Creative Club Class – 2

Bold and Bright is the Birthday Bound suite

This month’s online class features the bold and bright Broadway Bound Suite, which I am really enjoying at the moment. You can find them in the 2018 Annual Catalogue on pages 68 and 69.

It’s a lovely sparkly and bright combination of colours and design. Change up the colours, you put with it and you can make great projects for our men folk too. The bundle has the Broadway Birthday stamp set and the Broadway Lights framelits. This months class also features a little sneak peak from the upcoming Holiday catalogue (coming September 5th).

See the Broadway Bound suite here.

Colour INKspiration – CI35

colourinkspiration-banner

Welcome to the first Colour INKspiration challenge of this new Annual Catalogue. You maybe starting here with me or have hopped over from Nicole, either way I hope you enjoy the inspiration the crew have put together for you.

With the colour revamp that came with this Annual, we’ll be celebrating the new configurations of the collections during the first challenge of the month. The second challenge will be a regular colour palette to play along with.

This challenge we are focussing on the Neutrals collection. For this challenge you can choose any 3 colours from this palette plus you can add Basics (Black, Whisper White and Very Vanilla) and metallics of course.

Today, I have used Merry Merlot, Gray Granite and Sahara Sand from the Neutrals collection and teamed them up with some Basic Black and Silver. Merlot and Granite are both new colours to Stampin’ Up!, merlot is a lovely red wine kind of hue and Granite is warm gray.

Here is the card I created…

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Broadway Bound, Broadway Lights, Art Deco

I used the Broadway Birthday bundle, which includes Broadway Birthday stamp set and Broadway Lights Framelit set. This set just screams Art Deco to me and I just love that style. I particularly enjoy the architecture features that adorned that era. I am busy creating in that style with this set just now.

On this card, I started with the angles… I decided on my black card base. The first layer I went with was Merry Merlot – I decided on the angle I liked and then covered the back with some Multipurpose Liquid Glue. This is a good option as it gives a little wiggle room to get the angle just right. Once adhered, I flipped my card over and trimmed off the excess cardstock with a blade knife. Next was the Sahara Sand layer – again, getting a visual on the angle, covering the back with some liquid glue, adhering, flip over the card and trim the excess.

Once this (the hard part!) was done, it was easier to see how the rest would come together – some silver mini sequin trim helped soften the transition from one colour to the next. I created the main element by die cutting the “light box” from Basic Black cardstock and layering some Silver foil behind it, so they looked like bright lights blinking away.

I stamped the sentiment, which is the main feature and layered the “light box” over it, trimmed off the excess cardstock and adhered the element on with some dimesionals.

I finished off by stamping some simple birthday elements in the bottom left in Gray Granite ink.

As I sat back and admired my creation, I thought I should have rounded off the corners!! Curves and rounded corners are an identifying feature of Art Deco style…. Well, that just means there is more creating to do!

But I’ll leave that idea for another time, next up in the hop is the wonderful Julia Quinn.
