CTC136 – Thanks

I’m so excited!! This is my first blog hop as part of the Case-ing The Catty Design Team Crew! Welcome if you are joining me from talented Julia. If you are a regular follower of mine and are starting here, you are in for a treat.

But for now, let’s get things rolling by introducing this week’s section. It’s the Thanks section featured on pages 126 to 131.

I drew inspiration from this same image from the catalogue, which is featured on page 131. Here I have focused on the card on the left of this main image. It features the stamp set One Big Meaning which provides you many different stamp designs to help you create that perfect card or gift to convey your sentiment.

I specifically chose this card as I knew I didn’t have those gorgeous Hearts & Stars Embellishments yet – sadly they are still on my wishlist. So, I wanted to show how I thought about a substitute for them.

First, I looked at what elements I had available to use and decided on the Copper trim in place of the Linen Thread, as this was more substantial and the darker colour commanded more attention. Next, I looked at paper. Whilst I had the Naturally Eclectic pack that is used in the catalogue sample, I opted for one that suited the Copper trim a little more. I went for the Coffee Break Designer Series Paper, as it featured Soft Sky which is the colour used in the original card, but it also had the neutral tones I was looking. I wrapped a piece of the trim around the overlapped papers, then I created a separate bow to adhere over the top of the sentiment to help the create impact of the embellishments.

While making this card, this sparked another idea for another card. Here is what I created.

I used the same Pinewood Planks embossing folder for the background. I started with some Washi tape at the very back, then layered Burlap Trim and some Designer Series Paper from the Coffee Break pack in a similar way to the original card. I love how the busyness of this design with the vertical and horizontal lines and the circles all work together.

This design used another stamp in that same stamp set. With the design of this stamp being a stacked layout, it allowed me to make it a feature in a medallion style setting. I finished off the card with a heart shape from the Corrugated Elements embellishment pack – those I do have! LOL.
