Casing The Catty are visiting one of my favourite sections of the Occasions catalogue this week – the Happiness Blooms Suite, pages 24 to 33. Welcome if you are joining me here or if you have hopped over from Rachel.

You might remember, the Happiness Blooms suite is the one I presented at OnStage last November, so it holds a special place in my heart! This week, I decided to draw inspiration from the products themselves, more specifically, the punches.

This suite features 4 mini punches called Bitty Blooms punch pack and is bundled with the Bloom by Bloom stamp set for easy coordination for layering rather than stamping and punching like normal. Three are obvious flower shapes, which work stand alone or you can punch shapes from the coordinating Designer Series paper from this suite, plus you get one that works like a builder punch and I’ll focus on him next.

Today, I wanted to show you a couple of neat things with these punches. Here on my first card, I have punched a few shapes, to layer over some of the stamp images.

Stamping some of the flower stamps together to make a full flower. I have decorated the centre of the flowers with punched shapes to cover any overlap in stamping and topped off with some of those yummy enamel dots.

I layered this over some cardstock and topped with some of the cute Sale-a-Bration ribbon, to make the top element. Then I finished off with a strip of the Happiness Blooms designer paper over the Night of Navy cardbase.

I wanted to spend a minute just talking about the builder-style punch in this mini punch pack. I think this is one of punches that will be under-utilised, unless you are also working with it’s best friend – the Take Your Pick tool. OMG – match made in heaven.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Happiness Blooms, Bloom by Bloom, Bitty Bloom punch pack

Making flowers like the one featured on this card, takes a minute when you pair them together. Here I have punched out a bunch of petals and a stamen from just thin scraps and a minute later this flower emerges.

I have put together this quick little video to show you how I created this flower.

I think you would be able to create a garden of flowers like these for lots of different projects, plus I’m sure this punch can be used for lots of other uses too.

Don’t let this punch get pushed to the back of the cupboard, use it, it’s really cool.

Next up in the hop is Peta!

Happiness Blooms at OnStage IV

I love the Memories and More product line, it’s great as it’s so versatile. I was so excited to see that the Happiness Blooms suite will have a coordinating Memories and More card pack and Notecard and envelope pack.

The card pack is really awesome as it features two sticker sheets, 6 single-sided specialty cards with a shiny spot varnish, plus the regular 6×4” 4×3” cards.

Here I have used some of the feature cards and teamed them up with the Notecard and envelope pack to make some cards really quickly and easily. You can keep card making with Memories and More really simple like the card on the right here….

Or you can step it up a little by adding in a few elements, like I did with the card on the left. Here I cut out the sentiment and layered it over some coordinating cardstock – I chose Pineapple Punch to coordinate with the stamens – and finished it off with some silver metallic thread. I popped it back on using dimensionals.

Here I have used another feature card on a notecard base and added some simple punched shapes from the Designer paper pack using some of the coordinating Bitty Bloom punches.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Happiness Blooms Suite, Memories and More

While this did take a little more time, partly because I can be indecisive, I “Umed” and “Aghed” over where to place my flowers, it was easy enough to complete. I used some dimensionals to pop up some of the flowers to help add some interest.

This next card was our Make & Take at OnStage, what I really liked about this was here, we used the cards cut to size. So the strip of blue for our sentiment was cut down from the 4×3” card, there is another card backing the stamped image. We even got to use one of the specialty cards, here we cut a flag to one end and layered it on the cardbase, when you move it slightly back and forth – it shines. We all love shine and bling don’t we?!

But of course the cards are designed for Memory Keeping as well, and I think there is a great combination of journaling and filler cards in both sizes. Here I have created a page for my Alaska album. I have added some stickers over some photo pockets…

I have also added some stamped images over the top of one of the filler card to create my own decorative one to suite my theme.

And because the printed design of these card match the stamps, it really easy to create a cover page for your daily album.

As you can see, there is so much to get busy with in just the Memories and More section of this suite.

CI45 – Happiness Blooms at OnStage III

So sometimes it takes looking at something in a different colour to know if it’s going to work for you. That’s what I have done with today’s Happiness Blooms at OnStage post. I’ve created a card in this fortnights colour challenge for Colour INKspiration.

Welcome if you are joining me here or if you have hopped over from Tanya Bell. Our colour challenge this fortnight centres on 2017-2019 InColour range. I can’t believe we only have a little over six months before these awesome colours retire….

CI45-141118

I’ve used the Bloom by Bloom stamp set to show you how it these stamps can work in a different colour combination. Take a look…

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Bloom by Bloom, Happiness Blooms suite, 2017 InColors

So here I have used the large Tulip stamp and inked it in Powder Pink, then I used a sponge dauber to apply some Berry Burst ink to the top of the flower and down the sides a little. I stamped this first and then stamped the large stem in Tranquil Tide. Next was the smaller stem, off to the side followed by the smaller tulip coloured the same way.

That a great tip too by the way…. I found, in some cases, stamping the flower image first was easier. It would allow me to position it and angle it just the way I wanted it to sit. Then adding the stem later fitted in easy.

