Colour INKspiration – CI165

colink-blogbanner-v3

Welcome to the next Colour INKspiration challenge – #CI165. We are celebrating some of Stampin’ Up! new In-Colour this challenge, let’s take a look….

Peach Pie, Petal Pink and Shy Shamrock.

Along with new colours, this month in Stampin’ Up! land we have a range of new toys to play with too – having released a new Annual Catalogue. Today, I’m playing with a new bundle called Flowers of Beauty.

This set features stamps and dies and here, I have used a combination of both to create a featured arrangement. One thing I have noticed while using these new colours is, they are bright and strong colours. These types of colour really lend themselves to Generational Stamping techniques, which really allow you to extend the shades of the ink colour.

On my card, here, I have used the Shy Shamrock in full strength – leaves at the back, and the sentiment. However the leaves are lighter – here I stamped off on some scratch paper, removing some of the ink from my stamp, before stamping again on Basic White cardstock to use.

Petal Pink and Peach Pie are what we call “colour buddies”. These are two shades of a similar colour that work together to provide light and shade. Here I stamped the outline stamp in Peach and coloured the flowers with Petal.

I added a die cut leaf layer from Shy Shamrock and finish the card with some new In Colour glimmer gems. I layered some Petal Pink cardstock to a Basic White thick cardbase to make the card.

Colour INKspiration – CI161

colink-blogbanner-v3

For this latest colour palette for the Colour INKspiriation challenges, I wanted to try something different. The intensity in the colour palette for this challenge suited what I had in mind. So let’s take a look at the colours: Moody Mauve, Melon Mambo and Garden Green.

Rich intense hues allow for gradation of colour to be extracted. So for this card I did some watercolouring.

Fun Fact: Although I am a Graphic Designer, my drawing skills are not great – so much so, I didn’t score well in my Life Drawing classes back in my Uni days! Graphics and Illustrations are two different disciplines!

Rather than stamping, I created a base design to watercolour by using the Layered Florals embossing folder and some Fluid 100 paper. The 3D style of this embossing folder really lends itself to this technique as it is so deeply etched.

Dotting some ink from my reinker and mixing a little water to dilute it, I used water painters and spritzers to add my colour. The richness of these colours means you can extend the colours to create light and shade.

I purposefully embossing a section of the folder, so that there was a centre flower, to help create my little piece of Monet.

I will continue to practise my blending skills, but it was fun to colour in a different way and produce a little piece of art in a different style to my norm.

Colour INKspiration – CI160

colink-blogbanner-v3

Another year of creative colour challenges are upon us as I begin on the crew with Colour INKspiration again. So let’s take a look at the colour challenge for this next one – our 160th challenge (#CI160)…

Bubble Bath, Lemon Lolly, Soft Seafoam, Balmy Blue and Highland Heather.

These colours are all from Stampin’ Up!’s Subtle colour palette. I just love these colours… it’s funny right, when I first join Stampin’ Up! I was a Brights girl through and through… these days, I’m leaning toward subtles more and more! I think I’m getting old – LOL!

Anyway, here is the card I made using all these colours.

This time, I reached for a new bundle coming next month in the Online Exclusives additions. It’s called Happy Little Things which is a cute and fun bundle of words, you can adapt to many occasions… and you can use them to compliment a graphic stamp or die cut image or you can do what I did here and make them the feature.

This stamp set features several large words – one as an outline and one solid to colour with. There are also several smaller supporting phrases too – and the banner die set fits these. Here I used the “celebrate” outline stamp and stamped it once in each of the challenge colours.

Next, I used the solid colouring stamp to fill in the word – but instead of just stamping it in one colour over the matching outline… I decided to break up the word into syllables and stamp it out in several colours. Something a little fun to create. I finished off the top with one of the supporting sentiments and one of the banner dies. I tucked a couple of leafy elements under the banner, which were die cut from Soft Seafoam cardstock.

Rose Packer, Stampin' Up!, C

The rest of the card is quite simple, some scrap DSP strips to the sides, all adhered to a Basic White card base.

Colour INKspiration – CI158

colink-blogbanner-v3

Can you believe we are mid summer already…. It feels like it hasn’t even started here in Melbourne yet. Maybe one or two days just over 30 degrees, but that’s it. Really looking forward to some warmer days so we can plan a trip to the beach… one just like this one that forms our inspo for Colour INKspiration’s mid holiday challenge…

Our challenge colours are Petal Pink, Fresh Freesia, Pool Party and Blueberry Bushel.

With a Mini Catalogue full of amazing new toys just launching this month, it sure was hard to pick which set to play with first. I went with Filled with Happiness. It’s a stand alone stamp set on page 35 of the January mini, however it coordinate with the carryover Modern Oval punch from the September 2023 mini.

I’m still in holiday mode, even though I started back at work this week, so my crafting is simple for fun.

First up, I created a cardbase in Petal Pink cardstock. I found some Designer Paper in the same colour from the Light it up designer paper pack. So I trimmed down a panel, framed it with a thin strip of Fresh Freesia cardstock and adhere to the cardbase.

