Dads day

It was Fathers Day last Sunday, here in Australia. The day comes with many emotions for many people – celebration and happiness for some and sense of sadness for others as they remember those no longer with them. For us it’s a full circle – a bit of both.

For us, the day does start off with fun… having little kids, it usually means banging and crashing as they scurry to collect hidden presents and make their way up to our room. Thankfully, our oldest is now able to tell the time and doesn’t come in at the crack of first light anymore!

So as Mr 10 and I were shopping for presents we found some wrapping paper. Check it out….

As soon as I saw it, I knew I had new stamps and accessories to match. Needless to say I was excited even if Mr 10 wasn’t! Here is the card I created.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up! Year of Cheer suite

It was really easy to match using new products from the new Year of Cheer suite in the 2017 Holiday Catalogue. They have such similar characteristics and colouring. Here I used a strip of the Designer Series Paper and framed the top and bottom with basic black cardstock. I adhered this to the base card of Whisper White thick cardstock.

Next I inked up a couple of the stamps in Basic Gray archival ink and some Smokey Slate ink. I masked off the DSP with some scrap paper and randomly stamped circles over the top half of my card, alternating colours and stamp sizes.

I punched out D A D letters from the Large Letter Aphabet die set in Basic Black cardstock and adhered them in the centre of my card. I stamped my “Happy Fathers Day” sentiment from the Thoughtful Banners stamps set and punched it out with the Classic Label punch. I adhered this to a small piece of Champagne Foil cardstock, and fussy cut it out framing it nicely. I used some mini dimensionals to adhere it on.

I finished off with some of those amazing Black Rhinestones in the top right corner.

Hope you all had a lovely Fathers Day last weekend and hope you got some crafting in too.

CTC141 – Birthday

CTC-BlogBanner

This week at Case-ing The Catty, it’s all about the Birthday section. Welcome, if you have just joined me from Julia or starting here, you are in for some great inspiration.

CTC141_130817

I have been in Male card land lately, with male themes flowing through my classes this month and it works as Fathers Day is only weeks away here in Australia.

I drew inspiration from the Birthday section of the Annual Catalogue for this weeks case but changed it up to work as a Fathers Day card or even a birthday card for Dad.

This is where my inspiration came from… I just love this colour combination! Suits the bold drama that’s followed me this year!

Here is my inspiration.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Best Badge, Badges and Banners

I have been feeling guilty lately for not showing love to some of my awesome stamp sets sitting on the back of the shelf. So I have pulled out my Best Badge punch and the coordinating Badges and Banners stamp set. I used to these to make the feature… stamping the badge in Pumpkin Pie on Whisper White cardstock and the circle detail in Night of Navy on Lemon Lime Twist cardstock.

From the Thoughtful Banners stamp set, I added “Dad” to the front beneath the circle. I punched this out using the Classic Label punch, then popped the end of my punched piece back in, lining up horizontally, so that I could punch flag ends in to the sides.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Best Badge, Badges and Banners

Beneath my badge element, I replaced the silver mini sequins with some of that cute Stitched Edge Ribbon in Pumpkin to coordinate. As I played with this ribbon, I kept thinking “if there was a red version available, I’m sure we could make Baseball cards with it”, it’s that kind of ribbon.

I kept the Lemon Lime Twist flags hanging down from the badge element. I also created the background the same too by stamping the fairy lights in Night of Navy on the Night of Navy Cardstock and layering that on the same colour cardbase.

So many great ideas await you in this blog hop, next up is Angela.

What I used to make this:

It’s Father’s Day this weekend

I love the challenge of creating for our male folk. It is a challenge isn’t it? No flowers, no ribbon (well most of the time!), no pink…. and so I love it! It makes me think about what I have in my craft stash and how can I use it differently.

Here is the card I have created for my Dad for this weekend’s Fathers day celebration.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Badges and banners, Bunch of banners, Banners for you

The colours and the style of stamps I have used all scream – MAN. I even threw in a bit of ribbon there – aaahh – but I think it works, the pin stripe is a very male pattern, thus giving the card masculine feel.

The badge stamp in the middle of the layers is heat embossed using the new copper embossing powder, it works so well with the mint. I coordinated some copper metallic thread too.

Anyway, I love this one and my girls who attended my male themed class last month did too.

Until next time… Stamp Creatively,
Rose.

What I used to make this:

Aussie, Aussie, Aussie – CYCI#133

Oi, Oi, Oi!

It’s the Australian version of a chant, mostly commonly heard at sporting event. It’s so famous, it’s become part of our culture…. our brand.

CYCI-133_0814

So when I saw this weeks colour challenge at
Can You Case It #133 I was more than a little excited!! This weeks colours are Australia’s sporting colours – Green and Gold! (Okay… well… close enough!)

I had to use this opportunity to be patriotic, especially with the Olympics currently happening in Rio. Have you been watching?

Here is my card – Oi, Congrats!

Rose Packer Creative Roses Stampin' Up! Swirly Scribbles Playful Backgrounds Thoughtful Banners

I used the largest of the swirls from the swirly scribble thinlit dies for the O and the I is from the Large Letter Framelit dies. I used these to create the Oi. [For my international friends, the word Oi is one of those multipurpose words where it can mean a few different things depending on the context. Most commonly, in Aussie slang, it is used as a way of getting someone’s attention –  a bit like calling out “hey” or “hey you”.]

