Colour Challenge – CYCI#154

Happy Easter everyone! Is everyone chocolated out yet? Is that even possible? I hope not as the colour chocolate features in this weeks’ colour challenge over at Can You Case It?

We have another gorgeous colour combination for you to create with. Take a look – Chocolate, Sky Blue, White and Light Gray.

CYCI#154_160417

This is such a lovely combination that could be suited to any number of occasions. Here is my inspiration…

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Vertical Garden, Grateful Bunch

Starting with a standard size card base in Soft Sky, I layered a piece of Chocolate Chip. Then I water coloured a background on with my aqua painters, to create a wash.

I did this by adding a two drops of Marina Mist ink to a small container and 3 – 4 drops of water from my brush and mixing. Before washing my Shimmery White cardstock, I dabbed my brush off on some scratch paper, to lighten the colour. Starting from the middle of my cardstock I painted outward to the edge creating a semi-circle. After rotating my cardstock, I repeated this motion until I had a circle of light blue wash.

I allowed about 10 minutes of drying time before adding my flecks. I did this by dipping my aqua painter in to my ink and then, using my cap, I flicked the brush across my cardstock, allowing the flecks to settle randomly. I let this dry for several hours before returning to complete the card.

In the meantime, I inked up the Hello stamp, from the Vertical Garden stamp set, in Chocolate Chip and stamped on some Whisper White. Using the corresponding hello stamp and Smokey Slate ink, I created the light shadow. I trimmed flag ends by hand and applied dimensionals to the back. Wrapping some Silver thread around the back, I adhered this to the card front.

I finished off with a some little flowers from the Grateful bunch stamp set and the coordinating Blossom punch.

I hope you enjoyed this little project and hope you find all the design teams projects inspiring too. Visit our Facebook challenge group for their inspiration. This Challenge will run for two weeks, as our North American friends enjoy their spring break and will close Midday, Saturday April 29th (AEST). Looking forward to seeing what you create.

Until next time… Stamp Creatively,

Congrats natural elements

Another couple of favourite products feature on today’s Congrats card.

I love the brayer, sadly for me, I haven’t used it much in the last few years. I guess I have had so many other things to play with I had forgotten about lil’ ol’ brayer.

Rose Packer CreativeRoses Grateful Bunch Stampin' Up!

Featuring the emboss resist technique, I first stamped my imagery in VersaMark. Here i used the leaf image from the Grateful Bunch stamp set. Next I sprinkled over white embossing powder and heat set it. Next I created a coloured panel over the top using two complimentary green inks.

Starting with Mint Macaroon, I inked up the brayer, by gently rolling it over the ink pad until the ink evenly coated the roller. Next, I lightly rolled the brayer over top of my embossed image, to apply the ink. I just kept rolling over and over the image until the ink was evenly applied to my panel. Next came Cucumber Crush, with this colour I only rolled the ink over part of the embossed image, allowing the Mint to shine through too.

I added a layered flower from the same stamp set and its coordinating Blossom Bunch punch and finished the card off with my other favourite retiring item – Expressions natural elements.

The layout for this card, came from the sketch layout challenge over at Can You Case it? [#122]. I hope they like my take on the sketch.

I created this card for a special lady in my team. I hope she likes it!

Retirement day mixed emotions

What a day it’s been today with the excitement of the Retirement List release. This is the day when we find out what stamps and accessories are retiring from the 2015-16 Annual Catalogue and current Occasions catalogue.  It’s a day I always greet with mixed emotions.

At first, I’m saddened when I see some of my favourites make the list (ok a lot of my favourites, lets face it everything is my favourite!). But then it is quickly followed by a sense of excitement for the upcoming new products. I am always thinking… “if this is going, what is coming?!”

One of hot items that always sells out fast on Retirement day are the InColour products. This year we are saying goodbye to Blackberry Bliss (my favourite by far), Lost Lagoon (so going to miss this one too), Tangelo Twist, Hello Honey and Mossy Meadow.

Today also marks a special shopping day – it’s the only day you can shop from the Retiring List (up to 50% off), the Weekly Deals (which finishes up tonight) and the Clearance Rack (up to 80% off). Lots of Bargains to be had one this one day – Today! Products are only available while stocks last though. So if you are thinking of shopping, shop here pretty soon.

Today, I’m sharing the project I did with my Stamp Club this month. It featured the colours Lost Lagoon and Tangelo Twist from the retiring InColour collection.

Themed for Mother’s Day, this card design would also make a great layout for any occasion though. The lovely dots in the leafy stem, is just lovely. I gushed over it in my last post too. It’s from the Grateful Bunch stamp set and coordinates with the Blossom Bunch Punch.

Take note of the Tangelo Twist (orange) frame around the raised stamped decorative element. I’ll be coming back to you soon, with the challenge I set for my stamp club team members.

The retiring list items will be available while stocks last or until May 31st.

Until next time… Stamp Creatively,
Rose.

Clean and simple

Sometimes we need a few cards up our sleeve that are clean, simple and most of all quick to make. I haven’t had a lot of time to stamp lately (waaa…) so something like this was the order of the day.

Have a play with my Grateful Bunch stamp set and coordinating Blossom Punch I created this little number. It was inspired by cards I’ve created before and also surfing social media.

RosePacker16-17

I love those dotted leaves, it’s nice to have a stamp that is not a solid line in my collection. I have so many leaves but they are all different and give different look and feel to each project made. This one keeps with my quick, clean and simple theme.

Until next time… Stamp Creatively,
Rose.
