CTC178 – Favourite Annual Catalogue Project

This week at Caseing The Catty, we are looking at our favourite Big Shot projects from the Annual Catalogue. Welcome if you have just joined me from Angela or starting here with me.

CTC178

It’s always hard to pick a favourite, with sooo many great ideas at hand, so I just focussed on one that I’ve always loved and wanted to try. It’s this one on page 88….

I really like how they used the die to create a window into the cardbase. So I took that idea and create this card….

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Five for all, Watercolouring, Eclectic Layers thinlits

I used watercolour over some Shimmery White cardstock and laid it over the Dapper Denim cardbase. I die cut both pieces at once – which I don’t usually do, but this time I needed too. I passed it back and forth several times to ensure it cut well.

When I adhered it, I offset it slightly so that it acted like a shadow. Next I stamped the spray paint stamp, from Touches of Texture, over the watercolour base.

Then I added my embellishments over the top, the sentiment is from Five for All. I added some stamped texture behind it and punched using a circle framelit. I added some Black metallic thread behind it and adhered it with some dimentionals. I hightlighted the word Greatest Kid in a different colour and added some mini dimensionals to make that stand out and finished off the front with a Star at the top from the Better Together stamp set.

Because this design creates a window effect, I decorated the front where you could see through. A little washi tape and a party hat finished it off. It also mean I needed to neaten up the inside left where the sentiment on the front was visible. I stamped the coordinating sentiment and over adhered it, so it covered and neaten everything up the finish.

Next up in the hop is the ever amazing Kelly Kent.

  1. So much fun and attention to detail!! I never noticed this card in the catalogue but WOW, you’ve really taken it up a level. I bet the receiver LOVES this card. Love the splatter ink on the front too.
