Colour INKspiration – CI165

colink-blogbanner-v3

Welcome to the next Colour INKspiration challenge – #CI165. We are celebrating some of Stampin’ Up! new In-Colour this challenge, let’s take a look….

Peach Pie, Petal Pink and Shy Shamrock.

Along with new colours, this month in Stampin’ Up! land we have a range of new toys to play with too – having released a new Annual Catalogue. Today, I’m playing with a new bundle called Flowers of Beauty.

This set features stamps and dies and here, I have used a combination of both to create a featured arrangement. One thing I have noticed while using these new colours is, they are bright and strong colours. These types of colour really lend themselves to Generational Stamping techniques, which really allow you to extend the shades of the ink colour.

On my card, here, I have used the Shy Shamrock in full strength – leaves at the back, and the sentiment. However the leaves are lighter – here I stamped off on some scratch paper, removing some of the ink from my stamp, before stamping again on Basic White cardstock to use.

Petal Pink and Peach Pie are what we call “colour buddies”. These are two shades of a similar colour that work together to provide light and shade. Here I stamped the outline stamp in Peach and coloured the flowers with Petal.

I added a die cut leaf layer from Shy Shamrock and finish the card with some new In Colour glimmer gems. I layered some Petal Pink cardstock to a Basic White thick cardbase to make the card.

Colour INKspiration – CI161

colink-blogbanner-v3

For this latest colour palette for the Colour INKspiriation challenges, I wanted to try something different. The intensity in the colour palette for this challenge suited what I had in mind. So let’s take a look at the colours: Moody Mauve, Melon Mambo and Garden Green.

Rich intense hues allow for gradation of colour to be extracted. So for this card I did some watercolouring.

Fun Fact: Although I am a Graphic Designer, my drawing skills are not great – so much so, I didn’t score well in my Life Drawing classes back in my Uni days! Graphics and Illustrations are two different disciplines!

Rather than stamping, I created a base design to watercolour by using the Layered Florals embossing folder and some Fluid 100 paper. The 3D style of this embossing folder really lends itself to this technique as it is so deeply etched.

Dotting some ink from my reinker and mixing a little water to dilute it, I used water painters and spritzers to add my colour. The richness of these colours means you can extend the colours to create light and shade.

I purposefully embossing a section of the folder, so that there was a centre flower, to help create my little piece of Monet.

I will continue to practise my blending skills, but it was fun to colour in a different way and produce a little piece of art in a different style to my norm.

Little Latte inside window

Today, I want to share with you a video tutorial for a card I created that has an inside window. I had this idea as there are so many sheets of designer paper where I totally love both sides of the design. I found that because I couldn’t decide which one to use, I didn’t use them at all. Are you like this too?

So I had an idea for a card design that showcases both sides. What I like about this card design, is that you don’t have to cut and flip the piece. Just cut the designer paper into a layer like you would normally and let the card base do all the work for you.

To learn how to make a card like this, watch my latest YouTube video here:

I hope you enjoy the creativity shared here and it inspires you to give it a try.

Rock n Roll Suite

Calling all Muso’s! What a great little collection of Music themed products we have at the moment. We have the Rock n Roll suite featuring the Rockstar bundle and we also have a Kit in the Kits Collection called Rock Legends which works stand alone but when you combine them, well… the ideas are endless!

Let’s take a quick look at the kit first… the kit contains two different designs and you make 4 of each design.

Rose Packer, Stampin' Up!, Creative Roses, Rock n Roll suite, Rockstar bundle, Rock Legend Kit

They are quick, easy and great fun to just make up… great if you are looking for a simple but fun crafting experience with some useful cards at the end.

Rose Packer, Stampin' Up!, Creative Roses, Rock n Roll suite, Rockstar bundle, Rock Legend Kit

If you are looking for a little challenge, the elements are easy enough to change around to give you a different design. Here I have turned the card bases to landscape and rearranged some of the elements so they fit on, and here I have two more designs.

You could make up two cards as planned and two cards in this layout and you have 4 different designs.

For my crafty crew… you know who you are… crafters who like to mix things up quite a bit. Here I have two more ideas for you.

Rose Packer, Stampin' Up!, Creative Roses, Rock n Roll suite, Rockstar bundle, Rock Legend Kit

For both of these cards I made up a card base from my own card stock. The card base from the kit, I cut in half and used on the front of the cards.

In this first card, I coloured and fuss cut guitars from the Designer Paper pack. Then arranged them in and around the main Guitar from the kit. Finishing off the card, I scattered some of the Lightening and Star gems.

