What a week, I’ve been busy creating with lots of new toys this week in prep for upcoming events. Including this one, our second blog hop for Caseing the Catty.
Welcome if you are starting here with me or if you have joined me from the lovely Angela. This week, we are celebrating Sale-a-bration time. Which is my favourite promotion on the Stampin’ Up! calendar. There are freebie products for those who shop, host or join during these few months. More info on this is here.
This week, I started playing with Epic Celebrations. (I must take a minute to thank to my Facebook voters – Epic Celebrations was the initial front runner in my vote request, so I created with that one. But Lots of Lavender did come out in front in the end. Never fear, I will use that one next!)
As I was creating this first card, I had an idea for a second one, so today I have two card to share with you.
First up, this one… a quirky little spin on these cute converse style runners.
I had the idea to make one pair stand out of a pile. So using the trusty masking technique, I created this pile of runners. I use my Stampin’ Write markers to colour the Real Red pair and Stampin’ Blends in Light Smokey Slate to colour the rest.
What I discovered, was the different looks you can achieve when colouring with the two different types of markers. Blends gives you a much smoother look as the alcohol allows the colour to spread evenly. Whereas, using markers the ink only goes where you apply it, allowing you to get achieve a rougher much more inconsistent look. Which is not a bad thing when you want that grungy appearance. The Epic Celebration stamps has a style of artwork that lends itself to that colouring style.
For the sentiment – here I used the ever amazing Stamparatus to create a custom sentiment. The gray words are from one sentiment in the Mixed Drinks stamp set, but I only used parts of it. And the Party is from Tabs for Everything stamp set.
I was able to place the stamps in position, use my leaf on the Stamparatus to pick up the stamp. Ink up and stamp in place. Awesome!
I finished off the sentiment with some Foil printed Acetate, mini sequin trim and some gorgeous Shimmer ribbon in Basic Gray – another Sale-a-bration exclusive item and a gorgeous little Tutti Fruity sequin.
While making the first card, I had an idea for this second card.
This sentiment is from the new In The Trees stamp set and I thought it would make a fun and quirky Valentines day card. Particularly if you are like me and my DH – not huge on Valentines Day. A less lovey dovey feel to a card is more our style.
Next up in the hop is Peta Stephen, hop on over to see her Sale-a-bration inspiration.
After you’ve enjoyed the awesome hop with the team, I’m looking forward to seeing your CASE over in our challenge group. Be sure to load up your creation by 6pm next Sunday night, Jan 21st.
Until next time… Stamp Creatively,
