CTC250 – Case a layout from page 46

CTC-BlogBanner

This weeks case is about the card design layouts on Page 46 of the Holiday Catalogue. The Casing The Catty crew have lots of inspiration for you using these few layouts. Welcome if you are joining me here, or have hopped over from Shannon.

CTC250.jpg

This week, I have focussed on the layout in the bottom left of the image. Here it features a Very Vanilla card base with Mint Macaron and Crumb Cake.

I have two cards for you this week… sadly I have had two people loose their much loved fur-babies this week. It’s bad enough when you have one of these events but to have two…

This first card, is for my parents. They lost their much loved Jack Russell, Zena, this week. Zena has been in our family for more than 15 years, joining us as pup. She lived to be more than 100 in dog years and lived a long happy and loving life with my parents. She was a little shadow for my Mum. following her around the house, nails clicking on the tiles behind Mum where ever she went.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Happy Tail, Dog Punch

I have featured the same colours, but rearranged them to use in different areas of the card, which gives the card a different look altogether. I have used the Happy Tails stamp set, and coordinating dog punch.

RosePacker19-37b

I layered some burlap ribbon beneath the Stitched Labels element which I stamped in Mint Macaron for some background interest. I featured the dog house stamp, fussy cut, beneath the sentiment layer and topped off with main dog stamp. I stamped him Soft Suede Ink and coloured him using Crumb Cake Blends.

The second card is for one of my class ladies. She is an older lady and this week lost her much loved and best friend Oscar. He was a white fluffy Maltese Terrior and always barked loudly on approached to her front door, announcing your arrival before reaching for the door bell! He was her much loved companion, so I know he’ll be terribly missed.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Happy Tail, Bella and Friends

For this card, I went a little different with the layout. Over a Gray Granite card base, I layered a piece of Gray Granite cardstock. First, I punched my Stitched Label shape and set that aside. I embossed the remaining piece with the Corrugated Embossing Folder and adhere this in place on my card base.

I looped the ribbon over the top of the embossed layer and adhered with Tear n Tape. I stamped the Label element in Gray Granite ink with elements from the Happy Tail stamp set. Adhering this over the top with Dimensionals.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Happy Tail, Bella and Friends

I finished off the card with one of the best sentiments ever made for those who love fur-babies like children… this one is also from the Happy Tails stamp set and I stamped it in Cherry Cobbler ink. I framed the sentiment with some leaves from the Leaf Punch and Soft Seafoam cardstock.

Little Bella, is from the Bella and Friends stamp set, which has retired. But it was just perfect resemblance to Oscar, so I had to use it.

Next up in the hop is the clever Lauren Meiklejohn.

Colour INKspiration – CI58

colink-blogbanner-v3

So good to be back hopping with the amazing team from the Colour INKspiration… and what a great colour combination too – thanks Kelly! Welcome if you have hopped over from Rachel or if you are joining me here. This colour combination is sure to inspire… Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Gold and Blushing Bride.

CI58

I went with making a card and using the every popular and gorgeous new Good Morning Magnolia.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Band Together, Good Morning Magnolia, Woven Heirlooms

I also couldn’t leave the Detailed Band die set alone again this time either. They are just toooooo goooood. I’m sure my class girls are rubbing their hands, knowing they will be using this set soon enough!!

Here I used the largest of the dies and cut it out of Gold Foil. I used my element to help position my stamping. I went with the smaller flower in the Magnolia set, I love the bud look. Here I stamped two in Crumb Cake ink and lightly coloured them in Blushing Bride ink using a blender pen.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Band Together, Good Morning Magnolia, Woven Heirlooms

The sentiment came from the Woven Heirlooms stamp set and I punched this using the frame from the same die set, it’s perfectly sized to coordinate of course. I wrapped the belly band tabs around the Whisper White layer and adhered it to my card base.

Keeping the card simple, I finished off with few Metallic Pearls in Gold.

