CTC202 – Favourite Holiday Tags

CTC-BlogBanner

Tags!!! Yay…. I love them. These useful functional little stationery items can be the cutest little works of art. Or they can be a simple little creation, the possibilities are endless. Welcome to another week of Caseing The Catty, where we are drawing inspiration from tags in Holiday catalogue. Welcome if you are joining me here or if you have hopped over from Rebecca.

CTC202

My inspiration came a little differently for this challenge. Instead of using a tag design for inspiration, I used a card and created a tag from that…. this is where my inspiration came from…

I love the elements and I thought this would look great on a tag. So I recreated the elements to work on a tag layout. This is how it turned out….

Creating tags are a great way to use up scrap pieces of cardstock and designer paper left over in weird shapes from other projects. Here I had this piece of DSP from the All is Bright designer paper pack and I just loved how the bauble was still in tacked. So I created a longer tag to suit this element too. Then created the feature element to sit beneath it.

First I used the Tailored Tag punch and a thin piece of scrap in another designer from All is Bright pack, but just punched out the top half, then a bottom half. They are not really halves though, it just looks that way, but I used up a strip of DSP, that was just waiting for it’s turn to shine.

I stamped my sentiments and fussy cut them to fit they way I wanted them too and adhered them on, with dimensionals, over the punched shape pieces. I adhere a star paper clip from the All is Bright Paper Clip pack at the top and adhere the “wishes” sentiment on an angle to match.

Finishing off the tag with a red circle punched shape and some Call Me Clover ribbon, brought it all together.

Today, I have a quick little share with you and a great little tip. But first up my inspiration came from this project in the Sale-a-bration catalogue.

Those panda’s a really cute but I went for a different set today. It’s one of my new favourites… Birthday Wit!

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Birthday Witt

Here I have teamed it up with Bubble and Fizz DSP pack, which is a Sale-a-bration exclusive. Love the colours in this pack of paper. I used two different patterns to create the flag ends. I didn’t want to cover up the pattens to much, so I left off the backing circle, which appears behind the panda. Instead I used the bubble speech stamp in the set which gives that same effect. I felt it needed a little more Calypso Coral to match in with the Sentiment, so I added another thinner flag across the top.

When deciding on the widths of my flags, one needed to be wider than the Triple Banner Punch’s widest one at 50mm. Normally I just reach for my paper snips and do these manually. However, I had this idea the minute I saw the Tailored Tag punch in the Occasions catalogue. I knew I would be using this punch for creating flag ends too.

Sliding in my paper, cut to a width of 60mm, I aligned the sides to the width of the punch and pushed my paper in about half way through the face and punched. Wa-la… it worked, flag end to a wider size strip! I was pretty pleased.

Next up in the hop is the clever Peta Stephen.
