Sale-a-bration this year is awesome and with so many great items to choose from, it does makes choosing what to create with a little harder! But I couldn’t go past the Lots of Lavender stamp set this week. (After all, I did promise this one next!)

I took my inspiration from page 4 of the Sale-a-bration catalogue, with these great ideas.

Here is what I created.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up! Lots of Lavender

I started with the box. It’s been a while since making a gift box and the idea of changing it up a little popped into my head. Here I have teamed up Painted With Love Specialty designer series paper with Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate. I made the box myself… I’m sure there is a template out there somewhere, but this is why I love papercrafting, it ties in beautifully with my graphic design skills. I just make these things myself – sketch it out first, work out my measurements and cut my own template. The design industry is very digital orientated now, which is great, it just means I very rarely get to make mock-ups anymore, hence this… papercrafting, my other love.

So I started by creating a basic oblong tube shape with the printed acetate. Then made a top and bottom from the DSP, kind of like making a box and cutting it in half and sticking it to the ends of the acetate to tube.

I made the bottom shorter than the top as I knew I wanted to add decorative elements to the bottom. I didn’t want them to start to high. I stamped the Lavender in Fresh Fig ink and coloured it using markers in Wisteria Wonder and Perfect Plum plus a little Pear Pizzazz for the leaves. I coloured the ribbon in Calypso Coral to contrast with the purple tones which coordinates with the DSP.

I wrapped some Whisper White Organza ribbon around the bottom edge and topped that with some Sweet Sugarplum tinsel twine. Tucking in the lavender behind the organza bow. I filled the box (for now) with that fabulous Ready Shreddie. OMG… you get sooooo much in one pack, it goes such a long way!

As I sat back and admired my handy work, I decided it really needed a matching card. So I went with the card design featured below the box that initially sparked my interest.

I started with some Shimmery White cardstock and water coloured a background with some Sweet Sugarplum ink and aqua painters. Once dry, I adhered this to a panel of more of that lovely Painted With Love specialty DSP. Then adhere this onto a cardbase in Fresh Fig.

I stamped another bunch of lavender and coloured this similarly to the box so that they match. I adhered this over the top of some of that lovely White Organza ribbon from the Petal Passion suite. Adding a gold tassle, from the Eastern Palace suite, tied with a little more of the Sweet Sugarplum tinsel. The sentiment is from the Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set, stamped in Fresh Fig and punched with the Classic label punch.

These were really fun to make and I was pretty happy with how they turned out. Next up in the hop is Peta Stephen.