Next up in the hop is the incredibly talented Denita.

So Long old favourites

57109765_10158325730414428_4678558642046238720_o

Today I’m hopping along with the ESAD demonstrator group as we celebrate retiring products from the 2018-2019 Annual and the 2019 Occasions catalogues.

There is more info about what ESAD is at the bottom of this post but briefly it’s community group for Australasian based Stampin’ Up! demonstrators. Today, we are bringing you some last ideas using some of our favourite Stampin’ Up! products, so grab a cuppa and sit back to enjoy this hop.

Today, I’m focussing on a Bundle that I thought was incredibly clever in how it was created. It’s the Serene Garden stamp set and Serene Scene die set.

148395G

What I really like about this bundle is how each of the stamps work individually, but when intertwined with the dies, they create really interesting layers, texture and dimension to your project.

Here is my card.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Serene Garden stamp set, Serene Scene thinlit dies

Being an outline stamped, it’s well suited to colouring. So here I have stamped in Mememto Black ink and coloured using Stampin’ Blends. Once I was happy with my base image colouring, I used the leaves die to punch out some of the leaves that scatter among the scene.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Serene Garden stamp set, Serene Scene thinlit dies

Next, I used the embossing die, which is exactly the same design and size at the stamp, to emboss a piece of Shaded Spruce cardstock. I cut the cardstock larger than my stamped image layer, so that it made it easier to line up the images. After embossing, I used dimensionals to adhere my white coloured layer over the embossed Spruce cardstock layer, allowing shadows to form which creates depth. Matching the stamped image over the embossed one perfectly, I trimmed down the spruce cardstock to the size I wanted. I overlayed some flowers in contrasting colours for some extra pop.

RosePacker19-19c

I really didn’t want to add too many other elements to this card and run the risk of them taking away from the main image. So, I opted for a simple sentiment tucked behind the main image and layered over the cardbase, which I embossed with the embossing die, to echo the pattern and add texture without adding some new.

Next up in the hop is Siobhan Fitzsimmons.

CTC184 – Delightfully Detailed

CTC-BlogBanner

It’s Caseing The Catty time and I’m so excited. Today, we are focussing on the Delightfully Detailed Suite – it’s one of my favourites. Welcome if you are joining me here or if you have hopped over from Elizabeth.

CTC184

I’m just so in love with this suite, it’s has so many different elements to work with and all coordinate so beautifully. It’s hard to go past that Laser Cut Specialty Designer paper pack though, isn’t it?

It’s dresses up the simplest of cards in such an awesome and stunning way, it doesn’t take much to make them work beautifully. This means quick and simple but stunning cards – just my cup of tea at the minute.

I have a couple of quick cards, I made recently showcasing some of this paper. This first one uses some of the lovely designs that make up the 12×12” piece.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Delightfully Detailed Laser cut paper, Detailed with Love

Here I have layered it up with some Bermuda Bay cardstock directly beneath the laser paper and then adhered to a cardbase in Coastal Cabana. The sentiment is from the Detailed with Love Stamp set from this suite and I used an oval die from Stitched Shapes framelits to punch it out. I love how it looks a bit like a decorative mirror. This has given me an idea!

The next card uses some of the laser cut borders that come in the pack too. Here I have used two different ones. On the card base, I have used one of the thin half loop edges, which I have coloured directly with my Night of Navy ink pad. I cut two strips and adhered it with some multipurpose liquid glue so that the straight edge aligned.

Next, I used the wider banner style strip and adhere to some Night of Navy cardstock, cut a flag to one end. I love the contrast of White and Navy.

RosePacker18-48a

I used the banner element as a guide to stamp my flowers in Grapefruit Grove. I wanted a subtle stamp effect, so used the small outline flower stamp from Oh So Eclectic. I overlayed my sentiment and finished off the card with a few simple pearls from the Share What You Love pack.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Delightfully Detailed Laser cut paper, Painted Glace

Next up on the hop, is the lovely Sandra Collett.

