Colour INKspiration – CI18

Another fortnight has flown past, but thankfully here in Melbourne, we are starting to see some sunshine and most importantly… there is warmth in the air! Yay!!

Welcome to you all joining me on this blog hop. If you are starting here or if you have joined me from Jackie, you are in for some awesomeness this hop. We have a great selection of colours, check them out.

Sweet Sugarplum, Powder Pink, Sahara Sand and Basic Grey. We decided to add in a green too – anyone that we liked. I went for Lemon Lime Twist.

Here is my card….

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up! Naturally Eclectic, Happy Birthday Gorgeous

Today, I decided to have a play with embossing on one of the Naturally Eclectic card overlays. Oh notice that yummy sunshine in the background there?!

I used an emboss-only die from the Eclectic Layers thinlit die set and embossed three leaf images directly onto the printed acetate overlay. The acetate overlays have protective films on both sides to protect from finger prints. I kept these on while embossing, only removing them once ready to adhere it.

What I found after embossing was that the acetate liked to curl. So I gentled curled them with my fingers back the other way to straighten them out a little. It worked well, not perfectly flat, but well enough to work on the card. I think the natural wave that is left adds movement to the finished card. It’s a soft and subtle texture.

I used a Basic Gray card base, then used strategically positioned glue dots behind the white printed leaves to adhere the overlay. Next I used a pop of colour in Lemon Lime Twist with a die cut of the Happy Birthday thinlit die. I used Multipurpose liquid glue to adhere it and only tiny little lines of it too. This is so that it didn’t leak all over my overlay leaving blotchy patches of dried glue.

To finish off, I decided on the coordinating Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set, those flowers are just so cute. Stamping the outline in Sweet Sugarplum and the solid image in Powder Pink. I used a combination of large and smaller flower stamps scattered around the embossed leaves and sentiment.
