in these colours and loading it to Instagram, Pinterest, or other social media sites (ensure your post is public so we can visit!) or your blog. Link your post back to the CYCI website using the linky button thingy and you’re done. Entries close in a fortnight, that’s Midday Saturday 21st January – AEDT.

Looking forward to seeing what you create.