I finished off my tulips by adding some stamen in Lemon Lime Twist ink. I layered the Whisper White stamped cardstock on some Lemon Lime Twist cardstock and wrapped a piece of the Ombre ribbon around before apply dimensions. Then attached it to my Berry Burst cardbase.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Bloom by Bloom, Happiness Blooms suite, 2017 InColors

I tied a separate bow in the Ombre ribbon and attached it to the card with a glue. Then stamped the the sentiment in Tranquil Tide ink beneath the raised feature.

I really enjoyed making these, so made a few…

Happiness Blooms at OnStage II

Seriously, look at all those image stamps in the Bloom by Bloom stamp set! I bet your wondering what on earth to do with some of them. I know I was… at first…

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Bloom by Bloom, Happiness Blooms suite

Like I mentioned in yesterday’s post, which I kicked off this series of posts, this set features 17 different stamps and they are all images – no sentiments here. Again, this creates versatility as we are not locked in to any one occasion.

With so many images featuring bold strong shapes, you can create flowers with some by teaming them up with either of the stems. Or you can do what I have done here and create a background pattern.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Bloom by Bloom, Happiness Blooms suite, Tropical Chic

Here, I stamped images randomly over some Whisper White cardstock in coordinating colour ink. I layered this over some of the Happiness Blooms designer paper, I used the pattern design that is shades of Call Me Clover so that is blended rather than competed.

That’s a good tip I tend to employ when using Designer Paper packs like this one. An effective way to use paper that features bold colours and/or busy patterns, is to team them up with a monochromatic. This way, the patterns blend together and the colours stop competing with each other. Like this…

I think the 2018 InColour Designer Paper stack is going to be a BFF to the Happiness Blooms pack… just take a look at the monochromatic coordinating happening here…

I offset the stamped layer and the DSP so they sit on angles to each other over the cardbase in Call Me Clover. I embossed the front with the Dot to Dot textured impressions embossing folder.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Dot to Dot EF, Happiness Blooms suite

I love this fun polka-a-dot pattern, it coordinates with patterns in the DSP and the Memories and More cards too. But I also like how other existing trims, like the Polka-a-Dot Tulle ribbon, coordinate too.

I used some of the gorgeous Calypso Coral satin ribbon from the suite and some more DSP under the sentiment, which came from the Tropical Chic stamp set. Here I have stamped Calypso Coral ink on the same colour cardstock, to help it blend.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Bloom by Bloom, Happiness Blooms suite

Then to top it off, I have punched a flower from the DSP with another shape in the Bitty Bloom punch pack and topped this off, and some of the stamped flowers, with my favourite the enamel dots.

I’ll be back tomorrow with some more sneak peaks of this amazing suite.

Happiness Blooms at OnStage

I have some very exciting new to share… I had the honour of presenting a Product Spotlight at Stampin’ Up!’s Melbourne (Australia) OnStage event at the weekend.

Just in case you are not sure, a Product Spotlight is when we demonstrators get to see a whole new suite of products coming in the next catalogue. It’s usually presented by another demonstrator, who has worked with Stampin’ Up! staff to ensure the presentation works well.

It was truly a great experience and certainly a nerve-racking one, as presenting means up on a stage in front of more 500 demonstrators and Stampin’ Up! staff. Weeks of planning and preparing came together really well and I was so excited to have over-come nervousness to deliver the important information I had discovered first about the products in this suite.

So I thought I would share with you a project each day, for the next little bit to help inspire your creativity with this suite and offer some extra tips and tricks, I discovered when working with this suite. This will help you when you buy the products and begin using them.

I presented the Happiness Blooms suite and I know when you receive your catalogues from next month, you are going to love all the products that make up this suite.

This first project was one of my favourite creations using a little something from almost all the products. It’s a great way to introduce them to you too.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, #onstage2018, Happiness Blooms Suite, Bloom by Bloom

The main feature is that gorgeous tulip stamp. It comes from the Bloom by Bloom stamp set, which is photopolymer and features 17 different stamps. It only has image stamps too, so we can team it up with another stamp set for a sentiment, making it really versatile.

Here I have fussy cut two of the stamped images, which is easy to do as they are nice clean flat shapes. I’ve used two of this years In-Colours – Call Me Clover and Pineapple Punch.

The tulip is framed by those angles – on the left we have Lovely Lipstick cardstock (another In-Colour) and here I have embossed it with the Dot to Dot textured impression embossing folder. It features a fun polka-dot pattern which is echoed in other products, so you’ll find it easy to coordinate. On the right, is my favourite pattern from the Designer Series Paper pack. I love this one – the Pineapple Punch just pops right out of the Night of Navy background. It’s 12”x12” and features strong flat floral designs on one side and generic patterns on the other. The pack itself features bold colours and shapes. (Stay tuned I have some great tips coming on how to work with those).

RosePacker18-78b

I have used one of the four mini punches from the Bitty Bloom Punch Pack – here I have punched out some flowers from the patterns in the DSP. Last, I have topped them with some of those gorgeous little Enamel Dots – OMG, I’m so in love with these, it’s not funny. You are going to see them everywhere!

So stayed tuned to my blog this week, for more project ideas with this gorgeous new suite coming in the Occasions Catalogue in January 2019.

It was truly an honour to have been asked by Stampin’ Up! to present the Happiness Blooms suite, certainly a career milestone.
