Colour INKspiration – CI165

colink-blogbanner-v3

Welcome to the next Colour INKspiration challenge – #CI165. We are celebrating some of Stampin’ Up! new In-Colour this challenge, let’s take a look….

Peach Pie, Petal Pink and Shy Shamrock.

Along with new colours, this month in Stampin’ Up! land we have a range of new toys to play with too – having released a new Annual Catalogue. Today, I’m playing with a new bundle called Flowers of Beauty.

This set features stamps and dies and here, I have used a combination of both to create a featured arrangement. One thing I have noticed while using these new colours is, they are bright and strong colours. These types of colour really lend themselves to Generational Stamping techniques, which really allow you to extend the shades of the ink colour.

On my card, here, I have used the Shy Shamrock in full strength – leaves at the back, and the sentiment. However the leaves are lighter – here I stamped off on some scratch paper, removing some of the ink from my stamp, before stamping again on Basic White cardstock to use.

Petal Pink and Peach Pie are what we call “colour buddies”. These are two shades of a similar colour that work together to provide light and shade. Here I stamped the outline stamp in Peach and coloured the flowers with Petal.

I added a die cut leaf layer from Shy Shamrock and finish the card with some new In Colour glimmer gems. I layered some Petal Pink cardstock to a Basic White thick cardbase to make the card.

Little Latte inside window

Today, I want to share with you a video tutorial for a card I created that has an inside window. I had this idea as there are so many sheets of designer paper where I totally love both sides of the design. I found that because I couldn’t decide which one to use, I didn’t use them at all. Are you like this too?

So I had an idea for a card design that showcases both sides. What I like about this card design, is that you don’t have to cut and flip the piece. Just cut the designer paper into a layer like you would normally and let the card base do all the work for you.

To learn how to make a card like this, watch my latest YouTube video here:

I hope you enjoy the creativity shared here and it inspires you to give it a try.

You Can Create It – January Ideas

I am back creating with, and offering, the You Can Create It kits for 2024. We have a few new Global Team members this year, so look out for their projects to help inspire your crafting with these kits too. If you live in Australia, you’ll want to know more about this wonderful little challenge pack – so keep reading on.

These kits contain consumable products packed into monthly challenges. The challenge is to use some of all products contained in the monthly pack. The kit also contains extra materials which can be share across all the monthly packs. There are three kits a year, containing 4 monthly packs – these coincide with the Stampin’ Up! catalogue release to feature the latest products. For more information and how you can subscribe, visit the Online kits page.

But now…. Let’s get onto my idea using the January pack. This pack featured the new Lighter than Air suite of product. This suite is themed with Hot Air Balloons, it features Stamp and Die bundle, as well as Designer Paper and gems to coordinate. Here is what the January packs looked like:

Here is one of the cards I made…

It’s a simple fold… just slicing 20mm off the card front to create some interest. I love how this simple detail create a little wow factor to the card design. Using one of the DSP patterns in the pack, I layered with Fresh Freesia cardstock and adhere to the shortened card front.

I kept my scrap strips from trimming the card front down and the Freesia cardstock and used them to add details to the card. I adhered the Freesia strip to the inside of my card, so it peeks out and add interest to the front when looking at it closed. The white strip, I layered across my card – this served two purposes; providing a place to stamp my sentiment; and also holding the extra elements.

One of the dies coordinate with the printed balloons in the Designer Paper pack. So I used these for decorative elements on the front.

I did make a second card, using the remaining supplies in the pack. I will be sharing this with my subscribers in my ViP group.

Here are the ideas from our Global Demonstrators for this months kit:

Colour INKspiration – CI158

colink-blogbanner-v3

Can you believe we are mid summer already…. It feels like it hasn’t even started here in Melbourne yet. Maybe one or two days just over 30 degrees, but that’s it. Really looking forward to some warmer days so we can plan a trip to the beach… one just like this one that forms our inspo for Colour INKspiration’s mid holiday challenge…

Our challenge colours are Petal Pink, Fresh Freesia, Pool Party and Blueberry Bushel.

With a Mini Catalogue full of amazing new toys just launching this month, it sure was hard to pick which set to play with first. I went with Filled with Happiness. It’s a stand alone stamp set on page 35 of the January mini, however it coordinate with the carryover Modern Oval punch from the September 2023 mini.

I’m still in holiday mode, even though I started back at work this week, so my crafting is simple for fun.

First up, I created a cardbase in Petal Pink cardstock. I found some Designer Paper in the same colour from the Light it up designer paper pack. So I trimmed down a panel, framed it with a thin strip of Fresh Freesia cardstock and adhere to the cardbase.

Next, I stamped the main image in Blueberry Bushel ink on some Basic White cardstock. Colouring was always fun for me as a kid – then with lead pencils, now with Blends (alcohol markers). I coloured the central image in with Pool Party, Petal Pink and Fresh Freesia blends. Using the Modern Oval punch, I punched out the centre image, leaving behind the sentiment in a larger oval shape on my white cardstock.

I trimmed down a piece of Pool Party cardstock and adhered the sentiment layer, creating a nice frame. This then went onto my cardbase.

I wanted a little more Fresh freesia colour, so I coloured some Black & White gingham ribbon with my Blend. I layered this over the sentiment and fixed the coloured punch element over the top with dimensionals.

Finishing my card with a few of the Rainbow Adhesive gems, again in Freesia.

Colour INKspiration – CI111

colink-blogbanner-v3

I feel like Colour INKspiration may have had some ESP happening with this colour challenge. You see, our colour palettes are set well in advance. So our colours for this challenge we chosen some time ago, but they fit perfectly with colours used in the special release of the Eden’s Garden suite this month.

The challenge colour are… Soft Succulent, Evening Evergreen, Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla. Along with the main colours, we can also use basics – White and Black, and metallics.

Here is the card I made…

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Eden's Garden

I used many products from the newly release Eden’s Garden suite including the bundle, featuring the Eden’s Garden stamp set and Eden dies.

I also pulled out one of my favourite fancy folds for this card – it’s when you slice off 2cm from each side of the card front, leaving a smaller front in the centre for decorating. This allows the inside of the card to come to the front. The die set featured an edgelit die, which was perfect for this fold, as it framed each side of the smaller front.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Eden's Garden

I think the star of the show in this suite really is the Designer Paper pack and here I have used some on both sides of the card front. One side of the paper, features lovely gold foiling which just adds some beautiful bling to the designs.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Eden's Garden

To decorate the front, I used the largest of the stamps in the set, and some Evening Evergreen ink and stamped it on some Very Vanilla cardstock. The stamp set is distinctive in style, so picks up and stamp ink at different levels, adding highlights and shadows. I fussy cut this out with my paper snips. I layered this over some linen thread which I looped around.

Using the banner die, I die cut a shape from gold foil for the background of my sentiment. It has some lovely leaf imagery on the edges and I love how some are open and some are full leaves. The sentiment is one from the stamp set which I stamped in Evergreen ink and punched using the Double Oval punch. I layered this using the scallop oval and layered them all together on the card using dimensionals.

I finished off the card with a few Gilded Gems for extra bling.
