The Number of Years is 20

I can’t believe I have friends celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary. Am I really that old? Even though they did get married young, I’m still finding it hard to convince myself we are entering that age bracket. I’m proud though, we’ve been friends for longer and shared so many special times together, so this is just another special moment together.

It’s also a great reason to make a card and for this special occasion. I have used the Sketch Challenge over at Can You Case it? [CYCI#108] as my design base.

I have been waiting patiently to use the rest of the stamps and framelits in the Number of Years bundle. (You know I’ve used that frame to death already!). I like how it’s not just numbers that come in that stamp set. There are a whole series of floral stamps which you can create gorgeous scenes with.

The numbers themselves don’t stamp solid. They have a watercolour look giving your project a lovely textured appearance, which is great for when you want more than just the solid look the punched numbers framelits will provide you.

I really love how the background scene turned out and didn’t want to cover it up. Vellum really helps with show-through. So it was perfect to keep the look of my background just visable, without taking over.

Here, I punched out a circle from vellum and inked it directly with my ink pad, then I used a sponge to smooth out the bubbly ink. I also used vellum for my numbers. When stamping/ inking vellum, you need to allow extra time for them to dry completely. Being a plastic material, they do take a little longer to dry.

The word “years” comes from one of the longer sentiment stamps within that set also. I simply inked up that word only, using my Watermelon Wonder Stampin’ Write marker.

I love how it turned out and hope my friends enjoy their card too. I have another 20 Year anniversary coming up in a few months, so look out for that creation!

Until next time… Stamp Creatively,
Rose.

Update – 29 February: I’m excited that my card was a top pick again over at Can You Case it? Challenge #108. Here is what Chloe has to say “It’s so bright and colourful and I love the idea of colouring the vellum.”

Thanks heaps CYCI team.