CTC175 – Favourite Occasions Big Shot Project

CTC-BlogBanner

I don’t know about favourite…. There are just waaaay to many great projects using the big shot, it was really hard to choose. Welcome to Caseing The Catty where this week, we are looking at big shot projects.

CTC175

Here is my card…

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Lovely Words, Petty Kitty

Here I have used Foil Frenzy Specialty paper stack to cover the card front. I used the Parquetry style pattern in Soft Sky. I overlayed this with a piece of Soft Sky card stock. I stamped the bottom with a couple of those cute and mischievous kittens.

I overlayed a circle in Whisper White cardstock punched using the Stitched Shapes framelit. I just love them. The sentiment is one of the thinlits from the Lovely Words thinlit die set, here I have snipped it out of the frame to use on it’s own. I added more words to it to create the sentiment. These are from the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Lovely Words, Petty Kitty

I topped it off with the Pansy from Birthday Blossom stamp set and one of those metallic rimmed pearls.

Nice and bright and sparkly – just enough to brighten the recipient’s day.

Next up in the hop is the ever amazing Kelly Kent.

CTC147 – Christmas Around the World

CTC-BlogBanner2

Welcome if you are joining me here for my regular Sunday Blog hop with the Caseing The Catty crew. You may have just joined me from Rebecca Scurr, I hope you are enjoying the inspiration the crew has posted so far.

This week, we are focussing on the Christmas around the World suite on pages 28 & 29 of the Holiday. Can I just say, I really haven’t paid this suite the attention it deserves. I don’t own anything from this suite but in taking a good look at it for this Challenge, I have now added that bundle to the wishlist. That lamp post is just so clever, with the stamps design to hang like banners.

CTC147_240917

There is just the one main image of creations in this section, but gee there is heaps happening in every aspect of it. So much to look at and take in.

I decided to focus my attention on this card…

Holiday17_p28a

There is the DSP in the background and the sentiment is hanging like a banner off the silver washi tape.

Here is my creation…

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up! Colour Theory Suite

I embossed some of the Crushed Curry DSP from the Colour Theory suite with the Hexagon Dynamic Embossing Folder as my background. I layered a card from the Colour Theory Memories and More pack in a similar position to the green cardstock in the catalogue.

I added the tree to the opposite of the card from the banner sentiment and added my own sentiment waving off the tree trunk. I added a few flowers to the tree and finished off with a bow made from the Jute twine.

Colour Challenge – CYCI#165

Over at Can You Case it? This week we have another colour challenge. Crystal has come up with a great combination of Yellow, Purple, Pink and Brown.

CYCI#165_160717

At first, I had to stop and think about these colours. After pulling out cardstock in these shades of colours, it started to come together and this is what I came up with.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up! Tranquil Tulips

Playing a little more with the Tranquil Tulips stamp set, I create some purple and yellow tulips by stamping the background in a lighter shade and forefont of the tulip in a darker one.

I used Wisteria Wonder for the background of my purple tulips and So Saffron for the yellow. Over the top, I stamped Elegant Eggplant for the purple and Crushed Curry for the yellow, I stamped these on some scrap and fussy cut them to adhere over the top with some dimensionals for some additional height.

I stamped the stems in Crumb cake and adhere this over the top of Powder Pink cardstock over the Crumb Cake base layer.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up! Tranquil Tulips

I topped off the card with some burlap trim and some Shimmer Ribbon in Powder Pink. I added a sentiment stamped in Powder Pink and adhered it all together with some Tear and Tape for additional strength.

With just a couple of weeks left of Can You Case it?, I would love to see you join in. Head over to the Facebook Group and see the rest of the design teams inspiration. Load up your entry by midday, next Saturday 22nd.

What I used to make this:

Berry Lovely

I’ve been playing around with incorporating my new Stampin’ Up! toys into my existing collection of favourites. It’s always fun isn’t it, when you get new toys or new clothes to bring into the fold.