Next, I stamped the main image in Blueberry Bushel ink on some Basic White cardstock. Colouring was always fun for me as a kid – then with lead pencils, now with Blends (alcohol markers). I coloured the central image in with Pool Party, Petal Pink and Fresh Freesia blends. Using the Modern Oval punch, I punched out the centre image, leaving behind the sentiment in a larger oval shape on my white cardstock.

I trimmed down a piece of Pool Party cardstock and adhered the sentiment layer, creating a nice frame. This then went onto my cardbase.

I wanted a little more Fresh freesia colour, so I coloured some Black & White gingham ribbon with my Blend. I layered this over the sentiment and fixed the coloured punch element over the top with dimensionals.

Finishing my card with a few of the Rainbow Adhesive gems, again in Freesia.

Colour INKspiration – CI156

colink-blogbanner-v3

I’m a traditional girl at heart when it comes to Christmas and this next colour palette for Colour INKspiration is just that. It’s so my cup of coffee!

Here we are playing with Black and White along with Real Red and Shaded Spruce.

I went back to my comfort zone with a traditional Christmas card.

Layering black cardstock onto a white card base created the start for the decorative layers. I stamped fir leaves in Shaded Spruce ink onto a layer of White cardstock. Whilst this colour green ink is not my go to, what I do like about it is… it’s such a rich colour it’s perfect for generational stamping technique. This is what I did here in the background, stamping off first and creating light and dark leaves, thus stitching the shades of colour within the one ink pad. I added two die cut fir leaves. The fir stamp is from the Christmas classics bundle and the die is from the Joy of Noel bundle.

Next I layered some Black and White gingham ribbon and a strand of silver trim. Over the top is the main feature – the sentiment. Here I white heat embossed the letters from the Alphabest stamp set and punched them out with the coordinating punch to create the Merry. I stamped the Christmas for the Joy of Noel stamp set in Black ink and fussy cut.

To finish I scattered some silver pearls from the Festive Pearl pack. I hope this has inspired your creativity to create your version of these.

Colour INKspiration – 155

colink-blogbanner-v3

Up next for Colour INKspiration, #CI155, is almost a monotone colour palette, featuring three purple shades. I loved it as soon as I saw and this idea for my card sprung to mind straight away.

Here is our palette and inspo pic…

Fresh Freesia, Highland Heather, Gorgeous Grape and Cherry Cobbler. Plus of course we can add Basic White, Black, Crumb cake and metallics as well.

Here is the card I created….

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Joyous Noel, Colour Inkspiration

Starting with a card base of Fresh Freesia cardstock, I use Highland Heather and Gorgeous Grape ink and applied them with a blending brush to create an ombre effect from the outside to the centre.

The main image is stamped from the Joyous Noel stamp set and die cut with the coordinating die set. Here I have embossed it with silver embossing powder. I then die cut fir leaves in Highland Heather and Gorgeous Grape cardstock to fan around the embossed die cut. Looping some silver thread beneath before adhering with dimensionals to the card base.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Joyous Noel, Colour Inkspiration

I heat embossed the same of the holly and berries onto Cherry Cobbler cardstock, again with sliver embossing powder. I fussy cut the berries and added them to my Freesia card. I also embossed a small sentiment while I had the Cherry cardstock out.

I finished off the card with a simple bow in more of the Silver thread. I hope this inspires some ideas for you.

Colour INKspiration – CI153

colink-blogbanner-v3

I did it!! I’m so excited!! I used Colour INKspiration’s #CI153 next colour challenge and created a Non-Traditional coloured Christmas card! This is huge for me as I am so very traditional when it comes to Christmas…

The colour palette for this challenge is just gorgeous, let’s take a look…

Colour Inkspiration challenge

Lemon Lolly, Petal Pink, Moody Mauve, Coastal Cabana and Lost Lagoon. Lots of colours in this challenge and they are so beautiful together.

Here is my Christmas card…

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Merriest Trees

Using the Merriest Trees, I started by creating a tree with Coastal Cabana and Lost Lagoon cardstock. I love the way the dies work in this bundle… there are several to choose from and you can either layer them to create a multi-tone tree like I have here or you can make different sized ones.

Next, I set about using the remaining colours in the palette – Base at the bottom and Star at the stop are in Lemon Lolly, baubles are in Petal Pink and presents are in Mauve and Pink.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Merriest Trees

Aaannnd because it’s October, my birthday month, I’m blinging up my projects. So here I have added extra Iridescent rhinestones. I may make another one and use some gold glimmer paper for the base and star… now that would be lots of bling!

I’m really please at how this turned about and I know exactly who I will send this too as well!

Colour INKspiration – CI151

colink-blogbanner-v3

I’m back creating for the Colour INKspiration crew with their next colour challenge for #CI151. A wonderful inspirational image inspired this palette and I decided today was the day to crack open my Darling Details bundle. But first let’s take a look at the challenge colours…

Petal Pink, Balmy Blue, Boho Blue and Pecan Pie. We can of course, add Basic White, Vanilla and Black as well as Metallics to round out the colours to create with.

As mentioned earlier, I opened my Darling Details bundles for this creation and can I say… I don’t know why I waited so long to purchase this bundle!

