Colour Challenge – CYCI#152

As I was rummaging through my drawers for the combination of colours for this challenge, I found some pre made element in my drawers – like the embossed Mint cardstock, a precut and scored cardbase in Sahara Sand, the strip of Designer series paper in Turquoise and the ring in Melon Mambo. Obviously left over elements from previous creations, so I added those in to my challenge this week to see how I could incorporate them.

I liked the colour combination this made and was close to the Can You Case It? #152 challenge colours for this week. Amber always has a colour combo up her sleeve. Check them out.

Here is what I created with these elements. A simple but colourful Hello card.

I have missing a few of my stamps of late – you know those ones that sit quietly and patiently on your shelf waiting for you to notice them again. The cute little flower is from the Bloomin’ Love stamp set, which is about a year old now but haven’t used them lately.

Here I inked up the little flower using markers to get that coloured in look. I stamped it on some whisper white, which I had pre-punched with my Stitched Shapes framelits and adhered my Melon Mambo ring too. That gave me my boundaries for the stamped images. I added a little hello stamp in Tempting Turquoise to finish off.

Bloomin’ sparkly

I’ve been having some fun with this die over the past week, using it in my class last weekend and other fun projects of late.

I love making wedding cards, it’s a bit like Christmas, it’s one of those occasions where “bling” is never too much!! I CASEd this card from my stamping friend Carly Middleton. She shared this card and I have been wanting to make my own. So when I was asked to make a wedding card for a friend recently, this was my chance.

This is what I made. Similar but different.

I seem to be outlining the banner stamp and frame quite a bit. I did this originally at Christmas when I made the framed decorator piece and a few times since. I guess I like the double shape and lift it gives.

Here is how I do this:

I used the banner stamp and framelit in the usual way – stamp and punch. But then I created the frame for my stamped piece by punching out another full banner in the silver foil and slicing it in half. I adhered this to the top and bottom of my stamped piece, matching them up with an even border.

Next I punched another two flag end pieces out of the foil and fixed that to the sides matching up the flag ends. I think it works well.