Rose Packer, Stampin' Up!, Creative Roses, Rock n Roll suite, Rockstar bundle, Rock Legend Kit

The second card, I had fun with the card front from the kit. First, I embossed the card with the Merry Melody embossing folder and then used black ink pad and lightly, gently swiped across the embossed detail to make them stand out a little. Yes, I did get ink on the back of cards in places but that just adds to the grungy feel.

Rose Packer, Stampin' Up!, Creative Roses, Rock n Roll suite, Rockstar bundle, Rock Legend Kit

After some drying time, I set about making up the card… I stamped and die cut the microphone from the Rockstar bundle and the drums came from Enjoy The Rhythm stamp set. I fussy cut those and placed all the elements together and finished off with some more of the Lightening and Stars adhesive backed gems.

Whilst these sets are not exclusively for men of course, they do make creating for male folk so much more easier, don’t you think?

You Can Create It – January Ideas

I am back creating with, and offering, the You Can Create It kits for 2024. We have a few new Global Team members this year, so look out for their projects to help inspire your crafting with these kits too. If you live in Australia, you’ll want to know more about this wonderful little challenge pack – so keep reading on.

These kits contain consumable products packed into monthly challenges. The challenge is to use some of all products contained in the monthly pack. The kit also contains extra materials which can be share across all the monthly packs. There are three kits a year, containing 4 monthly packs – these coincide with the Stampin’ Up! catalogue release to feature the latest products. For more information and how you can subscribe, visit the Online kits page.

But now…. Let’s get onto my idea using the January pack. This pack featured the new Lighter than Air suite of product. This suite is themed with Hot Air Balloons, it features Stamp and Die bundle, as well as Designer Paper and gems to coordinate. Here is what the January packs looked like:

Here is one of the cards I made…

It’s a simple fold… just slicing 20mm off the card front to create some interest. I love how this simple detail create a little wow factor to the card design. Using one of the DSP patterns in the pack, I layered with Fresh Freesia cardstock and adhere to the shortened card front.

I kept my scrap strips from trimming the card front down and the Freesia cardstock and used them to add details to the card. I adhered the Freesia strip to the inside of my card, so it peeks out and add interest to the front when looking at it closed. The white strip, I layered across my card – this served two purposes; providing a place to stamp my sentiment; and also holding the extra elements.

One of the dies coordinate with the printed balloons in the Designer Paper pack. So I used these for decorative elements on the front.

I did make a second card, using the remaining supplies in the pack. I will be sharing this with my subscribers in my ViP group.

Colour INKspiration – CI158

colink-blogbanner-v3

Can you believe we are mid summer already…. It feels like it hasn’t even started here in Melbourne yet. Maybe one or two days just over 30 degrees, but that’s it. Really looking forward to some warmer days so we can plan a trip to the beach… one just like this one that forms our inspo for Colour INKspiration’s mid holiday challenge…

Our challenge colours are Petal Pink, Fresh Freesia, Pool Party and Blueberry Bushel.

With a Mini Catalogue full of amazing new toys just launching this month, it sure was hard to pick which set to play with first. I went with Filled with Happiness. It’s a stand alone stamp set on page 35 of the January mini, however it coordinate with the carryover Modern Oval punch from the September 2023 mini.

I’m still in holiday mode, even though I started back at work this week, so my crafting is simple for fun.

First up, I created a cardbase in Petal Pink cardstock. I found some Designer Paper in the same colour from the Light it up designer paper pack. So I trimmed down a panel, framed it with a thin strip of Fresh Freesia cardstock and adhere to the cardbase.

Next, I stamped the main image in Blueberry Bushel ink on some Basic White cardstock. Colouring was always fun for me as a kid – then with lead pencils, now with Blends (alcohol markers). I coloured the central image in with Pool Party, Petal Pink and Fresh Freesia blends. Using the Modern Oval punch, I punched out the centre image, leaving behind the sentiment in a larger oval shape on my white cardstock.

I trimmed down a piece of Pool Party cardstock and adhered the sentiment layer, creating a nice frame. This then went onto my cardbase.

I wanted a little more Fresh freesia colour, so I coloured some Black & White gingham ribbon with my Blend. I layered this over the sentiment and fixed the coloured punch element over the top with dimensionals.

Finishing my card with a few of the Rainbow Adhesive gems, again in Freesia.

You Can Create It – December pack ideas

Welcome to the last pack of the year for You Can Create It. It’s been a fun year of challenges using the select group of products. This post is ideas using the December pack of products, which featured the Tartan Foil Specialty paper.