So my card actually says – “Hey, Congrats” and is a salute to our athletes.

The stars are from the 2016-18 In-colour Enamel shapes. I used the Emerald Envy stars and assembled them in the formation of the Southern Cross constellation.

I can’t wait to see what you create with these colours. Looking forward to you playing along.

Until next time…. Stamp creatively,
Rose.

P.S. if anyone knows a returning athlete and would like to give them this card, message me and I’ll post it to you so you can use it to give to them.

Thoughtful (birthday) Banners – CYCI #130

The challenge over at Can You Case It? this week is a theme – Birthday card. Quite simply make a birthday card. The sky is the limit….

Can You Case It?

Easy right…. we crafters make 100s every year!

So I decided to step up the challenge by making a birthday card for male. They always seem to be that little bit harder, don’t you think?

No pink, no flowers and no glitter… hmmm… what to do?

Here is my inspiration for this week.

Rose Packer Creative Roses Thoughtful Banner Stampin' Up!

I love the Mint and Sahara Sand together and with a splash of drama from the black, makes for a striking finish. I have used a little of the metallic black thread for some masculine decoration. I love how this style can work for so many occasions depending on what you couple it with.

Rose Packer Creative Roses Thoughtful Banner Stampin' Up!

I think this is going to be a popular challenge as many of us have lots of card ideas we could enter. So how about you enter this week and show us what birthday cards you’re making right now. It’s quite easy… upload a photo of your card to any social media – Instagram, Pintrest, Facebook (but make sure your setting for the post are public right) or to your blog if you have one. Then visit the Can You Case It? website and use the linky button thingy to connect your card to the challenge – super easy.

Until next time… Stamp Creatively,
Rose.

Birthday Banners

I’m not a pink girl – red is me. Buuuuut I have to say, I don’t mind Flirty Flamingo at all! (It’s one of Stampin’ Up!’s new 2016-18 In Colours.) Maybe it’s because I have a little girl now and it’s pretty darn hard to escape pink, can I say!

I just love the coordination of products from a colour point of view too – the cardstock, ink and ribbon all match, which helps make cards and projects look really professional.

Rose Packer CreativeRoses Thoughtful Banners

Here I have used Flirty Flamingo in the base cardstock, the ribbon and the banner feature is stamped with the ink.

I’ve also used a couple of other new releases – the Duet Banner punch, which coordinates beautifully with the banner stamps in the Thoughtful Banners stamp set. I love how the Photopolymer stamps are flexible, allowing you to stamp along a curve. The other is that lovely embossing just peaking out in the background there.

I used the centre to stamp the word “Happy” in an Ombre style pattern – it will have to do until I my new Ombre Ink Pads arrive (Yippee!). I used Pool Party and Bermuda Bay ink and using the stamping off technique to get the right shades to create the effect.

I hope you enjoyed this cute little card.

Until next time… Stamp Creatively,
Rose

New Catalogue Inspiration

If you can imagine a happy excited little puppy dog scratching at the door as you arrive… you know the ones, they are so happy to see you they run around in circles not knowing what to do with themselves?

Well… that was me with my new stamps and accessories from Stampin’ Up! new 2016 Annual Catalogue. What do I create first?!! I was so excited and had so many ideas, I didn’t know where to start first! I now have an even bigger mess in my craft space and I really didn’t think that was possible!

So today’s blog post is a little different…. I have lots to share with you, in a “snip-it” kind of way. Then, over the coming weeks, I will revisit them in more detail for you. How does that sound?

1 – Happy Birthday Banners card. I just love that embossing folder, it comes in a set of two and both a gorgeous. I’ve used one of the new In Colours, Flirty Flamingo. The new Banner Duet punch is equally as awesome too.

Rose Packer CreativeRoses Thoughtful Banners

2 – Thinking of You card. Mixing in new toys is always a good challenge. Here I have used the Thinking of You stamp from the Time of Year stamp set – it’s a host exclusive set and right now we have additional host $$ to earn – Check out the details here. The stamp is featured in the very yummy Copper Embossing powder.

Rose Packer CreativeRoses Stampin' Up! Time of Year

3 – Best Friend Badge card. This was my first play with the new In Colours. I water coloured some colours, stamped some and used cardstock for others. The stamp set is Badges and Banners and there is a coordinating punch, Best Badge to go with it. They are available in a bundle, saving you 10%.

Rose Packer CreativeRoses Stampin' Up! Badges and Banners

4 – Park time scrap page. I just love these photos of kids at the park taken earlier in the year and wanted to display them. Here I’ve used the Pop of Pink Specialty Designer Series Paper (as it went with Little Miss’ leggings!) and the Swirly Scribbles thinlit dies. The scribbly lines reminded me of the swoosh sound that swinging makes.

5 – Hello tags. I made this little display for my catalogue launch party recently. I made it to showcase the new In Colour collection.

6 – Popstick Frame. We had one of our Parish Sisters retire after 60 years of service, just recently. I made this in her honour.

I hope you have enjoyed this little snap shot of Inspiration. I hope look forward to sharing more details about some of these projects in coming weeks. Stay tuned…

Until next time… Stamp Creatively,
Rose.
