CTC204 – Favourite Holiday Big Shot Project

The CASEing The Catty Crew are back hopping after an extended challenge last time, with some great ideas around Big Shot projects from the Holiday catalogue. Welcome if you have hopped over from Peta, or if you are joining me here.

CTC204

It was really hard choosing a favourite Big Shot project in the Holiday catalogue as there are just so many great ones, but I created a card based on these projects from the catalogue…

Both use the Big Shot and this is where the inspiration took me…

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Detailed Deer thinlit dies, Perennial Birthday

I used the decorative corner die from the Detailed Deer thinlit dies in reverse. I had to keep a few elements to stick back in to the design, so that the negative image would work. I backed my project on some Very Vanilla cardstock, and then echoed that on the front with the large stamped sentiment.

I used the positive die cuts to frame the top of the sentiment and tied a bow from that gorgeous Merlot/Copper two tone ribbon. I finished off with some Rhinestones that I coloured with my Dark Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blends to match.

Here is what I made using these colours. There is not too much that is quick or simple about this card, but I love how it looks that way.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Delightfully Detailed Laser Cut paper, Perennial Birthday, Happy Birthday Gorgeous

First up, I decided on what shaped frame to use in the centre. I went with oval and I used my favourite die set of course the Stitched Edge framelits. Next, I used some of that gorgeous Delightfully Detailed laser cut paper and trimmed out sections so that it fit between the oval frame and the edge of the card. It was a little tricky in places but I made it work as there are so many options with using this type of paper.

Next, I coloured the detail on the laser cut elements with a sponge dauber, varying the amount of ink applied allowed me to achieve different tones with using these colours. I used a blender pen for the Sahara Sand, as I found those elements to be smaller and the pen allowed for more precise application.

Once I was happy with my colour, I adhered the elements in place with some fine tip glue, making sure they didn’t poke out into the sentiment space. Then I adhered the frame over the top with some mini dimensionals.

As this card is mostly delicate and light, so I finished off with a little more strength of colour by adding a flower and some leaves stamping the ink on same colour cardstock.

Next up in the hop is Narelle Farrugia.

CTC176 – Favourite 2018 Occasions Catalogue project

CTC-BlogBanner

Here I am back with my regular blog spot with the Caseing The Catty crew. Welcome if you are starting here with me or if you have hopped over from the talented Peta.

Today we are featuring our favourite projects from the Occasions catalogue. Like last week, how do you choose a favourite when the Stampin’ Up! catalogues are filled to the brim with amazing projects. So I went back to the first thing that caught my eye all the way back in November when I first saw the Occasions catalogue.

This card here, featuring the Perennial birthday stamp set. I think it was the drama of the black ink against those lovely bright colours. I like a bit of drama.

Here I made my own version copying the sample closely. I always admire projects like this, where the stamps are pieced together to create a gorgeous arrangement. It wasn’t as hard as I first thought it was going to be, I just stamped around in a circle so to speak in Basic Black Archival ink. I prepped my sentiment first, and used that as a guide as I stamped my flower arrangement.

Once finished, I grabbed an aqua painted and used it like a paint brush, rather than flooding the project with water. Picking up some ink from the lid of my ink pad and painting to colour my stamps. I wasn’t too fussed if I went outside the lines here and there either.

I stamped a few extra pieces, which I fussy cut and adhered with some dimensionals.

I had a little play with these stamps to create a more simplified card, but still bright and fun.

I used several of the flower and leaf images to create a little scene like they popping out of a flower box. I love that sentiment beneath the main one too. So sweet.
