CTC267 – Week 2 – Ornate Garden

CTC-BlogBanner

There is so much to be inspired by within the Ornate Garden Suite and this week, for me, it’s all about the abundance of Daisy’s. Welcome to week 2 inspiration of the current Caseing The Catty Challenge.

CTC267

One of the patterns in the designer series paper pack really stood out to me, I think it was the pop of white of the daisy’s in amongst the colour… it’s is this one…

RosePacker20_19d

I was also inspired by some white daisy’s in a bunch of flowers I got this week. My hubby came home with them last weekend, to help brighten up our isolation days. I know, pretty lucky, aren’t I?

RosePacker20_19c

Anyway… all week, I found myself looking at these flowers in the bunch and thinking about the white daisy’s in the patterned paper. Here is what I came up with

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Daisy Lane, Daisy Punch

I just loved the white, so I challenged myself to keep with white theme. First I embossed some Whisper White cardstock with the subtles embossing folder, then punched my flowers out, using both sizes in the Daisy punch. I went with a touch of green in the centre – the retired colour Lemon Lime Twist (I know… it’s still a favourite isn’t it?) was just the perfect colour. I daubered some on to the centres before using glue dots to adhere them together.

I stamped the stamens from the centres of the large Daisy stamp from the Daisy Lane stamp set. This gave me the little pearl looking effect of the Daisy stamen in the photo. Punched out the one for the large daisies and fussy cut ones for the smaller daisies.

I arranged them over a piece of Whisper White cardstock, until I was happy with their placement. My glue dots helped to adhere them in place. Fluffing the petals helps to give dimension to the card. Adding a simple bow in Whisper White Crinkle seam binding ribbon – I left the tails dangle long this time for some added texture.

I finished off with a simple generic sentiment and when bold in colour as the sentiment is small. It just gave the tiny pop of colour I was looking for without taking over. I decided to layer this over Whisper White thick cardstock base, using dimensionals to adhere, this gave the appearance of another added colour, a light gray shadow, without actually added one.

Next up in the hop is the very creative Tina Gillespie.

CTC267 – Ornate Garden

CTC-BlogBanner

Are you enjoying the new two week format for the Caseing The Catty challenges? Here we are on new challenge night, so this is where we kick off the next challenge and provide some inspiration. We will hop next Sunday night sharing more inspiration for this same topic, before it closes the following Sunday. That give you two weeks to play along. Plus, it give us plenty of time to love each section of Stampin’ Up! catalogues. Welcome if you are joining me here, or if you have hopped over from Monique. In this challenge we are drawing inspiration from the flowers from the new early release suite – Ornate Garden…

CTC267

There are some lovely elements that make up this suite and its main graphic element is an abundance of flowers. It gives a lovely country garden feel to the imagery. Here is my card.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Ornate Garden Suite, Ornate Style stamp set, So Sentimental, Blends, embossing
I used the large flower bouquet stamp from the Ornate Style stamp set, new in this range. It’s lovely and big and full of flowers.

Here I have heat embossed the flower stamp with Black embossing powder onto some vellum. I coloured the flowers from the back using Stampin’ Blends. Colouring this way, gives a soft colour effect to the image. I layered this over some Whisper White cardstock, so that you can see the colouring.

Using dimensionals to adhere this layer, gave it some height, over the striped DSP and Rococo Rose Cardstock base. I finished off with some Black satin ribbon and a simple sentiment, from the So Sentimental set, topped off with some Rococo Rose coloured gems. Simple but stunning.

Next up in the hop is the amazing Michelle Strazds.

CTC265 – Week 2 – 2nd Release SAB

CTC-BlogBanner

I’m back hoping along with the Caseing The Catty crew for week 2 inspiration of Sale-a-Bration’s second release. There is where we share more inspiration from the second release catalogue, with so many ideas inside it was certainly hard to choose just one.

CTC265

I settled on this layout from page 7. It’s the one at the back, using the gorgeous Mint Vellum…

2020_SAB2_P_5A-3_500px

I just love the simplicity and ease of which you can create cards for any occasions using this layout. Here is my card…

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Ornate Garden suite

If these products don’t look familiar and have you guessing where they come from, you’re not going crazy. This is the Ornate Garden Suite that is coming next month. It’s an early release from the 2020 Annual Catalogue. So today, I have a little sneak peak post for you too.

The suite features two bundles. Here I have used one from the Ornate Border Die set. These dies are shaped in strips and work well on the edge of your card stock, but can work many different ways of course. Here I thought it would work beautifully on the angled edge, just like the sample.

Starting with a card base in Whisper White thick cardstock, I layered some of the Ornate Flowers Specialty Designer Paper from this suite. I went with this one, in Mint Macaron that features some lovely gold foiling. The paper in the suite features lovely garden style flowers patterns featuring lots of colour on one side and more muted and less busy design, most a monochromatic or feature Gold foiling detail. You are just going to love it!

RosePacker20_09b

I die cut the border design from Whisper White cardstock and trimmed the Designer paper around the bottom edge of the pattern, so that they sat neatly together.

There are some layering pieces included in the die set too which I used two to add some very simple embellishment with. To finish, I have topped them the Guilded Gems that come in the suite. I love these, I love how they are a solid gold look, rather than a gold backing beneath a clear gem.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Ornate Garden suite

All the details on this gorgeous suite are coming April 1st so stay tuned.

Next up in the hop is the amazing Sandra Collett.