There was so much product in that pack, it was hard to decide what to do as I had so many ideas! Let’s take a look at what was included in the pack…. On the left we have Specialty paper and coordinating cardstock for the month. Plus, on the right, is the extra materials supply pack with can be used across all four monthly packs in the kit.

Here are the two ideas I settled on in the end. I went with a landscape and a portrait card.

This first idea, a landscape card, is nice and simple… simple layering of cardstock and the tartan foil and topped off with a cluster arrangement of White flower and leaves.

Rose Packer, Stampin' Up!, You Can Create It kits, Tartan Foil Specialty paper

If I wanted to step this up a little, here are two simple ideas: 1- add some jewels or gems for extra bling, or 2- add another colour – say Wild Wheat as the stamen to the flower and match in some Wheat thread around the layers, stamp the sentiment in the same colour and perhaps some gems.

Rose Packer, Stampin' Up!, You Can Create It kits, Tartan Foil Specialty paper

This second idea is another card in portrait. Here I have used the patchwork pieces dies to create some interest.

Rose Packer, Stampin' Up!, You Can Create It kits, Tartan Foil Specialty paper

I flipped over and rotated some of the pieces to use both sides of the amazing speciality paper. I topped it with a simple sentiment and added some bright colour, contrasting ink.

I will be back for another year with You Can Create It and offering these kits during 2024. If you wish to know more about them, how they work and how you can craft with them, read more here. My subscribers will be invited to my VIP Facebook group where I will feature more ideas and lives/videos about these products throughout the year. Subscriptions for the first kit are now open and will ship at the end of the month.

Colour INKspiration

colink-blogbanner-v3

I’m back with some inspiration for the latest Colour INKspiration colour challenge – #ci145. It’s a beauty too. To be honest… we’ve had some pretty awesome ones this year already, the crew have worked hard to find images to inspire our crafting. This one is just as good!

So the colour combination we are working with for this challenge includes Blueberry Bushell, Tahitian Tide and Lemon Lime Twist. Plus of course, we can add the usual neutrals – Basic White, Basic Black, Crumb Cake and metallics.

I went simple and opted to use the Earthen Textures bundle. This suite in the Annual Catalogue is featured using lovely warm earthy neutral tones that look like they have just bounced out of a Decorator Magazine. You know I’m always up for a challenge. So here they are in blues….

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Earthen Textures, CI145

Layering the blue pots against the white cardstock was a huge contrast with splashes of the Lemon Lime Twist colour for leaves and a thin frame.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, Earthen Textures, CI145

I also had a small scrap of Basic White cardstock floating around my craft table, so I embossed it with the Cane Weave folder and layered it as a base for the pots to sit on. Finishing off with a couple of Iridescent Pearls as decorations on a pot.

You Can Create It – May pack ideas

Ideas using You Can Create It Kits for the May pack are out today. I had so many ideas of what I wanted to do and make with the kit, I settled on simple and quick… But first let’s take a quick look at what supplies we had to create with.

The main focus was the Fresh as a Daisy paper pack complimented by new In Colour range of cardstock and Jute twine. Plus of course we have the Extra Materials pack to top up with.

Simple and quick… is what I’m about this year, life is just crazy and I’m sure you can relate. But that doesn’t mean we can’t add touches of clever or fun or useful to creating. Here I create two card – same same but different.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, You Can Create It, Fresh as a Daisy, Brewed for you

Both using Basic White Thick cardstock for bases and layering with the cardstock and Designer paper from the May pack. But I wanted to make my cardstock work hard and go further… so I punched a circle from the cardstock before adhering my layers.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, You Can Create It, Fresh as a Daisy, Brewed for you

This is a great way to extend your supplies, particularly with specialty’s and foils.

To make the focal element on the Daisy card, I opted for a quick technique. First heat embossing the flower with White Embossing powder, I then used a Blender pen and White Craft Ink to colour with. Finishing with some of those gorgeous Iridescent pearls to top off a lovely lady card.

Rose Packer, Creative Roses, Stampin' Up!, You Can Create It, Fresh as a Daisy, Brewed for you

So for the second card, I went for a guy theme, using the Brewed For You stamp set. Such a great one for men-folk. Again punch a circle from the Pebbled Path cardstock before layering. I also used the backside of the Designer Paper for this card, for a textured look and a knot in place of the bow. Oh and … I left off the pearls, while some men do like them, I find most don’t!