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Darling Details

As I was creating this card, I found myself wondering which colour, I was going to use for what elements. Which then made me wonder, if our challenge creators had a similar thought. So today, I wanted to share how I approach my colour to element choices.

First, I pull out pieces cardstock in each of the challenge colours. Holding up the pieces of cardstock, I look at my stamp set and slowly read through their names until one speaks to the colours I’m holding. In this case, it was the Darling Details bundle, but it’s funny, as I felt like a beachy-seaside creation would suit this palette. But flowers it was. I also grab out any matching dies/punches the stamps may have.

Next, looking through each of the stamps, I allocate stamps/dies to colours – flowers to Petal Pink, dies to Balmy Blue cardstock, sentiment stamp to Boho Blue ink. So that left me with how to fit in Pecan Pie – when the light bulb went off – Designer Paper and I just knew the Gingham pack would match nicely.

Now it’s all about creating…. I created a cardbase from Basic White thick cardstock. I stamped the outline of the flower in full strength Petal Pink ink and the colouring stamp, I used the generational stamping technique. I die cut those out. I also die cut the Balmy Blue flowery-leafy stems, I went with two to begin with. I die cut my frame from Basic white cardstock. Then I started to play around with laying out the elements.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Darling Details

Cutting down the Designer Paper to fit the card front helped with deciding there was waaay to much Pecan Pie gingham and I needed to reduce that. So instead of die cutting a shape to sit over the top, I decided to die cut the Designer paper to create a second frame. To make sure these two frames were going to match, I adhere the white frame to the designer paper and then used the Deckled Rectangle die to cut out the middle – now I can use this for another project.

I adhered the frames to the card base and began layering my flower elements until I was happy with the arrangement. But…. before I adhering all the elements as final…. I always ask myself “is there anything else I can add?” I decided a couple of tiny flowers in Boho blue ink might be just enough. I  wanted to tuck them under my petal pink flowers though, so they weren’t fully visible. I stamped these directly onto the cardbase along with the sentiment. Then adhere two flowers to the base. Using glue dots, I adhered the two die cut flowery-leafy elements together and then onto my card and used dimensionals for the last flower for the top.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Darling Details

As I was proudly holding us my creation for inspection…. I thought a few gems in Boho Blue would just work nicely.

Colour INKspiration – CI146

colink-blogbanner-v3

What an amazing colour combination we have this challenge for Colour INKspiration challenges #ci146. The inspirational image is equally amazing. I just want to jump in that cozy bed and snuggle up with a good book and all that colour. Let’s take a look shall we…

Along with the challenge colours, we can also use Basic White and Black, Crumb Cake and metallics.

I’m not normally one to jump on a bandwagon of showing off new products too early…. But this time I couldn’t help it. The Translucent Florals bundle come later this year is just amazing and worked perfectly for this colour combination. Here is what I created.

The set itself is distinctive in style – meaning it picks and puts down ink at different levels so you get this wonderful layering of colour. Being such a fine layer of colour, allows for overlapping of images and really leans into the name of being Translucent.

To make this card, I created a card base in Basic White Thick cardstock and layered some Glorious Gingham designer paper over the top. I die cut a shape using the Deckled rectangle dies, from Basic White cardstock.

Next came the stamping, first the leaves directly onto my die cut rectangle in Pretty Peacock ink. After cleaning off my stamp, I stamped the same leaves in Granny Apple Green ink just off to the left to create a bunch of leaves in differing colours. I also stamped a few extra single leaves, a couple in each colour and die cut those.

Next came my flowers, the larger one I stamped in Berry Burst ink and the smaller one in Blackberry Bliss ink. It was right about now, I was really thankful this stamp set comes in red rubber!

I die cut those out with the coordinating dies and set about creating my masterpiece, layering leaves and flowers until I was happy with the combination, and using Dimensionals to adhere them.

I finished off the card with a sentiment stamped directly onto the card in Pretty Peacock ink and a few tinsel gems for some extra bling!

Colour INKspiration

colink-blogbanner-v3

I’m back with some inspiration for the latest Colour INKspiration colour challenge – #ci145. It’s a beauty too. To be honest… we’ve had some pretty awesome ones this year already, the crew have worked hard to find images to inspire our crafting. This one is just as good!

So the colour combination we are working with for this challenge includes Blueberry Bushell, Tahitian Tide and Lemon Lime Twist. Plus of course, we can add the usual neutrals – Basic White, Basic Black, Crumb Cake and metallics.

I went simple and opted to use the Earthen Textures bundle. This suite in the Annual Catalogue is featured using lovely warm earthy neutral tones that look like they have just bounced out of a Decorator Magazine. You know I’m always up for a challenge. So here they are in blues….

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Earthen Textures, CI145

Layering the blue pots against the white cardstock was a huge contrast with splashes of the Lemon Lime Twist colour for leaves and a thin frame.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Earthen Textures, CI145

I also had a small scrap of Basic White cardstock floating around my craft table, so I embossed it with the Cane Weave folder and layered it as a base for the pots to sit on. Finishing off with a couple of Iridescent Pearls as decorations on a pot.
