CTC227 – Favourite Retiring Bundle

CTC-BlogBanner

Okay, so I always find it really hard to choose favourites, I mean, really, isn’t everything a favourite one way or another. This week the Caseing The Catty crew are focussing on favourite bundles. So sit back and grab a cuppa for some last inspiration using these retiring favourites.

CTC227

For this challenge I decided to go with this bundle – Floral Frames. It’s made up of the Floral Frames stamp set and the Foliage Frame framelit dies. I’m really sad they are retiring, they were new additions to the current catalogue and I kind of feel like they haven’t had enough time to shine. I love the stamp designs, they are just so lovely, you can create a simple stunning card, But my favourite things is the way the stamps and dies overlap making it really easy  to create depths with layers. My inspiration came from the card featured on page 135 of the Annual catalogue.

Here is my card.

I love the die with the foliage that emerges from the side of the circle. It’s just so lovely and creates a great frame for a circle centre feature. Whether that be a sentiment or more imagery.

Here I decided to create window to peak through. With the sentiment stamped on the inside, a window brings to the front of the card too.

First, I stamped the large circle stamp with foliage on the card front in Tranquil tide. I coloured some of the leaves with my Lemon Lime Twist marker and then overlayed the die-cut, but offset the foliage so that you can still see many of the elements.

Using one of the layering circle framelits, I punched the window through the centre of the layers. This allowed me to stamp the sentiment through the window so that it aligns nicely in the centre.

Then I decorated the top with some stamped, punched and coloured flowers plus a couple of additional leaves punched from Lemon Lime Twist cardstock. I added some Wink of Stella to the flowers and to the Lime leaves (it’s always hard to photograph!), which adds a lovely shimmer. To finish off, I scattered some pearls from the Share what You Love Artisan Pearls pack.

This design works for many occasions, I have even made a Mothers Day card.

Beautifully Detailed designer paper

This week, I’m playing along with the latest sketch from Freshly Made Sketches, #FMS371

fms final 371-001

I guess we loved the laser cut paper pack in the Annual catalogue so much, Stampin’ Up! thought we could use some more. So here I have used the new Beautifully Detailed Laser Cut paper pack from the Occasions Catalogue.

I really enjoy working with this type of paper, even though it can be a little tricky to handle, so I thought I’d share with you how I used here, on this card….

rosepacker19-05a

Here, I have started with a Basic Gray cardbase layer and I’ve used the Beautifully Detailed laser cut paper to layer over the base. The paper comes in Whisper White on one side and Petal Pink on the reverse. I’ve kept to the white for a clean look.

To make handling this type of paper easier, I try to handle it as little as possible. So for this card, it was a little easier to just lay the paper flat on my desk with the pink side facing up. I applied adhesive and then placed my card base down onto the designer paper. I pressed down to ensure it stuck well.

After a few minutes, I carefully lifted the cardstock and laser cut paper, turning it over to reveal the front. Then I simply snipped off the paper, using my cardbase as the guide.

Next, I set about decorating the front. I used a stip of that amazing Lovely Lipstick foil sheets, from the Sale-a-Bration catalogue. I topped this with a square piece of Whisper White cardstock and using the Detailed Trio punch, I rounded the corners and punched a decorative element to just one of them.

I finished off with a simple “hello” sentiment from the Floral Frames stamp set, which I punched used the circle die from the Stitched Label Frames framelits.

CTC192 – Tranquil Textures

CTC-BlogBanner

I’m so excited to be back hopping with the amazing girls from Caseing The Catty. This week we are drawing inspiration from the Tranquil Textures suite and up to page 163.

This week, I was inspired by this card design…

I really like all the layers in the stamping in this card, this is where the texture is. Even though I didn’t use quite so many layers, I combined mine card with strength in colour, so I felt it didn’t need as many.

Here I changed out the main element for the ever amazing Foliage Frames framelit set and the coordinate stamps, Floral Frames.

I opted to keep it neutral by using shades of the same hue and then add just a zing of colour. So used some Tranquil Textures Designer paper coordinated with some Granny Apple Green (which is fast becoming a favourite! I don’t even know when I started liking greens!!)

I did add some texture style stamping in the background using Timeless Textures and some Granny Apple Green and Soft Seafoam inks.

My zing of colour is Lovely Lipstick. I’ve added a layer of cardstock beneath the white, which I have made appear so very thin. I have also stamped and punched some flowers in Lipstick which I have layered beneath the main sentiment element. I have tucked them in underneath so they are only just peaking out. Then I have used this on my sentiment also.

Next up on the hop is Sandra Collett.
