CTC228 – Favourite Retiring stamp set

CTC-BlogBanner

Favourite retiring stamp set….. Hmmm…. It was a hard one, I mean there were so many stamp sets I have, that I hadn’t finished with yet, it really was hard to pick a favourite. That’s the theme for this weeks Casing the Catty hop – favourite retiring stamp set. So sit back and take a look at the inspiration the crew has for you this week.

I settled on the background stamp Marbled. It’s one I have had for a while but haven’t used in a while either. I think that’s why it’s retiring :(. But I love how you can use it for some many different occasions when themed up differently too – it could look like icing when teamed up with birthday cake type stamps.

I just let the stamp set itself inspire what I created today. Being a big background stamp, I went for something dramatic by stamping it in some black ink and teaming it up with Bermuda Bay and some Rose pink accessories. Keeping the stamped image as the only featured black colour, makes it really stand out.

After stamping, I added some splatters of the lovely Rose Gold shimmer paint – featured in this months special, Everything is Rosy product medley. I simply picked up paint with an empty Wink of Stella brush and used the lid to flick the tip thus splattering paint across my stamped image.

Once dry, set about finishing my card…. I added some mini striped ribbon before layering over some Bermuda Bay cardstock for the base.

I punched a doily and some leaves from the Rose Glimmer paper and larger leaves from Whisper White and Bermuda Bay cardstock. I layered them until I was happy with the arrangement. My sentiment is from the Detailed with Love stamp set, another retiring stamp set. I embellished the corners with the Trio Corner punch and some of those gorgeous Pink Gems, which I seriously have not used enough!

I love how it turned out.

Here is what I made using these colours. There is not too much that is quick or simple about this card, but I love how it looks that way.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Delightfully Detailed Laser Cut paper, Perennial Birthday, Happy Birthday Gorgeous

First up, I decided on what shaped frame to use in the centre. I went with oval and I used my favourite die set of course the Stitched Edge framelits. Next, I used some of that gorgeous Delightfully Detailed laser cut paper and trimmed out sections so that it fit between the oval frame and the edge of the card. It was a little tricky in places but I made it work as there are so many options with using this type of paper.

Next, I coloured the detail on the laser cut elements with a sponge dauber, varying the amount of ink applied allowed me to achieve different tones with using these colours. I used a blender pen for the Sahara Sand, as I found those elements to be smaller and the pen allowed for more precise application.

Once I was happy with my colour, I adhered the elements in place with some fine tip glue, making sure they didn’t poke out into the sentiment space. Then I adhered the frame over the top with some mini dimensionals.

As this card is mostly delicate and light, so I finished off with a little more strength of colour by adding a flower and some leaves stamping the ink on same colour cardstock.

Next up in the hop is Narelle Farrugia.

Fresh Fig, Sweet Sugarplum, Lemon Lime Twist and Wild Wasabi.

Here is what I made with these colours.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up! Happy Birthday Gorgeous

I’ve been playing with the Happy Birthday Gorgeous bundle still… It just keeps calling me! This challenge I started with an old favourite stamp set, but here I am right back at this one … it’s funny how that happens, isn’t it?

Here I used Fresh Fig as my cardbase and layered that with some of that amazing Fresh Floral DSP in Fresh Fig too. Next I trimmed out a Whisper White panel (10cm x 8cm) and stamped the bottom with those cute little flowers, the line detailed one in Fresh Fig ink and then coloured it with the solid coordinating stamp in Sweet Sugarplum ink. I stamped one simple small flower outline only in the top right corner, then adhered the Fresh Fig cardstock to the edge the panel.

Using some of the lovely new Ombre Ribbon in Lemon Lime Twist, I wrapped it around the panel and adhere the whole panel to my cardbase.

I used only part of the Happy Birthday thinlit die this time, as I only wanted the “Happy” this time. I wanted to coordinate the sentiment to the birthday I was making for. In this case, it was a 40th birthday, so I used the amazing Milestone Moments stamp set to express this.

I stamped the sentiment with Sweet Sugarplum ink onto Whisper White cardstock and trimmed it tight. I overlayed this onto Sweet Sugarplum cardstock and created flags to the end to create a banner feature. I adhere this right above my ribbon. I used some Fine Tip Glue pen to adhere the Happy and finished off with some the green Glitter dots for some bling.

What I used to make this:

Happy Birthday

Here I am back with another idea using one of the notecards with the red background ink slotch. You might remember a couple of posts ago, I created a handful of notecards with a splotch of red ink directly from the ink pad?  This was to help reduce the quantity of ink in my pad – read more here.

CYCI125-232x300

The red ink fits in with this weeks Colour Challenge over at Can You Case It? [#125].  Red, Grey, Black & White….. if you know me well, you’ll know this colour combination suits me down to the ground. I’m usually wearing something red and black most days! So I was really excited to play along when this challenge came up.

Here I have used a new Stamp called Stylised Birthday. It’s one of the few single stamps available in the Annual Catalogue. As you know, most Stampin’ Up! stamps come in sets.

Rose Packer CreativeRoses Stylised Happy birthday Stampin' Up!

Here I’ve made it the feature as it’s nice and big and works when used as the main feature, rather than a supporting sentiment. Using the Lots of Labels framelit dies, I punched out the Happy birthday, layered it with another frame punched out in Smokey Slate and used dimensionals to prop it up. Finishing off with some silver ribbon and Rhinestone jewels to add some bling.

Do you Like my page on Facebook? Just in case you don’t, I shared on there last night the announcement, that I will be joining the Can You Case It? Design team. I’m really excited about it and looking forward to providing inspiration around their challenges. My first post goes live on Monday, so be sure to check back then for the next challenge.

Until next time… Stamp Creatively,
Rose.