This week, my hubby asked me to make a card for a colleague of his – who has just been diagnosed with Stage 1 breast cancer. So I put on my thinking cap. I didn’t want to make just any old “thinking of you” card, I wanted it to be uplifting and positive.

This is what I came up with…

rosepacker_17-311

I love the Lift Me Up bundle – those hot air balloons can carry me away anywhere they would like! I thought this could be nice thoughts to have for someone who is about to undergo that kind of treatment. Positive thoughts of somewhere exciting to see her through some dark days. I particularly love the sentiment – again a message of thinking of you, but it a positive way.

Plus I wanted to incorporate the colour pink – as I quite often that colour is associated with Breast Cancer awareness. Here I have used new In Colours that are coming June 1st – Berry Burst, Powder Pink and that splash of yummy Lemon Lime Twist. I’ve used some of that lovely Woven Ribbon in Berry Burst, which is just so soft.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up! Lift me up, Up and away, Pretty Label punch

Tucked in behind the large hot air balloon is another sneak peak – it’s the Label Me Pretty stamp set and Pretty Label punch. Here I have used one of the decorative stamps in Powder Pink, punched it out using the new Label Love punch. Then I have framed it using another punched piece in Berry Burst – I simply snipped it down the middle lengthwise and adhered to the stamped shaped framing it nicely.

I finished off the card with some of those incredible Glitter Enamel Dots, I love the ombre shades they come in, allowing you to choose the right shade to match in with your project, plus they give a lovely sparkle without overpowering. I popped on two in darker shades on the larger balloon and one lighter shade on the smaller balloon.

I hope this card give her the lift she needs and lets her know she’s in our thoughts.

The layout for this card came from this weeks sketch challenge over at Freshly Make Sketches #FMS288. I enjoy playing along with their fun layouts.

Sketch Challenge – CYCI#153

You know I’m a big fan of sketch challenges and this week at Can You Case It? we have our next sketch layout to follow along with.

CYCI#153_090417

Here is what I made.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Detailed Dragonflies thinlits

I went dramatic and bold this week with black and gold colours, but it’s always simple and elegant at the same time.

I dry embossed the background cardbase with the Softly Falling embossing folder and used a black square framed slightly with the gold one over the top.

The cute little bee is from the Detailed Dragonflies thinlit dies. Those Dragonflies are just so gorgeous, that poor little bee gets left behind a little. So used I punch one out in gold foil and popped him on and added the “just a note….” sentiment, from the Better Together stamp set, embossed in gold to coordinate.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Detailed Dragonflies thinlits

I added some gold sequins dotted along closely to the sketch to finish off.

Sketch challenges are a great way to start off playing with challenge groups like this. So why not play along, they are another way to get some crafting done, make that card on your “to do” list and have some fun along the way.

This challenge is open until Midday next Saturday, April 15th (AEST). I can’t wait to see what you create with this sketch, once you’ve created your project, head over to the Facebook Group and load it up in the comments of the Sketch image.

Until next time… Stamp Creatively,

What I used to make this:

Thinking of You

How awesome is that Copper embossing powder? Have you gotten your hands on it yet? OMG… so in love. I haven’t done a lot of heat embossing of late…. I’m not sure why, but since getting my hand on this new colour, it’s reinvigorated my love for it. I’m sure you’ll be seeing a lot more embossing coming up.

Rose Packer CreativeRoses Stampin' Up! Time of Year

So the story around this card is a sad one. This is the card I made for my gorgeous sister recently after the passing of my brother-in-law. I kept it simple but added some interest with offsetting the coloured cardstock layers.

I just love that big Thinking of You stamp. It’s from the Time of Year stamp set, which is a host exclusive set. Visit here for more info on how you can earn host exclusive sets.

I topped it off with some floral elements from the Botanical Builder framelit die set.

Until next time… Stamp Creatively,
Rose
